  1. None. I've spent years looking for a hybrid I don't hook the crap out of. I have no issues hitting a nice high 3i off the deck, once that becomes an issue I'll begin the hunt anew.
  2. Quite so. I'm clearly lucky this hasn't come up for me before. Fortunately (I guess) I seem incapable of keeping my ball in-bounds in those situations. If it does happen I'll definitely take the drop then regardless of the playing scenario. I hate going back to the tee since I walk.
  3. If it's a competitive round I would play the provisional. There is too much uncertainty for me with not only the drop but the following recovery shot. If it's a casual round I would take the drop every time. That's how you find out if you can make those shots and get practice at them.
  4. Your other thread actually got me remembering how much I loved practicing putting in my fivefingers. I have an old model of KSO's that just keep on going. I decided to play in them today since we had some torrential rain earlier today and the course is absolutely soggy. It was so much fun to go marching through all the puddles and standing water without worrying about my shoes getting wet! I found like you did that I felt much more confident reading greens, I sunk more putts today than usual (might have been a mental thing but who cares?!). I had no issues with traction with my KSO's today even with it being extremely wet. But it might be because I have a smooth tempo even though I have a relatively fast swing (driver around 107), I don't tend to torque my feet very much. I'm curious how you fare with those new versions. I was going to get some new True Linkswear Motions but might consider these instead.
  5. Great to hear about the Motion, that's the model I wanted. Nobody in Canada seems to carry it (at least not in Southern Ontario that I've been able to find) so I'm going to have to order online. I feel much more confident of that now. How have you found the spikes on the Motion? They look much more aggressive than they have in the past. I've never had grip issues before but more can't hurt.
  6. I've got quite a few eagles but no bunker hole outs. I've come close a few times but I'm just too inconsistent on the speed the ball comes out of the sand.
  7. Not a poll option but in the console of my push cart on vibrate. I hate having anything other than a pitch tool and ball marker in my pockets.
  8. I think most likely it was due to the range balls. They will be limited flight so the ball speed won't be very high compared to the club head speed (hence the low smash factor). Next time you make it to the course try it with a real ball and (assuming the strike is good) that number should be substantially higher.
  9. 1-2 years. I can't seem to find a 3W that I really love. Currently using a Nike Covert Tour (original version) that I'm getting along well with at the moment.
  10. 2-4 years but definitely closer to 4 than 2. My last change was only because I wanted to get in on the low spin revolution after seeing my numbers with a fitted SLDR.
  11. 2-4 years. I don't get along well with hybrids but I do keep trying them. I'm currently using an Adams Super DHY driving hybrid but it doesn't really work well from anywhere but a tight lie so I'm not sure it really qualifies.
  12. Voted 1-2 years. I play 4-5 times per week and I practice quite a bit so my sand wedge tends to take a beating. My stupid brain likes my wedges to match so I replace my perfectly good LW at the same time. I usually donate it to a friend or colleague who's getting started with golf or just wants a new toy.
  13. I seem to be sitting around 3 years right now. No particular reason I could give, it just works out that way. If Mizuno would stop coming out with such awesome looking clubs that number would probably go up significantly!
  14. I can't say I've given it much thought. But I'm a sucker for a good par 3 so that may be why. I'm curious to hear why people might not like it.
  15. I voted 5+ because I have used a couple different putters so I can't say never. However I got my Scotty Coronado Mid Slant when it was new with a proshop voucher I won and I fully expect to be buried with it (I'm only 35 so knock on wood it'll be a while).
  16. I picked neither/both/other. I'm definitely a digger with my wedges (beaver pelts galore!) but they get progressively more shallow and by the time I reach my 3i I'm just giving the grass a trim.
  17. My stock shot is a draw, I hit it 98% of the time. So I would hit my draw starting towards the water and have it turn back onto the green. However my usual miss is a straight push so rather than starting over the water I'll start on the flag (assuming it's in the center). If I get my usual draw I'll be left of the flag but away from the water. if I get my normal miss I'll be left of the water and hopefully on the right side of the green. Most of the time the 'correct' shape is the one you're confident in. Don't feel you need a different shape for every shot. Watch pro-tracer videos on youtube, you'll see lots of examples of guys doing the opposite of what 'seems right' just because it's their normal shape and they have confidence in the outcome.
  18. I'm having a similar issue sourcing them up here. Golf Town only carries a single model (Vegas) on their online site and nothing at all in any of the 4 GT stores I have access to. I'm loathe to buy shoes online without trying them on, I did that with the Lyt Dry and got totally burned by the problem you mentioned. The good news is according to (I believe) @iacas , they've returned to the pre-2014 sizing models.
  19. Never. I play 4-5 times per week so I just stretch to loosen up and take some practice swings. Half the courses I play don't have a range and I couldn't be bothered to take the time anyway. I used to always hit a small bucket when I only played once per week, but I play enough now it doesn't seem to matter one way or the other.
  20. It's about the feel of the grip, not just the size. Some people (myself included obviously) are picky about our only connection to the club. For example I no longer use 9 wraps, I started using Lamkin UTx grips and find that midsize +3 wraps gives me the feel and size I'm looking for.
  21. First round of the year today! Just got out to an executive course, nothing exciting around 5500 yards and par 67 but they were open and beggars can't be choosers! Shot level par which was nice, looks like all that work I did on the simulator over the winter was worthwhile.
  22. Headcover on my fairway and driver, always. I can count on one hand the number cart rides I had last season, with my push cart I do take the putter cover off though. My bag has a putter well on the side and it doesn't bump into anything so no worries there.
  23. There's a trick to it. You sort of pinch an inch or so before the end of the grip while pushing it over the end of the shaft at an angle and it kind of pops on. Then slide it on like any other grip. That's a terrible description but it really does work.
  24. I agree with what's been said by other posters but also wanted to add: the SLDR really punishes you on off-center hits because the weight is so far forward. It's not a 'forgiving' club like most modern drivers and I'd say your strike is causing more issues any anything. Your numbers with the "SLDR 11" aren't too bad but I bet if you looked at the smash factor average for that one it's quite a bit lower than the others. Work on getting your strike more into the center and I bet that driver would work a lot better for you.
  25. Great job! I've had exactly one as well though mine isn't as nice as yours. I had about 215yd in with a strong head wind so I hit my 3W (236yd carry normally). The wind died to nothing as I was in my backswing and I flew the green, pinged off a tree and watched it trickle back onto the green and into the cup. I got sh*t for that one for weeks but a 2 is a 2!!
