  1. really? I'm the opposite... I was using TT shafts in my MP 60's...then I hit a friend's MP 60's with his PX 6.5's and they felt great....I called and told them my SS and they told me to get the 5.5's which is what I've got on right now..and my game's only gotten better... definitely a HUGE difference in feel from the TT's...but I love the diff.
  2. 4 boxes of Pro V1's that will hopefully last me until December!
  3. this is how I picked my clubs...ask to do a blind test...sure it takes some time...like an hour or so...but you're not influenced in anyway by name brands..just on feel and the results.... after you pick the club that gives you the most consistent hit, feel and promotes confidence.... play it for a while...then look into changing your shafts out... as you establish a repeatable swing that produces a straight ball and a consistent trajectory... you can get shafts to switch out that will get you your optimal ball flight.... don't go TOO crazy...my 2nd season i changed my driver shaft 3 times as my SS increased and I got better... but the 3rd shaft is what I used my 3rd year and going into this year.... don't think I'll be changing it out anytime soon..
  4. Srixon sent over a few sleeves of their Tri-Speed tour ball..and I'm really digging it.. it's hot off of the face...the spin is ok... distance is great.... and the feel is pretty good... BUT it still feels diff when putting compared to my fave ball of last year: the One Tour. TM sent over a sleeve of Pentas that I'm dying for the weather to get warmer so I can try them out...everyone that i've spoken to has given them great reviews.
  5. my thoughts exactly.. anytime I have a wedge up to a 9 in hand..i really expect myself to have a legit chance at bird... if I have anything like a 5 - 7 in hand.. I try to select a quadrant that I'll be happy with for a 2 putt par....
  6. all the faults that you mentioned are easy fixes...the more you play...the more you get comfortable with shots and your swing in general.. if you have a free lesson....see if he'll take you out onto the course...and work with you there... that was the best thing that someone ever gave me for my birthday..it wasn't a lesson...it was a golf pro coming out onto the course with me to teach me how to think like he does... helped me realize different things and see things in a different light....
  7. 360 up hill into the wind dog leg left. you have to throw the ball out about 200 yards before you can start turning the ball over with a draw to clear the hill and the left tree line. I played the perfect draw (in my eyes) and was just about 95 yards away to an elevated green..... let's not discuss the 2nd shot where I flew the green with a SW
  8. there's 2 of them that I consider to be equally difficult at my home course: There's no exact yardages now b/c the course is currently being extended & tee boxes are changing..but Francis Byrne #12: 448 Par 4 straight up hill & normally plays into the wind. Pretty tight fairway the closer you get to the green & the FW slopes down to the right.... trees on both sides. The FW is sloped enough that your ball will run down the hill onto the rough of #11... you're supposed to aim left b/c the ball is below your feet...but tons of times I've aimed left and my ball's been knocked down by trees. Even after monster tee shots, you're still 170 out b/c of the slope of the hill.... Green isn't too tight..protected by a bunker on the right side...and if you fly the green...you could hit the cart path and end up on #13, #15 or anything like that. #15: 440 up hill dog leg left. you can bomb a tee shot here and unless you work the ball with a draw...you're dead in the woods... to the right you're dead..and if you turn the ball over too much, you're dead in those woods. FW slopes to the left....green is heavily protected by 2 bunkers on the left... to the right it's dead in the trees and the back of the green is woods....short is ok... but it's almost a 2 tier green...if the flag is playing back left....after a good tee shot, you'll be left with a 5 or 6 iron from 170 out...and it's a pretty hard green so i've bounced off too many times!
  9. Fraser - The Track List is on the soundcloud site.
  10. Just thought I'd share my latest club mix download with everyone on here. 99 tracks in 78 minutes from genres: hip hop. reggae. r&b.; reggaeton. house. club. classics. funk. electro. pop. rock Enjoy http://soundcloud.com/dj-yoshi/dj-yo...shi-experience
  11. Height: 5'8 Where are you from: NY/NJ How Long have you been Playing: this will be my 4th year playing Best Score: casual round: 73. tournament: 83 Favorite club in the bag: Exotics CB2 Tour 5 Wood...prettiest club in the bag Golf Books / DVD's that have helped you: I haven't read any yet Where do you play: Mainly in Jersey and upstate NY...but I'm fortunate enough to travel A LOT and played over 80 courses around the world. Best courses you've played so far: Essex County Country Club, NY Country Club, Doral, Winged Foot, Mayakoba, Ka'anapali, Turtle Bay, Chamber's Bay, Harding Park and there's something about Celebration in FL that makes me want to go back and play every time that i'm in Orlando Things you enjoy most about golf: atmosphere...nature...calmness...it's my happy place away from my crazy life Goals for 2K10: CONSISTENCY. and a better longer iron game.... re-gain my confidence b/c my shanks issue to end 2009 has SCREWED ME UP
  12. my typical miss has always been to the right.... when i'm on.. i'm on and have the confidence that if I miss, I'll get up and down... but when I go thru the shanks, the inconsistency, the yips...whatever it might be.... I can be off as much as a full club...and I've taken a 9 iron which by the time you're a single digit...i'd say you should be hitting it within 20 feet a majority of the time.... I've hit it as far off on a simple 140 yard shot by as much as 30 yards to the right of the green.... but the typical miss on all my shots is right and short
  13. Unless you pay for the upgrade of the shaft: the Mitsubishi/Rayon shafts on drivers aren't the custom shafts that you'd purchase from them... A lot of companies now are offering Diamana (REAL DIAMANA) shafts as an upgrade to your stock shaft. Best bet is to just let him fit you. The Mitsubishi Diamana shafts are GREAT. I use the WhiteBoard D73 in my driver. It's around $299 for the shaft. Woods I like them heavier so I use BlueBoard D83. Miura is a GREAT iron manufacturer. Many say that Nike bit some of their design of the blades when coming up with Tiger's blades.... some even rumored that Tiger had Miura make his blades and they put a nike stamp on it.... I've played a few rounds with their blades and they're dope...
  14. to me the sound of a purely hit driver is relaxing.......
  15. F dropping extra dollars... sure I have nice clubs & shafts...but I test everything... and then buy my sh** from a wholesale spot or a retailer...unless I get a discount from spots. but maybe you do want to get paired up with him so you can show him that your $29 driver works just as well as his $650 driver.
  16. 1. Consistently in the low to mid 70's by July. 2. drop below 4.9 to hopefully a 2.5 or better by September 3. Stop getting mad at myself for terrible shots 4. Keep cool and let the past bad shots be just that.. in the past 5. Stop going after pin placements that just challenge you to hit "the perfect shot"
  17. in his testimonial and follow up interview about it when he appealed to the IOC Tiger said he'd be interested in playing in 2016....from what I remember....
  18. just make sure you stay tuned into the dates for our region's handicap season. HC season ended October 1st so play as much as you want now and don't worry about jackin your HC up! haha
  19. I'm booked in Minneapolis and the North Dakota areas 6 times a year.. and NEVER after September or before May.... I've learned even then... pack stuff for 90 degree weather down to 40 degree weather.. IN THE SUMMER! But again..I love how we were on the course till 10 during the summer...I was in HEAVEN. 7AM - 10pm golf! what?!
  20. me personally coming from a sports entertainment background from the NBA, ties in the NFL, and MLB.... it varies...BUT the big contract names are one and done. sneakers, shoes, batting gloves, hats are one and done. baseball's a little different b/c they have to break in the mitts so they keep them for the year and get a new shipment at the beginning of the new year to start breaking in. when at was with the Nets there was a room in the office that people would be like ARE YOU SERIOUS? you walk in..every player..sneakers to the top... practice jersey's etc... Jay Kidd would give away his kicks after each game..you see people like Lebron and Kobe doing that too... Jordan really started it asking for a new pair of kicks for every game... why I don't know..b/c I HATE breaking in new shoes. but a lot offer their stuff for charities...depends if they have deals or not.
  21. in your backswing you should be able to completely lift up your left foot (if you're a righty) and still be balanced.... then to power transfer make your swing when you step down and then you should be able to pick up your right foot and be balanced off of that.... (for getting the weight transfer feeling). for a more stable lower body...what I do when I'm practicing is stand with my foot together and swing that way..... hit a good 15 - 20 balls.... don't try to crank it... it'll get you to make a full shoulder turn and stay balanced since you're feet are together...it's harder to stay balanced thru the full swing since you don't have a stable base.... take the swings....concentrate on your full shoulder turn and keeping your arm straight...but most importantly...concentrate on your tempo...the same tempo you have in that drill...take that into the full stance and let me know if your hip move has become more silent
  22. I was just in Minneapolis.... I find it funny how when I played like 10 days ago...it was a good 70 degrees...and now it's in the 50's? That's insane. but I love how during the summer..the sun doesn't set till about 1015

