  1. Not too far away... Bull Run; Virginia oaks. I live near Meadows Farm also. Nothing special; not worth the drive from NVa.
  2. Two questions...How do you get in contact w/this Bach guy and...What the heck is a fugue anyway?
  3. Its annoying but I am getting used to it and all the huge crowds that follow me around on the course. Not.
  4. I found Johnny's remark funny and accurate not stupid. Just Johnny being Johnny.
  5. I like this response also though I don't shoot in the 70s. I often tell my friends no golf course is that hard if you can hit it where you want it to go. Conversely, any golf course can be hard when you can't. I don't mind a good challenging scramble or two but doing so on every hole gets old fast.
  6. When I have no penalty strokes. Means at least I am keeping the ball in play and having a shot at making decent scores on holes even if I'm not hitting every shot or making every putt.
  7. I have had a lot of breakthrough moments when I thought I had found "it". Unfortunately, "it" doesn't work the next round.
  8. Since I live in F'burg, I will keep this list as some must play. I like W'burg Natl (Jamestown course) and ,Tradition Golf Club At Kiskiack (also near W'burg) and Mataponi Springs. I've played at the Homestead (old course) but would love to play the Cascades. I haven't played any courses near Richmond.
  9. I live near F'burg. Here are a few favs: Williamsburg Ntl (Jamestown), Mattaponi Springs, Forrest Green, Virginia Oaks, Tradition Golf Club At Kiskiack, The Homestead (old course), Nansemond River. Cannon Ridge and Augustine are good along w/the Gauntlet. .
  10. I served from 1976 to 1996. Made it through PI and OCS. Mostly East Coast; Lejeune, Quantico, Norfolk. Logistics Officer. Still work/support the Corps as a contractor.
  11. I use a slightly strong grip for most of my shots except I stregthen it for the driver to reduce my slice. I used to use the same interlocking grip for putting but recently changed to overlapping w/good results. So I guess you could say I have 3 grips also. My golf game however is probably more like tiggers rather than Tigers!
  12. I normally use a hard ball usually the Cally Warbird. Good distance but no feel and forget stopping it at all. However, lately my driving has gotten a lot straighter so I played half a round w/a PV1 that I had found. My distance off the tee was a little less especially w/any mishit drive. However, if my distance was too the pin the PV1 stopped. I'm not talking pro back up spin but maybe one hop and just a little roll out. Much better than the hard ball where the roll out is 10 or 12 feet or more. I love the PV1 but like other just can't see paying the price right now. I may try some the balls mentioned above just to see how I hit them.
  13. I use interlocking because I couldn't find anything else that worked better and it feels natural since I use it for all other strokes.
  14. On the gof channels "the Turn" this week they looked at this very subj. They said it was quiet lower body, increase arm speed (not hand speed), and low follow through. Like most golf shots, you would probably get 3 different answers if you asked 4 people.
  15. He was interviewed on air after his round yesterday and was calm, funny, and informative. He plays quick and seems to have his ego under control. He went to Vandy and is from Nashville I think.
  16. Stewart Cink. He's from Ga and carries himself well on and off the course. Snedeker would be a young gun I would pull for. Course Im a Phil fan first.
  17. Aren't you always aiming at a certain spot regardless of what type shot your hitting? I mean don't you have to aim for a hook or draw? You have to have a target regardless. Its either where you want the ball to end up or what line you want it to start on.
  18. I pay attention to the distance markings on the fairways and tee boxes. After a while, you have hit your clubs enough to know what club goes approx what distance. Of course, you have to hit enough decent shots to determing what a good swing will produce w/each club.
  19. I agree on some of your gripes especially even coverage. Heck, if Tigers even in the tourny his group is about all you see. However, some of the other add ons I find entertaining. I don't like it sometimes when they just focus on people putting but dont show enough tee or approach shots.
  20. I have a preshot routine but don't always take a practice "full shot". The main reason is that I don't want to lose my allignment target that usually a couple of feet in front of the ball. I think I will try next time I play to get my alignment target; set my stance to where I am aligned but cant reach the ball, make a full practice swing to check ball placement etc, move in and swing.
  21. He's 6 over after todays round. Has he had a below par round in his last few events? I don't recall any but probably no more than one or two. He would have a hard time making cuts on the nationwide tour. He will have a hard time getting any sponsors exemptions next year unless something unexpected happens.

  23. I have a chevy trail blazer for my work. A chevy Tahoe for the wife; and a Porsche Boxster for the weekend.
  24. Porsche Boxsters have two trucks. The back holds the clubs and the front has enough room for a weekend gettaway. The engine is in the middle.
