Two weeks since I last played, getting the hebe jibees New clubs to boot
-
Same as last year, to lower my handicap by a couple strokes. I was on that path early but putting woes derailed that. I intent to start a relationship of improvement with a PGA professional and try to clean up some of my swing flaws.

Try a round at Hell's Point if you can, great course, a lot of fun

Are you a Better Golfer than a Year Ago?
fairwayguy2 replied to iacas's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
17.3 to a 14.5 this year. Got two new knees, replacements. Allows me to be more consistent and not tire as much at the end of a round. The three months I was off with the recovery all I could do was chip and putt. Consequently I became much better at it. When that's all you do it can make a big difference in your score. Now if I can shake this pull hook off the tee I can save some stokes and really make some hay -
Getting a new right knee for St. Patricks day.
fairwayguy2 replied to RLLee's topic in Fitness and Exercise
I had my left knee done November 3rd. Doctor said no full swings till February 1st. But said after 3 weeks it was ok to chip and putt. I am having the right knee done February 15th., Looking forward to be able to walk the course again. Lots of discomfort for about a month, nearly impossible to sleep the first week or so. I suggest sleeping in a recliner if you have one. I was in rehab 2 days after surgery and kept pushing myself. Keep walking around in your home. The more you walk the looser it gets. Right now I go to the gym every other day and bike 14 to 16 MPH for 30 minutes and do some light strength work. The knee goes like a piston. No pain, some stiffness from time to time, Good luck -

84, 40 on the front and 44 on the back. I doubled 2 of the last three holes when the heat strated getting to me. This was the best round of the year for me and also the best day of the year off the tee as I hit 10 of 13 fairways. Good day putting as well.

Played with a father and Son when the father was coaching the kid the whole day. Ruined the day for his kid and me as well. The other thing that bug's me is where you have someone in your group who has no consideration for anyone else in the group and if always out in front of you chasing his errant shots.

Well I played yesterday , October 9 th which was 18 days after my surgery and besides being inconsistent as always there was no consequences. My doctor cleared me to play and I've been feeling pretty goo but a little weak. Mine was done with a scope and my doctor fixed a slight hernia while he was in there.

I am 57 years old, almost 58 and had my Gall Bladder removed 5 days ago. I am in pretty good physically condition and I have the itch to get out and play. Has anyone here ever had this type of surgery and how long was your layoff? Dying to get back out and I am feeling good but the torque on the mid section might be a little much for having surgery less than a week ago. My saving grace so far is the weather has been so crappy in the Mid-Atlantic.

I would love to be able to walk the course again. I much rather walk than ride, however I have a problem with my right foot that prohibits me from walking anymore. I found that I played better and faster when I walked. I used the time between shots to gather my self on bad shots and calm down after good ones.. I am 58 years old now and notice that since I started playing till now all the newer courses seem to be designed to prohibit walking. The golf clubs don't want to give up the cart revenue. Occasionally I play a 9 hole course close to me and walk but I pay for it the next couple days. I think a course for walkers would be a great addition even though I wouldn't be able to utilize it

Nevada Golf Trip - Mequite Area?
fairwayguy2 replied to delav's topic in Golf Courses and Architecture
The second hole you have to climb a steep, narow path up to a tee box on a cliff. It is like one of those calenders with the fake golf holes but in this case it was real. Some of the guys we played with had a tought time getting a little vertigo looking off the tee. I pull a drive hard left and thought Ii was in trouble but wound up cutting the corner to about 135 yeards to the green. Hit the green which was huge and promptly 4 putted. Over all we had a great day on a breathtaking course. -
The Wolf Creek, in Mesquite is worth the drive. Close by in Henderson is Tuscany , a little farther south Boulder city is real nice. The last two are very reasonably priced. Both courses at Primm Valley are real nice as is the Chase at Coyote Springs. I also like the TPC course

Last time I went to Myrtle I went with family so I was a single golfer going out. In most of the resteraunts they have golf magazines where they have a few last minute golfer planners. I used one of them and got some good deals where they were looking to fill a foursome. I played Legends Moorland, Myrtle Beach National and Caladonia all at 50% off. Its worth checking out to get a little more bang for your buck.

Orange County National - Crooked Cat or Panther Lake
fairwayguy2 replied to spogan's topic in Golf Courses and Architecture
I played Panther Lake a while ago 6 or 7 years ago. Real nice layout good bit of water with some forced carries and some nice risk/reward holes. I played real well on it so maybe that's why I like it so much. Real interesting par three holes. -
Well I teed off at 8:15 today with swirling clouds and threatening weather as Irene approached Baltimore. We got through 15 holes when it start to rain and blow, We finished up in the rain so I just I can add playing golf in a hurricane to my bucket list!

I try to always wait till the group in front of my is on the green before I tee off. I do this because by the time I get to my ball the green is usually clear and I can hit my second shot withourt waiting around in the fairway. With me if I hit my second shot without having to stand around the results are better. The pace becomes relaxing and you can shoot the breeze and and agitate you friends waiting to tee off.

What do you use to mark your ball with?
fairwayguy2 replied to Nine Iron's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I have a divot tool from Bulle Rock that I use. It has a magnectic white logo marker. I prefer a white marker. -
Srixon Q-STAR ball
fairwayguy2 replied to erock9174's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
Tonight I played the q star for the first time. I par'ed the first four holes and was three over through eight when the skys opened up and finished 5 over par. (9 holes) I think I love these balls. I tend to draw the ball and these drew a little more than normal. The balls hit into the greens hit and checked immediatly but the greens were wet so that could have been the conditions as well. Very nice ball. -
Do you grip too tight or have hand problems?
fairwayguy2 replied to LeviTee's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I also have problems with grip pressure. I would like to give your product a try, I am an XL left hand.
