  1. I sometimes play as a single, but only if the course is not busy. If the course is truly packed and all tee times booked, I would expect the course would pair the single up with a 2 or 3 ball. At least that's been my experience.
  2. I play Titleist 915H's - 21 and 24 - and find them really forgiving and they have good adjustability options so you can dial it in to suit your swing. Definitely worth a try as long as you're looking.
  3. I play a Ping G30 driver and 5 wood. Cut 1" off the driver and 1/2" off the fairway. Played one round last weekend, felt comfortable and I think it helped me control the ball better on average than I normally do. A few more rounds before I declare victory, but off to a decent start.
  4. courses are starting to close around here
  5. Usually about 35 - 40. Hopefully the weather keeps courses open until mid-November and we get a few more in.
  6. Googled them - they got 3 of 5 stars on the site I looked at - seem pretty mediocre for whatever it is that their deal is. Lots of options available to sports fans. Thanks but no thanks to mike & mike. :)
  7. Cool thanks. Are they any good? I live in Toronto which is one of the biggest media markets in NA, so I was thinking they were a small time act as I've never heard of them. Assumed they were a local, small time deal, let me know it that's not the case. Cheers
  8. Who are Mike and Mike? I don't get your post bud. Who are Mike and Mike? Is that a thing in Virginia?
  9. just 1 fairway - an 18 degree 5 wood. I find I can hit it almost as far as my old 3 wood off the tee, and it works a lot better off the fairway. Next longest club is a 21 degree hybrid, so the distance gapping is ok.
  10. typically an 8 iron to cover 145 - 155 yardage.
  11. last couple trips - I got a Sun Mountain C-130 14 way stand bag, a dozen Bridgestone B330 RX balls and a Cleveland Classic 10 half mallet putter - just liked the way it felt and I wanted a second putter for when it just feels like a change.
  12. currently using 714 AP1's and I have 2 "gap" wedges with the set - at 48 and a 52 - so yes my gap wedge(s) match my iron set
  13. PGA Tour Pros use hybrids and they are better than average ball strikers, soooooooooooo........
  14. I carry a 5W and my next long club is 3H. 5W is my only fairway wood and it's a great club. Find it easier to hit consistently than a 3W. I use it mainly off the tee and occaisionally from the fairway. I prefer hybrids from fairway, rough, etc. The 5W is definitely longer than the 3H. Different clubs for different situations.
  15. Longest iron is a 5. The main reason I swapped out the 4 iron is that I don't usually hit it that much further than my 5 iron. I play a 24 degree hybrid instead and get better distance gapping between clubs, and I do hit more good shots with the hybrid.
  16. They look great - really like to darker colour and agree it's a big improvement in look without the blue or orange badges. I was surprised to see that they had quite a bit more offset than my AP1's.
  17. like: Jordan Spieth, his game is so consistent - a bit unreal how consistent he is Phil Mickelson, exciting to watch when he's on his game Dustin Johnson, always like to see him do well Kevin Na, honourable mention ever since he took that 16, or whatever it was, and how well he handled it. dislike: Keegan Bradley, just hard to watch this guy. Rory Sabbatini, seems like a complete rag bag Ben Crane, so slow and those golf buddies videos or whatever they are, don't help
  18. a dozen Titleist Velocity balls and a pair of pants.
  19. I have the same dilemma - tough decision. Hybrid is versatile, but my miss with that club is usually a hook when rhythm is poor, which creates lots of problems. 4 iron isn't as long or as versatile, but usually pretty reliable and misses are not as bad as with the hybrid. I switch around between the 2 clubs, but play the hybrid more often - just try and put a smooth swing on it. Overall, more versatile and better distance with a decent swing.
  20. No I wouldn't. My driver is legal, and works just fine when I swing it properly......
  21. Titleist 915H 24 degree hybrid at Golf Town
  22. January '15 issue of Golf Digest does a direct comparison of their numbers at 24 years of age. So Rory from 2014 and Tiger from 2000. Tiger and Rory were both ranked number 1 in scoring average (Tiger was a full shot better though), birdie average and majors won (Woods had 3 to McIlroy's 2). Rory does drive the ball further but Woods was #1 in total driving. Both phenomenal but the stats show that while he had an amazing year, Rory is not where Tiger was at the same stage of his career. We'll see in time, but for right now it's still Tiger.
  23. I did try one of the Cleveland chippers this year - 8 iron loft I believe. It was ok but I didn't get any better results with it - maybe it was expectations that it would be a magic solution or something. Anyway, I started working on using my 8 & 9 iron for chipping around the green and it seems to work out just as well. Agree with some earlier posts about using a hybrid around the green - need to practice with the hybrid to get the distance control right but I find it a good way to chip consistently around the green.
  24. Just picked up a Titleist H15 hybrid and some Velocity balls that were on sale.
  25. Still searching. Have had a few close calls on a short par 3 on a course I play quite a bit and once on a short par 5 that I was on in 2. That in itself was a minor miracle, never repeated, then I missed a makeable putt Maybe next year........
