  1. It really depends on the hole. For example, in Belas (me home course), the 15th is a pretty long par 5, but is downhill and usually play's down wind. I can never play driver there because I have almos zero room for error. And my second shot is usually a smooth 5 iron or even a 6 iron. I think the worst score I ever had there was a 7 when I hit one OB. Plus I've had 5 eagles there, and a ton of pars and birdies. There's another hole where I play. Same conditons as the above described, but it's not as steep going down. Before the green it has a small stream, just like the 13th at augusta national. Green's smaller though. If my driver shot carries enough down the slope, I usually have an easy 6/7 iron in, but if it doesn't I allaways lay up to about 60 meters away from the green. Thats a 3/4 60º for me.
  2. 1, but it works as a 2 iron
  3. I guess it depends from people to people... I've played some tournaments where people where whatching and when they were pulling for me, I'd go and hit good shots. When they weren't, I'd still give them something to cheer about...
  4. I think that when you fail at something, you should try harder until you get it right. But that's just me...
  5. I have a hill billy that I think that is great. they're pretty cheap in comarison to others
  6. My putting has let me down a lot this year. Too often the ball would go straight to the midle of the hole and the turn away from it
  7. Okay, let's see, I'm 17 years old and I'm an 8 handicaper. I've only gotten serious about the game 2 years ago and I dropped my handicap from 25 to 8 in that period. I love golf and I'm completly addicted to it. I practice has hard as I possibly can every time I'm on the range or at the course, and I'd love to become a pro. But I need help, because I've been stuck with this handicap for the last 3 months. What do you sugest I should do?
  8. For example, Gary Wolmsterhouse (or something like that, I can't really type his last name) was a 23 at age 18, and by the age of 23, he was a scratch. He is one of the legends of the world amateur golf. He won twice the british amateur. Like they said, get a job at your local course in exchage for free practice/ rounds. If you work hard, and smart, enough, someone will notice it and will sponsor you.
  9. Anything above 11 is a good speed for me. I just make every put on those greens
  10. Oh god, I don't know... I've hit so many great shots. And I really mean great shots. Best Recovery Shot 3rd round of the junior national cahmpionship here in Portugal. 6th hole. I pulled my driver way too far left. I mean about 100 yards left of the aiming point. I had this huge tree in front of me and 150 meters to the pin, with the tree being about 30 meters in front of me. I Hi the greatest 6 iron of my life (so far) and set up a nice birdie. I think I left that shot about 1 meter short of the hole. Best Putt A 20 meter snake kinda putt. it went from one end to the other of the green. Best Sand Shot The time I made my first eagle. I pitched in from the bunker. I made great contact that time around from the sand... Best shot from the Rough I had one foot on a fw bunker and another out. I played a great punch hook, just the way I wanted and the ball stopped 1 inch away from the hole for and albatross. Best shot from the fw A small cut that I had to preform perfectly to have the minimal chance of winning a tournament. I played it just the way I wanted to and the ball finished 1 meter away from the hole. I guess these are my best shots ever, but I have so many more great golf shots that I pulled out under pressure...
  11. Create an indoor driving range. Get some mats and a big net. Hit balls into the net
  12. here's your laundry list of things to work on the range. 1st: Posture. Try to get your hands lower so that the shaft bisects the hips/ points at your beltbuckle. Get a touch more flex in your knee's. A very good posture for a guy as tall as you is Sergio Garcia's. Posture. Try to imitate him in that aspect. 2nd: Stance. Get your feet shoulder width appart. 3rd: Take-away. When the club is paralel with the ground (9 o'clock position) the club head is behind your hands. That is a very bad position to have... Leads to a very inconsistent golf swing. Try and take your take-away in one piece. A good drill for you is to put a shaft down the ground, between you and the ball, paralel to the target line. Then place a ball about 3-4 inches away from the shaft. Make your swing, but be careful, the clubhead can never cross the shaft. 4th: Keep the flex in your knees as you are turning away from the ball. Drill for you: Take your stance and posture. Then put a club across your shoulders, paralel to the ground. Try to turn your shoulders without moving your lower body. Doing this you will get a better shoulder turn and you should feel a little pressure in the inside of your leg. Toe in your back foot if you have to to feel this. 5th: Check your grip. There's a great video on youtube that teaches you how to grip the club correctly: http://www.youtube.com/ watch?v=oYYYfFDTZrk 6th: Finish your swing. Try and hold your finish like if your waiting for someone to take a foto of it. I'd say that the easier ones are the ones where the club isn't traveling. Work on those first.
  13. I can't see anything actually. In my humble opinion, if you want us to tell you what are you doing wrong, film your swing at the range or on the course. And film it down the line and front view. Anyway, as I sayid, it looks pretty well from this angle. Too bad you didn't have a ball to hit
  14. Do you only it hit that way with your irons, or also with your woods? It looks like that you are comming too much from the inside and then you are left the club face open at the impac position. Please, post a video
  15. change your grip. It is way too much in the palm of your and...
  16. That's the problem of you guys who live in the US... I live in Portugal, so I can play just about every day of the year... No snow here ^^
  17. The putter you choose has to look great and feel great. It has to be like a 2nd girlfriend/wife to you. You must be in love with it
  18. My father took some lessons when I was about 9/10 years old. One time, he took me and his instructor gave me a junior club (which I still have). A blade 5 iron. But somehow, I could hit that about 100 meters down the fairway pretty damn straight. To this day I still think that that range was miss-mesured. Thats my story. Funny thing, I bet that almost 90% os uf took the game from our father's/brother's...
  19. congrats... Pictures please?
  20. See, I hate the feel of hard balls, and I love to play shots with loads of spin. Thats why I play the pro v1's
  21. Ernie Els who has 16 tour wins will finish his career with 20+ total wins? True. He's only 4 w's away... Anthony Kim will win a major in the next 3 years True Phil Mickelson will win a major this year? True. 2 actually. The british and the us open will be his, I hope... Other wise, the us open will go to Paddy. Tiger will win a major this year? False Vijay Singh will tear it up 2009. 1 major and/or 5 tournement wins? False. His best days are behind him Which young gun in your opinion has the best chance of winning 20 wins in his career. Sergio Garcia
  22. Water usually. When It is really hot and humid, a nice powerade orange flavoured
  23. Putter. I hate it and I love hit. Tough relationship
  24. I guess that your back leg is straightening (I don't know if I wrote it well) during your back swing.
