Ive taken up golf this fall(im hooked).....................and with a younger brother,formerly a Pro,i felt i had to go about it differently...........so i went with HICKORY SHAFTED CLUBS....lol...............and a MESH PATTERNED ball............he couldnt believe it......ive really learned alot on this forum and have applied stuff ive gotten here in one way or another to my game....just wanted to say where I was comin from.............and look forward to going forth and learnin as much as i can here................my clubs have names ,not numbers but i look forward to the journey we ALL take together on here findin our own ways......i thank you all very much for all of your postings.........ill jump in where i can and hopefully contribute something to the mix...........bob

as far as i know they are remolded modern balls,very low compression with the old style aerodynamics.........they seem to work a lil better than some of the modern harder balls ive used

Please tell me you walk and not ride in a cart with that set up. That would just be wrong.

welcome bob, kudos for never going forward from the start but taking a step back or maybe, the archaic revival

i noticed there are lots of hickory sticks being sold on ebay for those who want to get into it, i myself don't have any but am amongst those who thinks the soul of golf is getting buried in technology and commercialism and think its sad for the game so many of our great courses are losing their edge with the technological developments

i noticed in reading the link posted about the hickory tournament, that they require all antique clubs, perhaps good for the environment as well cuz if hickory and persimmon became a fad, our depleted forests could not sustain such an interest
