  1. When I said 'NEW" I ment a course you had not previously played before. I finally played Tullymore in Stanwood, MI (#15 on Golf Digest America's 100 Greatest Public Courses) and had a wonderful day of golf. Scored good also.
  2. When was the last time you played a new course? What was the name and location of the course? Did you enjoy it?
  3. Last year during one round I found and returned 3 wedges to 3 different players ahead of me. I lost my 9-iron in a gully on a different day and no one returned it. I still will return other peoples clubs. Hopefully the person using my 9-iron will miss the green every time he uses it.
  4. People forget Golf Course (other than munis) are businesses. Businesses are in business to make money. They lay out or borrow big bucks for the land, designer, builders, materials, equipment, and maintenance of course, buildings and equipment. They need to make a good return or you would be playing in cow pastures or mowing the course yourself before you played.
  5. Congradulations, great job. You are on your way to be a scratch golfer. I would love to break 90.
  6. I recently had the privledge of playing Kingsley Club in Kingsley, MI. It is one of the nicest and toughest courses I have ever played. Being a 21 handicap I was not happy with 56 on the front nine as I made several very poor course management judgements. On the back nine I had 50 and was delighted even though I putted by the edge of the cup by less than half an inch on 4 different holes.
  7. It is not just in golf you find these persons. It is anytime you are dealing with people. Animals have more integerity.
  8. The best time for my local 9-hole course is Monday to Thursday around 11:30am. The morning crowd is gone and the afternoon is still getting ready for lunch. I can walk the 9-holes course in less than one and half hours.
  9. I play it where it stops. As I stated in another tread the only exception is in a non-competition if there are rocks that could damage my clubs I move the ball.
  10. When I play I try to play the ball from where it comes to rest. The only time I move the ball is if there is stones that could damage my clubs. The exception to that is in a competition, then I hit it where it is.
  11. I'm not a great golfer, but on a good day hold my own. I have golfed with the Grandchildren and the one thing I have tried to instill in them is golf courtesy. I pointed out to them the slow and inconsiderate players. The oldest is now in college, but a joy to golf with.
  12. For me it usually everything seems to be working well on the range, then it goes to hell on the course. Only once did it go the other way and I shot 90. Wish that it would happen more often.
  13. I played the Brickyard Crossing in June 2005. It was a fun course and worth the money. Driving the golf cart under the track to the holes on the infield was an interesting experience.
  14. I'll agree with the majority one, but would not be greatly surprised if does not win any.
  15. Do want to take me along with you? Sounds like one hell of a week of golf. Have a fun filled time, I'm just jealous.
  16. OK troops, lets get back to the reason for the tread in the first place. I have been lucky to be invited to play some very nice private courses such as a Cliff's Community (The Valley Course) in SC, Kingsley Club in Michigan, etc. I feel that if I'm invited to play an upscale private course, I should dress for it. Nice shorts (without cargo pockets), A very nice polo shirt from a very nice course I had previously played. An appropriate hat (no Mickey Mouse ears or funny sayings). You would not wear work cloths (jeans, sweat shirt, etc.) to a wedding. Use the same thinking about playing a private course.

    Play Faster

It has already been said play "ready golf." I hate guys who watch each others shot, then go and do the same with each member of the foursome. I hate guys fishing balls out of the pond or lake while groups are backed up behind them. I hate Marshalls who refuse to tell slow groups to speed up. I hate courses that over-book and then don't want to hear about slow play. I DO LOVE GOLF.
  18. 1 day - 36 holes 2 days - 72 holes 1 week - 108 holes 1 year - 85 rounds
  19. I was in mid 50s the first time I ever was on a golf course to play. Shot 88 (for the 1st 9 noles) and 81 for the 2nd 9. I was so mad that I went bought a book on golfing. Read it next day and then went out and shot 68 for 9. It has been coming down ever since.
  20. Congradulations, I know how you feel as I recently shot my all time best, a 91 also. Hopefuly we will both break 90 this year.
  21. One of my golfing friends has a habit of getting on the tee and then starts telling a 3 to 5 minute story. I want to play golf, not stand listening to him on each hole. It seems each year we play less rounds then the year before.
  22. I enjoy walking. If it is very hot or their is a lot of altitute change then a cart is in order. How I play is determined by the great unknown factor. The last two times I played I shot a 91 then 102. The 91 was on a "America's 100 Greatest Public courses". Much tougher than the course I shot 102 on. I think that is why it is called "GOLF".
  23. I smoked 2 to 3 packs of King non-filters for 43 years. One morning I told myself I would hold off till later that morning, then I told myself after lunch, then later in afternoon, etc. After 3 days I realized I could do it on my own. It is only temporary. When they tell me I have 6 months to live. I'll smoke again. Dieing 3 days sooner will not make a big difference. It has now been 5 years of non-smoking. I rarely get the erge and when I do it is very mild. If I can do it anybody can do it.
  24. After driving a big Buicks for years I have now a 2005 Pontiac Grand Am. It works for me and my golf bag. Even room for several bags and golfers.
  25. I'm willing to give it a go. I hope to play on the average at least twice per week this season.