    13* 3 Wood

Thank you for that. and thanks everyone for your thoughts.... My current driver gives me anywhere from 250 - 310 off of the tee depending on the hole that I'm playing. My 3 wood is my go to club for 220 - 260.. (although I cranked one off the tee the other day for 285...I was surprised myself) I'll just choke up if I need the shorter distance. I've been in my lowering my score so play the safer shot..and maybe 1/2 of the tee shots lately I've been going with 3 wood... even on some par 5's I'll go 3 wood off of the tee since I can work that a little better than my driver. My 5 wood is about my 210 - 230 depending on the hole, conditions and if I really crank it. So distance wise...maybe my gaps are fine the way they are... I'm just really wanting to the a cb2 3 wood and get rid of my burner '07 15 degree... anyone want a burner 15 degree with a Accuflex proto shaft? stiff. 73 gram tipped 1"? haha

    Eagles?

had 3 in the past 2 weeks. 1st: short part 5. 270 to the center of the fairway on a dog-leg left par 5. after you reach it..it's about 250 to the green down hill. I hit a perfect 5 wood from the 1st cut. and had a little under 10 feet on a pin high putt. 2nd: short par 4. 3 wood off of the tee. 70 yards away for my approach shot. 3/4 sand wedge perfectly...it hit, bounced and you saw the ball disappear into the cup. 3rd: REALLY short par 4. 3 wood off the tee...30 yards left to the center. I played the hole earlier in the day so I already knew where to aim for and it would trickle into the hole.. my brother was on the green....it's an elevated green. I chipped it and it feel great and said ok I'll be happy with a birdie.. my brother screams GET IN (it's his 2nd month playing golf..he gets excited).. and he goes holy sh** you got an eagle... I was all happy and said whooo awesome...took my ball out of the cup and was kind of mad I didn't watch it go in. he talks about seeing my eagle chip go in more than I do... This is the 1st time I've talked about it actually.
  25. We can all play pretty badly unless you're like this scratch & + HC's. For example at Crystal springs I went out shooting a 38, but came in shooting a 49...a 49! GROSS!
