  1. This is easy to say after the fact, but I thought Jaidee would play well this week and go deep.
  2. I don't expect to learn anything new from his presser tomorrow, other than what his future holds on tour. I certainly couldn't care less about the issues he's dealing with personally. I just want to know when I can start watching golf again...
  3. $135. Was well worth it.
  4. I'll take Sim over Stricker in round 2. Ogilvy to win it all.
  5. What a difference 50 years makes. Back in the 50's and 60's smoking during early telecasts were cliche.
  6. Well, from my perspective a retailer like Carl's (which I am familiar with and have visited) is going to knock on eBay to get you to purchase from them. It's one of those articles that I take with a grain of salt. Personally I have only purchased from eBay a couple of times since its inception.
  7. It doesn't have to be permanent to be serious. I won't get into what I've seen over the years, but permanent impairment wasn't the immediate worry when they happened.
  8. Wow, I must be seriously out of touch. I've never heard of middle schoolers or younger playing varsity sports...
  9. This one's easy. I have a contemporary who grunts like Monica Seles every time he hits the ball. It doesn't matter whether he's on the tee or 100 yards out, he lets go. Unreal. I'm used to it and it doesn't really bother anyone because obviously no one else is hitting at the time, but it is both annoying and funny.
  10. Driver: $299 Hybrid: $175 Irons: $849 Wedges: $225 Putter: $249 Total: $1,797 Thankfully not at one time, and while some were stickered more, that's what I paid for them.
  11. Try out Odyssey's 2010 version of the #9 without the insert - the Black Tour Series. Comparable to a Scotty to me. I like it because it has no insert... a more lively feeling. Cleveland's also coming out with the Classic #2 in that same style but in bronze. Club is called the BRZ I think. Basically same head as the Del Mar and the Odyssey #9, but the Cleveland has an insert I believe.
  12. That's why he's just an aquaintance.
  13. I have a local aquaintance who owns his own outdoor/indoor range with golf shop. He puts yardage markers out knowingly a bit shorter to try to sell that extra driver, thinking people will notice how much further they can hit it. I jokingly tell him I hit my 1988 Snakeskin driver 300 all the time.
  14. To me golf is all about expectations and knowing at what level to put it. That's where patience comes in. High expectations generally equates to less patience, whereas low expectations the opposite. If I was in the situation the OP is in (and I was at one time), while I would desire to get better, my expectation would be as such to keep the frustration level lower. Responsibilities have a way of keeping us all off the TOUR. Just try and enjoy.
  15. Sorry to hear that. He hasn't really been a factor on tour for a few years now, but he was at one time considered one of the best in the world, at least to me. Here's to hoping he doesn't have to hang up his spikes.
  16. I voted no, only because as good as a putter as everyone says/thinks he is, he just doesn't strike me as having the whole package to win the big one.
  17. Pretty much on the same level as Erik's incident. I was playing match-play in a county event a few years ago and mistakenly hit from the wrong set of tees. It wasn't a terrible drive, into the rough, but my competitor made me re-hit from the correct set of tees. I blistered it down the middle and won the hole when my 20 ft birdie putt rolled in. He hit a decent drive also but missed the green - he did get up and down. Needless to say he was a little irked...
  18. Driver: B Iron: C Short Game: B+ Putting: B- Overall: B- Consistency with my iron play is what's holding me back.
  19. Never had that problem with mine. One of the best purchases I ever made. The only thing it could be, barring an actual problem with the unit, is not hitting the flag.
  20. Absolutely finish. Speaking for myself, I'm not a quitter based on how I am. So if I bomb out, so what. Come back another day and do better. The only time I've ever walked off a golf course during a tournament that wasn't weather related was due to injury, never due to poor play.

    Sidney Crosby

The boy can play without a doubt, and one of the best on the ice today. He hasn't erased my fond memories of Super Mario, but he certainly is the spark plug for hockey that Eric Lindros couldn't provide.
  22. I've swayed 180 degrees since 2004 or so. I always used to wear baseball style hats exclusively and I never entertained the thought of anything different. Since that time I almost always wear either a low profile Titleist visor, or the Titleist bucket hats for bright sunny days.
  23. One thing I can comment on are the new Cobra drivers (ZL & S2). Although I have not hit the S2, I have hit the ZL and it is much quieter than any of the previous Cobras. My local rep told me the new S2 will be the same way. I have never owned one because of the sound (I know, piddly), but I like the new Cobra offering. FWIW.
  24. I hear you. I enjoy (although I only get to around 5 times/summer) playing golf at daybreak and fishing an hour before sunset on the same day. Good stuff.
  25. Nice - hopefully you will play well with it. I'm seriously considering the new Odyssey Black Tour #9 because it has no insert and liked the feel after trying it out this past week at a local shop.
