  1. I like the way it looks and will be the first in line to give it a test drive when they are available. has anybody heard of a release date ? or have a guess based on TM past releases ? seems like they would be on the market by spring for the general public and perhaps we will see them on tour in Hawaii at the season opener ?
  2. I just checked the distance from my bed to the front edge of the 3rd green on my course. Golfshot gives me 40 yards My laser rangefinder indicates 31 yards ( correct ) The little blue dot shows up about in my kitchen and not my bedroom where I am. The discrepancy could be because I am indoors but none the less it is off a bit. B-) Perhaps an outdoor test is in order to be fair since the gps system is satellite based.
  3. I have it on my iPad and like the scoring feature best. The aerial view and gps estimated yardages are great for course management and strategy planning however I rely on my bushel v2 pro when I want accurate distances. Overall it is a good deal at $30 and I would reccoment it for the iPad. Not sure if the small screen of the iphone would be workable for me however. The plus side is you don't need to lug around an iPad. But like I said, I use it more for before a round at a new course and not much on the course.
  4. I'll buck the trend. Don't buy what I play. The TM raylor. I can't get past the V bottom. It just messes with my mental imiage of the club hitting the ground at impact. That and it has a longer shaft then most hybrids making it hard for me to control. I want to swing it like a wood and not an iron. Hybrids are supposed to be easy to hit and for me the raylor is not that club. It does work well from the rough however. B-) I have been dedicated to it and keep practicing with it...but I fear it is about to be replaced.

    I did it!!!!!

Congrats, prolong the elation as long as possible because as you know, golf is a cruel game and just about the time you think you have it.......you don't. B-)
  6. Being new here I don't really have a preference on the old vrs new look as it is all new to me. Overall the look is pretty neutral for a webiste. Not flashy or obnoxious. Navigation is intuitive and straightforward. I do find the page loads to be slow....almost painfully. ( I run a huge site so I am sympathetic to the hardware and software demands required to keep pages loading quick ) Hopefully with some minor tweaks they can optimize the page load speeds. I am surprised at the limited advertising on the site. Seems to me like the site could be monitized in a way that benefits it's members.... i.e. More industry ads , who wouldn't want a golf galaxy discount for sand trap readers on your next purchase ? I like the scorecard integration idea but it seems underutilized, I tried to find the info on the program and couldn't . ( I ran across it a few days ago but forgot where it was ) Anyhow, site looks good but functionality could be improved.
  7. Not sure what is so difficult to " understand" it is just personal preference. You prefer to carry 3 wedges some people, myself included like to carry 4. My iron set came with a 45* PW & 50* AW I added a 56* SW and a 60* LW Had my set come with a 47* PW I would probably only play 3 wedges also, but I do like the yardage gap my PW and AW offer and since that is what I have, that is what I play.
  8. I did extensive research on golf impact netting before I bought mine. Like craxyxgolfer suggest above, there is a big difference between a enclosure net and a impact panel. For the back wall you need to make sure you get a net designed to have a golf ball fired from short range directly into it. The guys at www.gourock.com know their biz http://gourock.com/netting-square-foot.html For my impact panel I went with a 10x15 with #21 dupont twine in a 3/4 square. Rope border with a lead rope bottom weight.
  9. Well I live on a private 9 hole but play most of my rounds at a very nice course about a half hour away. Stopped by today to hit some range balls. Inquired in the pro shop about membership to the club. They had a deal going on I just couldn't pass up, so I joined. Any of you Sacramento area golfers looking for a deal on membership should check out turkey creek. I am looking forward to finally establishing my index / handicap and playing in some tourneys. B-)
  10. I found a nice leather one at staples. The memo pads can be refilled or replaced so you can have a separate memo pad for each course. Mine also has a small calculator built into the cover...kinda handy. Not only do I use it on the course, but it is handy at the range to keep your yardages for each club dialed in.
  11. Went in to get my 8 iron shaft replaced and left with a new clevland cg15 56* sw.....you know, the whole year of the wedge deal.....lol. Like my cg15 60* so I figured I would get the matching sw while I still can. Also a box of balls and bag of tees.
  12. I think they are cool, I want to have club glove build me one with my company logo on it done in our colors. Lots of room for extra gear and a picnic. I should probably get one for the wife as well, since she ends up bringing an extra duffle bag anyhow. Lol We would not use them on our home course since we live on the course and walk, but we travel a lot and tend to bring plenty of what if stuff with us anyhow. For us it would eliminate the extra duffle bag. As far as being pretensions ..... Uhhh who cares, it is luggage. Use what works for you and what you like. Dang, I wish I would have thought of this in time for Christmas. Matching customs bags would have been neat..
  13. I see you put your big girl panties on this morning, ( as said to my son when he drilled a perfect drive off the first tee. Hey I have to try and unnerve him somehow so I have a chance to beat him ) Or when he hits a really nice shot I will just say , oh I missed it, do it again I wasn't watching.. Drives him nuts. Lol except then he will usually tee it up and do it again to show me up. We tend to bag on each other on good shots more so then mishits. Those are just to easy.
  14. I have a matt and net on the patio off my bedroom deck for practice. But the real prize is I live on a course and the 3rd green with sand bunker is 40 yards from my bed. I can lay in bed and watch people putt. Lol Being a private course it doesn't get much play so we practice on it when ever we get the urge. At night we have a large halogen quartz flood light and have putting parties and BBQ frequently. Having a sand bunker to practice on is very helpful to your game. It really isn't that difficult of a shot but I guess that most people don't practice it that much when they go to the range. I don't think it would be hard to make one in your yard and if I were building a practice green I would be inclined to build a sand bunker as well.

