  2. i measured my truck bed's width, went to home depot and had them cut me a 1x4 and a 1x8.. . nailed them together perpendicular and set it in place so, it's enough so that two bags can fit between the tailgate and the verticle 1x8. if i need to put 4 bags in, i'd just lay them the length of the bed and they shouldn't slide too much. . . i also threw down a rubber mat so that my irons aren't scraping up against the truck bed getting scratched.
  3. I'd recommend to begin with the short game, this is where she'll develop the sense of feel that you need in golf. It also limit's the times that she'll get discouraged.
  4. Aside from wiping them after each shot, I like to thoroughly clean mine about once a week. I used to use two buckets, one with warm water, one with soapy hot water, but after using simply a bucket of warm water once, that's all I ever use. Oh, and an old toothbrush works way better than a nylon or soft brass brush. But thats just my opinion.
  5. looks like you just need a bar to go along the edge of it and you'd be golden!
  6. Driver 270-280 17.5* fairway 225 - 240 4 iron 210 - 220 5 iron 190 - 205 6 iron 175 - 185 7 iron 165 - 175 8 iron 150 - 165 9 iron 135 - 150 PW 120 - 135 AW 100 - 120 56* 100 and in 60* 75 and in wedges just depend on what the shot calls for, sometimes i'll hit an AW from 20 yds. i probably need a 2 or 3 iron hybrid as my 14th club
  7. may be just in my head, but if i start to pull a couple putts, i make sure i play my next putt with the ball closer to my feet, this is a quick remedy but it ALWAYS seems to work for me.
  8. Having alot of 1 putts is nice, but for me, it's my iron consistency. When I'm hitting on all cylinders with my irons, I absolutely love standing over a ball with the confidence where I know the ball will be on the green. Even when the putts aren't dropping, two putts for par isn't terrible versus a chip and a putt for par. But that's just me.
  9. you could be de-celerating through the club face, you dont want to take the club back far and then ease up on your downswing, you always want to accelerate through the ball, no matter if its a full, 1/2 or 1/4 swing. try taking a shorter backswing and accelerate through the ball. . .
  10. i have a small loop in my swing. i start the backswing off far outside(to me anyway) and i then get the club into position by looping or moving it back towards the inside, this helps me swing from inside out. . .so my answer to that question would be, my downswing trigger is moving my club to the inside at the top, the only other though i might have is to make sure the back of my glove hand isn't pointing up, but moving towards the target and ground.

    Pet Peeves

i absolutely cannot stand it when people give themselves gimme's. . . don't get me wrong, in a relaxed setting, i'll give myself a putt that is shorter than my putter grip length-ish. but when people have say a 15 foot put, then leave it 5 feet short, then knock it 2.5 feet past and hit it with the back of their putter from the opposite side of the hole and miss and pick it up and say 'o that was good' it's like come on!!! there are putts that are only a foot and a half on my home course that might break a whole cup depending on the speed, i'm sorry but maybe this is just me. . .
  12. i bought my first 5 wood this year. like you i had never been good at hitting it from the fairway.however i simply could not reach our par 5 on the front without it. it was a severe disadvantage to pitch from 30 yards, vs chipping from say 5 or even being on the green. i bit the bullet, bought one, and took it to the range until i found a swing that worked for it. i'd say get one and practice until you can hit it with confidence. good luck
  13. i do the same. . .i only smoke when i'm riding a cart which isn't very often. . .but while hitting i'll either hang it off the cart floor with the ash hanging off the side or set it somewhere by my ball . . . never as a swing aid. . .(yet!) if i ash, i step it into the ground, and i put it out using the cartpath, give it some water and throw it in a can or bottle and put it in the trash
  14. best way to improve from an 18 handicap in my opinion is to try and play every round like its a tournament round. practice your short game and try to get it up and down from inside the ropes around the greens.
  15. most colleges post their golf scores in their matches on their website. maybe go and look at some of the scores of the players from the schools that you're interested at, and compare yourself that way. maybe even go play the course that they've played and that can give you an even better understanding of where you stand. if you cant get to a school that you want, maybe you can play a year or two at a different school where you'll be able to make the team. good luck
  16. Forget about it! You're going to have a terrible day here and there. If you go out and shoot another 50, then hit the range and work on some technique. Remember an old swing thought that always seems to help. (My 'go to' is to take the club back square and not to far inside) Find your own 'go to' and use it when things are off for a few rounds in a row.
  17. I use one all the time. Except when putting of course. It honestly isn't a hassle, and it prolongs the beauty of it. Although some might say that my odyssey sabertooth isn't very easy on the eyes to begin with, I feel that it completes the set when you have headcovers on all your woods & your putter. I recently lost my 5 wood headcover and ordered another one on ebay just because I wanted my bag to have a neat clean look to it.
  18. Easy. For me it's definitely Mr. Couples. I love his take-away and they way he gets the club in great position for the downswing and uses his shoulder's to turn away from the ball, but gets his hips into it on the downswing and follow through. Absolutely one of the sweetest swings in the game in my opinion.
  19. believe it or not i'm working on my shots between 75-125 yards. this should be automatic to be on the green from here but i'm flaring it out short and left (i'm a lefty) i think my clubface is slightly open when i come through. i've been working on making sure my glove strap is pointing toward the ground at impact to try and close the face up a little and get a few more yards out of my wedges
  20. I don't wear a glove while putting. I get a better feel for the putter. . . sometimes I don't wear one when I chip from the fringe. I like to take it off in between shots as well so it doesn't get sweaty and so I have the same color hands after a round in the sun.
