  1. Ha! While I agree with you on pretty much all of this post, the PGA is just trying to avoid any negative images like people shooting themselves in strip clubs. Professional sports organizations all across the board are trying to promote a squeaky clean image. While I think we can all agree the PGA is probably the one that needs to be least concerned with it's image, it's just a sign of the times I guess and JD is the saccrificial lamb in this instance.
  2. Along those lines and not so much about the thread topic, I've heard people say that Phil is just as talented if not more talented than Tiger. It's just that Phil is a headcase. I think the mental aspect goes a long way. Every guy out there is an incredible player but to be able to handle the pressure and gallery every week is where Tiger rises above everyone else. This is coming from someone who doesn't particularly care for Tiger.
  3. As much I liked watching this man when I was growing up, I don't think he's got it anymore. He may make a few cuts this year and he's got a shot at getting his card back but if he does get it back, I don't think he'll ever win again. I know he's got love for Georgia Tech, he'd be a great college coach. Kids would flock to a program with him as a coach.
  4. Is this a for real question? PGA Tour. Next. Wasn't it Greg Norman who tried to develop something like this a few years ago?
  5. Hopefully Martha got to some of the coverage of the last few Masters. It's pretty nice now that there are limited commercial interruptions bringing the viewers, "56 minutes golf action for every hour" I hate that woman but I owe her for getting commercials out of The Masters. The main demographic that watches the Masters are men who don't give a crap what Martha Burke has to say, they just know that there aren't any commercials anymore. Sweet! Someone else brought up the point that women are equal from 175 in. They have to get it to 175 in first. It's like I said, show me the top woman player in the world making a cut at a non major and maybe we can talk about this, but until that happens, all this talk about women teeing it up at The Masters needs to go the way of Martha Burke.
  6. I'm watching in class right now. Last year it wouldn't work on a mac. It kills my battery though.
  7. Snedeker would be cool too. I like his style. I don't know what that really means but I dig the guy.
  8. You sound like a guidance counselor. I don't want to see a guy play in the Women's Open and I don't want to see a chick struggle around Augusta. Besides, haven't we already established, for the time being, that the women can't keep up with the men. Anika and Michielle both tried and couldn't make the cuts. What makes anyone think they belong in a major. Anika did ok in the Skins Game but that's a little different format.
  9. I haven't read any of the other comments I just saw the title and about jumped out of my seat. The Masters overrated? Blasphemy sir. Absolute blasphemy. The weak field is one of the best parts. Bobby Jones wanted amateurs to play and he wanted them to win. And the old timers playing is part of the tradition. It's a tradition unlike any other. This tournament is perfect in my opinion. Everything from the honorary starter to lifetime exemptions is what make the tournament what it is. Not to mention, it's Augusta. How can anything be bad when it's conducted at that golf course? I hope heaven is as nice as Augusta National G.C.
  10. I'm always in favor of a young guy winning it for the first time. For example Zack Johnson was pretty cool. That being said, I would like to see Justin Rose finally win this thing. Or Luke Donald. If and older guy has to win though I wouldn't mind seeing Ernie or Goosen. Especially Ernie. He's paid his dues and I would like to see him finally get that jacket.
  11. I'm pretty pumped for ESPNHD this year.
  12. I will never admit that Big John is done. He's still got another major championship in him. Somewhere.
  13. I'm a full time student at The University of Missouri. When I'm not insanely busy, I student charge rounds of golf at the university course.
  14. No, Tiger was 20 or 21 when he won his first Masters and it's been all Tiger since then. The kid has dominated since got on the scene and he's never looked back. Lorena is needs to keep this pace going for at least two or three more years to be considered the Tiger of the LPGA. Right now I think compared to Tigers she is still a flash in the pan. Tiger has ran the show for ten years now and Lorena only two. Combine that with the fact that she doesn't have the name recognition that Tiger does. While that's not fair to compare PGA and LPGA in terms of status, Anika was at least a well known name and face. Lorena isn't there yet.
  15. I'm glad to see others suffer from divider envy. I though I was being a hypochondriac. I really want a bag with one of the putter slots/tubes. That goofy shape just doesn't fit in well with the rest of my sticks. I organize my wedges in the bottom going highest loft on the left, lowest on the right. With the rest of my irons, I go from lowest loft on the left to highest on the right. My driver is on the top left, then the hybrid, then the 3 wood. The putter usually goes where I feel like it at the time.
  16. Best avatar I've seen on here. Other than mine of course. To answer the question, I've heard of a lot of guys being members at those ultra exclusive gated private joints in Arizona and Florida. I also know of course in Oklahoma that I can't remember the name or the players who are members there. It may have been Southern Hills. A friend of mine played a college tournament there and he was telling me these three pros who I can't remember now came out watched him for a few holes. And if they go into any country and flash that tour card most places will let them out. As far as the proper grammar thing, I will say this, my friend next to me in class got a chuckle reading them. That should be all you need to know about how it shows on your intelligence and character.
  17. The only thing i would want him coaching me on is how to make good looking kids. I think he's got the LPGA market cornered on that.
  18. The first part (trends) is right. The rest of your post has no relevance what so ever. There are so many young kids coming up through the junior tours. Not that there have never been so many, but that there have never been so many that can play at such a high level. Tiger has made every little kid want to play golf. Every kid does the fist pump now. At the same time golf has become more popular in other parts of the world. Golf is better in the U.S. but it's also getting better in the other parts of the world, not just England, Scotland, America, and Australia. To answer your question, no. Golf is still growing in the United States.
  19. I could see this turning into a great philosophical debate of what makes a man real or not. I vote Phil is real but he is also very cheesy. When he won the PGA and he was on tv with his wife and kids was so hokey. "I'm so glad you could be here with me for this." That was a bit much. But he also called himself an idiot after the US Open so I think he actually is that corny of a guy. He's just an honest, speak his mind kind of dude I guess. That and I hate Tiger's stone faced, zero emotion attitude.
  20. That's what I thought. Does the test detect performance anti-enhancing (not sure if that is a word)? I don't think anyone will be busted for roids but maybe a little weed or some blow?
  21. MIZ-ZOU! Rock-Chalk-Chickenhawk! Screw kU!
  22. I was just playing around online and found some drawings of Tiger's new course in Dubai. The 18th is a 507 yard par 4 with water all down the right and looks tough to say the least. Here is a link to the drawings of the first three holes. What do you think? http://www.earthgolf.com/2007/07/13/...r-woods-dubai/
  23. Every once in a while, I get to beat my nemesis. I call him Dad and even though he is 50 years old, he still beats me like I stole something.
  24. Also judging from my home course, I would go with: driver, 5 iron, 7 iron, 56 degree and putter. At least if I wanted to go for broke. If I wanted to play conservative, I might switch out my driver for my 19 degree hybrid.
  25. She can't even compete with the best on the LPGA. Anika dominated that tour and not even she could compete in the men's events. And Wie wants to play in the Masters? She can't even win the Evian Masters. What makes her think that she deserves to play in the Masters? She needs to become the number one player on the LPGA before she sets her sights on playing with the men. Hopefully she mature A LOT at college.