    Slow Play

Question, what would youndo if somebody intentionally hit into your group ? It has only happened to me once. We were waiting on the group ahead of us every shot for several holes. The guy behind us had a smart mouth and complained at each tee. I just told him it was a beautiful day and to enjoy being out golfing. He bitched and moaned about it ruining his rhythm...bla bla bla. Waiting for our second shot, he was standing on the tee box all teed up and ready to go, practice swings and pacing around. One of our group flubbed their shot and it wend about 10 feet. Well that was more then he could take and he hit right into us. I went over and picked up his ball and was headed for my cart to go have a word with him. But luckily the ranger saw the whole thing and beat me to it.... He was asked to leave the course. The ranger later caught up to us and apologized. Apparently he was a member there and it was not he first violation of the nature. Not sure what I was goingbto do other then get in his face , but it was certainly uncool.

    Slow Play

Seems to me that much of the problem can be solved by the course managers. 1 course we play has the gps screen in the carts and one feature it has has is a display of pace, it clearly indicates if you are ahead or behind pace. In addition this course starts the next group only when the group in front has cleared the first green. We never run into the group ahead of us. The other course we play occasionally has no gps screens on the carts and the starter starts each group as soon as you play your second shot. I think they do this to get the maximum number of rounds in per day. But we are almost waiting on the group ahead of us and the group behind is always on our donkey..... I prefer not to play there much and oddly enuff both of my examples are higher end country club $75 a round courses. Luckily I live on a private course and , well today I played 9 with my son and we did not see a single other golfer all day. B-)
  17. I played a few shots with a buddies 7 wood last week and liked it a lot, so today I dug an old 5 wood out of the garage and took it with me to the range to try out.... I liked it a lot and think I am gonna practice with it some more then if all goes well start to play it. I have a TM 4 raylor but only use it from the rough.

    3-Wood off a tee

Ok, target area might be a more accurate description. The actuall "sign" is a 2'x4 foot sandwich board with the yardages, the target area the sign indicates the distance for is maybe 50x50. If I hit the sign I would expect some pissed off golfers since it is at the side end of the range and I am sure they wouldn't appreciate the ball sifting by their heads. Anyhow. The point is accuracy. I hit my 3 wood just fine thank you.

