I find that any article / book that talks about Harvey Penick and his teachings are great for anyone thinking about lessons just for understanding how he had a different approach for each student. I got really lucky when I went to an instructor as it was sort of a random selection but he had a very Harvey like approach:

• He first say me down for 10 minutes to talk about my golf goals and what I wanted to achieve with lessons.
• He tried to make improvements to my swing, not an ideal vision of what a swing should be
• And he quickly learned how I learned - he could tell or show me what he wanted to tweak, but I learned much better when he also told me why we were trying to do something.
