gobluemich replied to frogger's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Balls, Tees, divot tools, ball markers, set of all different colored sharpies, pencils, rain coat and pants, bag cover, water bottles, rain, winter and normal gloves, athletic tape, spike wrench, extra pair of socks, reflector sticks and then whatever I have in my pockets before my round like change and my phone. -
How do you mark your ball for identification?
gobluemich replied to SergioFan23's topic in Golf Talk
Is this supposed to be binary for 54? I use Callaway tour I balls and they have the 6 deeper dimples that are spaced equally apart across the ball and I put a green dot in each. Makes mine distinguishable no matter how it sits. -
I guess I got a steal at $150 for an individual then $50 for each family member after, until 4 then it's free after that. I broke even real quick considering a large bag of balls is $10.

I love the tour i and just to let you know gppgolf.com has a way better deal $35 for 18 balls

I would have to think Yao Ming would have to be big just because all of the Chinese fans. And when you start putting in names from years back you lose a lot of possible people just because the worlds population has grown by almost 2 billion (increase of over 40%) in the last 20 years. The worlds population has almost doubled since Ali's & Pele's days.

See if you lived farther north you wouldn't of got that snow . I have around 8 or 9 rounds in this year granted a few a have been with snow on a few holes, and there still is some snow on the course where the trees block the sun but that's only one hole. Personally I just wish it would stop being so winding. Today isn't bad almost 50 and sun shine going out in 30 mins. Josh

Bridgestone B330-RX - a revelation!
gobluemich replied to misty_mountainhop's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I have no clue where it would make a difference and actually how hard the ball would have to be. When there talking a soft and hard ball there really isn't that much difference between to two. It's not like you can squeeze the soft ball in your hands. And then it's not like a hard ball is a solid piece of steel. That's why you can hit almost any ball hard or soft and they will go pretty close to the same distance. It's not like one is 10% farther than another even if one is the hardest and the other is the softest. And at 105 I don't think any ball made would be to hard. Maybe at 50 -

A firmer ball will only go further to a certain point and then you wont be able to compress the ball enough and the lack of compression will affect the amount of time the ball stays on the face of the club and will then in turn affect the amount of energy transferred from the club to the ball. Too hard of ball will decrease distance just like too soft of ball will decrease distance. You need the ball to be in contact with the face of the club to transfer energy and compressing the ball allows for more time which will allow for more energy transfer. Up until a certain point when the ball has deformed to much and has used to much energy deforming. But I'm not saying any ball made is too hard. I don't know if they make balls that are actually to hard where they don't compress enough. Or what the swing speed would have to get down too where a softer ball would go further. In the sports science episode here when they did the cold vs. warm balls the warm ball which would be softer went farther then the cold, harder ball. It starts around 4:00. -

Best Course you are planning on playing in 2009?
gobluemich replied to chriskzoo's topic in Golf Talk
I should be playing Pilgrims Run in less than a month, then Egypt Valley Country Club the Valley Course a few weeks after and then hopefully will play forest dunes later in the year. Then maybe some other nice courses in Michigan. Here is a picture of forest dunes and a link to there site http://www.forestdunesgolf.com/ It's a beautiful course out in the middle of no where. But I live close, only about 15-20 mins. -
Then unless your looking to buy some new equipment, I would go golfing. But if I had the decision I would go to the show because I going to be buying new stuff like wedges, a hybrid, balls and maybe some shoes.
-
Go golf on Friday and go to the golf show on Saturday or Sunday. I have been trying to decide if I should come down earlier so I can golf then go the to Show on Sunday. Since I live in northern Mi we still have lots of snow on the ground.

I would say upgrade the wedges first since they are your scoring clubs and will help you get up and down around the greens. This is also what I upgrade first. And you say you really want then anyways. Josh

gppgolf.com has tgw by around $10 on every wedge. They have all major brands under $100 for wedges. Cleveland, Titleist, Callaway. If the golf show wasn't going to be next weekend I would've probably ordered this years vokeys for $99. Then both sites have the same flat rate shipping price of $6.99. I have dealt with gppgolf a lot and have never had a problem. You can even get $10 if you become a fan on facebook. They also have great prices on the callaway tour i and ix balls and the new bridgestone b330 rx i did buy some of these. Josh

You can do a search on paintfill and find lots of information on the web. But here is what I did. 1. Clean clubs 2. Put acetone into a small glass jar (acetone will eat through most plastics) that will fit the club head 3. Let clubs soak for 10 mins or so 4. Take out and wipe down, most paint should come out 5. Use a toothpick or pin to get the rest of the paint out, a brush will work good also 6. Fill whatever you want with paint, I like to do one color at a time and tape off sections once they are finished, and start in the middle and work out with different colors 7. let dry for 30 mins or so 8. put some acetone on a paper towel and pull across the filled area gently with the paper towel flat 9. then just repeat 6-8 for extra colors I used straight acetone but nail polish remover can be used. And I used Testors enamel paint. Then like I said once one section is dry I covered it with painters tape. -
The Nike Victory Red irons
gobluemich replied to right handed phil mickelson's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I have the blades and like them a lot but I haven't been able to play a round with them yet since I live in northern Michigan. But i have hit them outside at a covered range once and hit them into the net a lot. I personally think they're pretty forgivable when compared to other blades. I can't say anything on the distance because when i hit outside it was only 35* and was hitting cold balls and you can't really tell where the balls land in the snow -

Here is a picture of my nike victory red blades. I bought these on ebay and the person took out all the paintfill then put green in the swoosh only. I don't care for green and since I'm a Michigan fan I went with dark blue and yellow. Then here is my Rife hybrid two bar putter. I put in a metallic blue to match the center lines then added some gold. -
The thing that interested me the most at first was the rules official asking about the shot. And after John said it was out of the rough the official started asking others for help. So what I'm wondering if this shot was from the fairway not the rough if the official would've granted relief because he must have thought he wouldn't get enough spin out of the rough for that to happen with the ball flight John described. Because really how many times does someone actually see if the ball lands in it's own pitch mark. They would be able to tell if it just landed and plugged without a bounce but then in most cases like that they are playing lift, clean and place anyway. I think they made the right call because you couldn't prove it was his pitch mark. Even though I'm almost positive it was his own pitch mark. I highly doubt anyone else landed there all day because he was in the rough and behind a tree with his drive so he had to layup. And I doubt anyone else really laid up there all day because it was a par 4. So that's why I believe it was his mark. And just to clarify it was a par not a birdie.

About 15 miles, you go out m-72 east about 9 miles on the right hand side is Chase Bridge Rd the left hand side is Wakely Bridge Rd turn right on Chase Bridge Rd and go about 5 miles and on the left there is a sign for Forest Dunes the road is South Branch Rd go down that for 1 1/2 miles and the gate is on the left. -

Yup from Grayling I have mapped the Grayling Cuontry club for the sureshot and a couple other local courses but not fox run. Canoeing is one of the reasons most people come but not necessarily golf unless they are going to Gaylord to golf. There is a real nice course but expensive outside of Roscommon called Forest Dunes you might want to give it a try, it is out in the middle of nowhere.