    3-Wood off a tee

I play with a laser rangefinder and the truth is a bitch. Lol I am sure if i were estimating my distances my numbers would be far more impressive...lmao On the range I can typically hit the 200 yard sign 3 out of 5 shots and 1 out of 10 will miss enough to be in the rough. I really don't work on trying to increase my swing speed or distances, I prefer to play within my physical abilities and focus on accuracy and shaping my shots. Playing out on the course I try and use the range finder to pick targets I know I can hit. For me 200 yards with the 3w is fairly sure bet. When I try for 230 or more with it, it is not that I can't get the distance, I just can't consistancly put it where I want. I think of my 3 wood like a sniper rifle, not a shot gun. When i just want the ball somewhere far down range I hit my driver.

    3-Wood off a tee

You should see the fish I almost caught this weekend .......lol Me thinks the rough is deep in the thread. :) I have recently been hitting my 15* burner 3 wood more then my r9 driver for all the reasons mentioned. I just have better control and hit it well more consistently , I can count on placing the ball near my intended target out to 200 yards with the 3 wood. My misses with the 3 wood are also less sever and tend to be in the rough where my misses with the driver are usually OB , in the trees or the wrong fairway.
  21. I feel your pain, last Tuesday as we rolled up to the 18th my buddy informs me I was sitting on a score of 76. Now the 18 is a tuff par 4 with plenty of water and narrow.... I blew up and built a snowman and finished with my best score ever of an 84. I was stoked but also kinda bummed as I have birdies the 18th once and usually get a par. So today playing the same course I decided to look at my total after 17 as I don't typically keep an eye what I am shooting and just enjoy the game, anyhow I was at 75. Surely I figured I could get my par and break 80 !!!!!! Nope, bogeyed it for my lowest round ever , an even 80.....lol One of these days it will happen but in the mean time I am just glad to be playing good golf. but I think I am going to go back to not adding up my scores until after the round... To much pressure......lol Keep up the good work !! camo
  22. I make a point to study my divots after each swing. They can tell you a lot about what is going on with your swing. If I am swinging inside out, starting to get a bit lazy and coming from the outside, if they are to deep it usually means I am to steep, I can identify my diviot shape, direction orientation and width by the shot I am trying to hit. Wether it is a draw or a fade the divot will reflect it. ..... Just one more little bit of feed back for working on my game. And for me, my divots get shallower the longer the club. My mental picture when I am in my swing and looking at the ball is. I think of putting the leading edge of the club right where the ball touches the ground and take a 1/8 diviot.....and yes I am a S&T; swinger.
  23. Stretch, I was just thinking the same thing, breaking 90 means playing bogey golf not par. 1 par and 17 bogeys will get you there. :) avoiding the big number is my key to getting it done, as I expect to get at least 4 pars and a bird or 2.
  24. I had a completely self taught swing and the problem was that because I had no understanding of the components of the swing or what each component contributed to my ball flight I was unable to be consistent much less fix things when they went bad. Watching the golf channel or reading magazine made it worse when I tried to adopt bits and pieces of advice from various sources. I decided that a golf swing was like an opinion, everybody has one and none are nessasarily right. They are just yours. So I figured I would adopt a "system" and for better or worse I bought the stack and tilt book for my iPad. I quickly agreed with what the authors where saying and decided I would go with it. Up to this point my typically score on our home course which is a 6500 yard par 72 with a slope of 138 was 100 to 110 I read the book, adopted the swing as best I could understand it from reading. And have been practicing 2 to 3 times a week on the range. Golfing a round or so each week. For the past 3 months my scores have dropping steadily. My last round on Tuesday I shot a legit 80. Stack and tilt a fad ? Not for me. I have found my swing. :) Edit....I should add. Probably the most gratifying aspect of it is I now can tell what went wrong when I do miss a shot an easily correct it. That in itself has made the game more enjoyable for me.
