Is this a new APFS thing? I'm on the latest version of OS X, 10.14.3. I just dragged the folder to destination and OS asked if I wanted to resume partial copy and it started from where it left off. Was prepared to wait out the whole copy again. Seeing the beach ball less often with Mojave. Also noticed Time Machine is faster.

Kill slow play. Allow walking. Reduce ineffective golf instruction. Use environmentally friendly course maintenance.

I think it's just journaling, but APFS may play a role in that too.
