  1. Sometimes I play the course better for the first time. I'd say 75% of the time this is not the case, but sometimes I play very well there the first time, or first few times, then I'll go back and seemingly get frustrated and not play as well. So, idk, I seem to relax a bit more when I don't know the course because my expectations are a little lower.
  2. Sure, it's part of the game, but when it throws your ball off-line on the 17th hole in basically a must make putt, it's pretty unlucky, let's be honest. If I was in the same situation, I'd be equally as frustrated and pissed. Oh come on. That's ridiculous. It was a 52 footer. Of course he was going to be around the hole, almost all pro's can get it around the hole on 50 footers.
  3. I actually like Overton and felt some sympathy for him. He got screwed on 17, I thought that putt was in for sure. I probably would've reacted the same way in those circumstances to be fair. Not to mention he had a great run at it on 18, and he got beat by a guy who shot friggin 59 in the final round on Sunday!!! It's a lot of frustration after a few runner ups and never getting a tour W.
  4. It's pretty much been on the downward trend since I've started golfing five years ago. Started out as a beginner, obviously, and played to a 30 handicap my first year, 2nd year went to about a 25, 3rd year I really started to get better got to about about a 15-20 in that range, consistently about a 10 but broke into single digits towards the end of last year and now this year I'm at my lowest ever a 5.0 index. The past month or so I've leveled off though. I haven't taken a lesson with my current teacher (who I've only been to twice since we started three months ago, and have already seen dramatic improvements) in about a month and a half, so I've kind of leveled off right now and am consistenly shooting 78 to 80 on my home course almost everytime out with the occasional 76 or so mixed in there and the occasional 81 or 82. But almost all my rounds this past month have been 78 to 80.
  5. This is true. My response to that would be, when does it ever become not just about money? I guess never, and for the viewer, it's unfortunate for us.
  6. I'd just simply call him out, and if he continued to deny it, I said ok, classless act sir, all over a golf ball. Then I'd proceed to drop one down without any penalty at the point I'd saw him pick it up, and continue on with my round. It's just a golf ball, if the dude thinks it's that big of a deal to steal it, I'd just let it go to be honest and proceed to play on and not let him ruin my day over such nonsense.
  7. Thought this would be a fun thread, and a way of discussing what needs to be improved with your own personal game. Here's how this works, you will say your current handicap, and then suggest what level each part of your game is on. Here is the template: Driving: 5 handicap. Hitting it solid, pretty straight, and generally about 260 yards. Sometimes more, sometimes shorter. F-way woods/Hybrids: 8 handicap. I don't feel like I'm hitting these well right now at all, just too inconsistent IMO. Irons: 15 handicap. Just mishit them, especially the mid irons way too often. Really working hard on this. Wedges: 5 handicap. I'm talking full wedge shots here, I'd say I'm playing around my level right now. Short game (chipping, pitching, bunkers): Scratch. By far the best part of my game. I've had people tell me I'm a machine at getting the ball up and down. Putting: 5 handicap. I'm putting well, but not great. I'm consistently threatening the hole from 20 feet and in, but my speed has been great lately. So, let's hear your assessments!
  8. Ping g10 is a really good club, it can be had cheap right now!
  9. I've pretty much always known my yardages since I've been shooting in the low 90's, all the way up until now... I mean, they've changed, I've gotten much longer as time has gone on, different clubs can be hit in different situations now with my confidence, but I know my yardages. Inside of 80 yards though I use one club, and I don't really care what the distance is. Saying it's 70 yards as oppose to 50 does nothing for me. I simply feel the yardage by looking at the target and try to make the proper swing off that. I don't have a 50 yard swing, 60 yard swing, 70 yard swing, etc.
  10. Staying away from those huge numbers can just be a matter of collecting yourself after the first poor shot. It's more than just one poor shot to make more then a double or triple.
  11. I've actually heard that the Canadian Health Care system isn't too bad, actually. So you're saying it's good?
  12. hahahaha... that's hilarious... But seriously, lame. All this outsourcing, no wonder why so many are unemployed!
  13. By reminding him there are far more important things then golf, and to remind him that everyone goes through rough stages of their game.
  14. Agreed. You can usually find good deals on them and they are certainly a quality putter.
  15. Yeah, who doesn't shake each others hands and said they've enjoyed the round? I don't think I've never NOT done so?!?!

    Too HOT!!

Well, lets be honest, walking with a caddy and walking carrying your bag are two completely different things.
  17. Good players know when other good players can play. They realize everybody has a bad day. So, even if you have one, no need to worry, they'll recognize you can still play. Plus, they probably really could care less about your game. As long as your nice, move along at a normal speed, and are fun to play with, they'll invite you out again. I played with a +1 and the +2 8 time club champ at my course, and the head golf pro once, all in the same foursome we were. I was real nervous on the first tee (and not to sound stupid but i was really hungover, lol) and i played only 9 holes with them, and they were fun to play with and said they were impressed with my game. I shot 40, nothing great, but the club champ said he wants to play again soon.
  18. Yeah I mean win and elevation changes would play a major part. It could be anywhere from 19* hybrid to a 3 or 4 iron.
  19. Regular. Cut the driver shaft down an inch or so because you're pretty short, it'll give you a ton more control.
  20. He is a Top 100 Golf Magazine Teacher. And he has a very good resume. In just two lessons I've improved tremendously. And my Dad taught me everything I know leading up to these lessons, and he attends the lessons with me so I trust what he has to say with me considering he taught me the past five years and he's still better then me haha.
  21. There's very few people I let influence my game and the way I swing the golf club. Most people's opinions I dismiss. I take lessons from a certain guy, he's teaching me a certain way, I could care less what the 10 handicap at my club says or thinks about my swing. My dad and teaching pro are the only ones I really listen to.
  22. yeah in a high school tri county tournament this year i finished T-9 out of 80 players. Front 9 = 46 Back 9 = 36.
  23. regular shaft although my driver shaft is cut down to 44.50" from 45.75" so it's playing more like stiff
  24. No problem playing with high cappers as long as they keep things moving. Don't play slow, and just know the basic etiquette. Other then that I don't care what your handicap or level is!
  25. Yeah I was talking about more informally and I think my club in the handicapped tournaments round up/down.
