Ooh, thanks, I haven't watched that one in ages. I finally watched the Godfather for the first time a couple years back. I'll say this, it's better than the Deer Hunter.
-
Casablanca and Gone With The Wind are on my list as well. I'll add The Color Purple Dr Strangelove ( I own the damn thing, but I repeatedly fall asleep after ten minutes) Seabiscuit The Blind Side I have also never watched any of The Fast And Furious series

That's the setup on my golf cart. Full enclosure, propane heater, spare bottle just in case. The beginning and end weeks of our men's league can be brutally cold.

Check Out This Illusion and How it Relates to Golf!
Warren Zevon replied to Vinsk's topic in Golf Talk
I've really been having issues hitting behind the ball lately. I'm going to give this a try. -
I hope it happens, but wouldn't be surprised if it didn't. Granted, it's from crap I've read on the internet, but some of the smaller market teams actually want to shut down, as opposed to having to carry a full salary payroll with reduced, if any, profits. As an Oilers fan, I'd love to be able to see more games than two against Toronto and Montreal.

Ravenous is one of my favorites. Thanks for the mention, it's time to dig the dvd out of the basement and give it a whirl again. I wasn't impressed with Bone Tomahawk, but I was shocked by that one scene.

Anyone else get their email reminder to make picks for tomorrows tournament? I didn't.

The Taking Of Pelham 123(1974) Eagle I'd never seen this before, but man was I impressed. This one is all thriller, no filler.

I dunno, I seem to have a pretty solid lock on DFL at the moment. B

The Day After (1983) Par. Made for tv movie from the Cold War era about what would happen to the States if Nukes were used in war. For '83 and a being on network television, this one wasn't bad. The visuals are obviously dated, but still worth a watch. There's a fair number of current actors who you'll recognize, too. Threads (1984) Birdie. This was the English take on the same subject, except shot with way less money and it followed a somewhat different direction than TDA. Honestly, I 'liked' this one more, although I have to admit that this is an even darker, bleaker take than its counterpart. The feeling of dread and hopelessness stuck with me for a day or so afterwards. I'm going to rewatch this again at some time in the future, but for right now, just...no.

I'm going to watch episode five in the next few days. I'd think this show was more weird that it is if I hadn't watched The Wicker Man last weekend. Amateurs. Don't get your hopes up on that one. The creator has pretty much put the nail in that coffin. I still can't understand the makeup used in season 2. I still can't fathom the decision to paint |Anna Torvs face that hideous off yellowish color.

I watched it once, and once only. I caught a few minutes on cable a few years back, but quickly switched to something else. I watched Rising Sun dozens of times back when we had one of those old school huge satellites. Had a really good Connery 'kohi' impersonation for a while, too. It's been forever since I've seen a lot of his movies. Sounds like a good time to revisit a few.

I actually liked the League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen. I kind of gave up on Connery after The Avengers, but all is forgiven now.

Good for Bubba to speak out about his problems, and it's even better that he's found his own way of dealing with his anxiety. What struck me as somewhat odd is that there's not much mention of any sort of professional therapy. From my own experience, I've found it quite helpful, though damn expensive.

Midway - Par. Fine performances from a well stacked cast. Never boring nor slow, yet it still seems to be missing that little thing that makes a good film great. Ed Skrein didn't wow me as the male lead, but he was still decent.

Well crap, Tampa is still partying, and the Oilers next season is already looking gloomy. McDavid just tested positive for the 'Rona, and the teams closest thing to a number one d-man reportedly has an arthritic shoulder. Business as usual...

Best Bang for the Buck Home Golf Simulator
Warren Zevon replied to drawbar's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
@khalespace, if you haven't checked this site out already, do so. It's an easy home run for resources with a good membership base. Also, although I have neither the Mevo+ nor the Skytrak yet, from what I've learned the Mevo requires a fair bit of space to be used. Skytrak has a three or four second delay after each shot, which turns a lot of people off. And if you haven't finished your garage yet, it may be a good idea to plan ahead for some of the requirements you'll need. I finished my garage two years ago with a simulator being the end goal , (well that and heating the damn thing), a couple of things I regret not doing is having my electrician switch my light setup to a dimmer function, and in hindsight I wish I would have paid a bit more and went with some noise dampening drywall and insulation. Now I'm looking at mounting a metric shit ton of acoustic panels, which will be no fun at all. I'm no expert in this by any means, just a dude who's been where you are. Feel free to pm me if you have any questions. -
What Are Your Winter Goals?
Warren Zevon replied to Themightyoz's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I'm building a simulator in my garage. It's about 40% done, although I still haven't ordered my Skytrak yet. Aside from practicing with that, I want to do a lot more yoga this winter. -
And a lot of familiar names that you recognize, yet wouldn't choose. I'm looking at you, Hunter Mahan.

Speaking from experience, missing weeks is not a good thing.

What I find very inspiring is that he made probably eight or so films in the past four years while silently battling the disease. I also saw a picture of him from a video chat a couple of months back, and he looked very, very thin. I really enjoyed the James Brown biopic he did a while back. Tonight I might check out Da 5 Bloods, or possibly rewatch his guest appearance from season four of Fringe. Anyways, feel free to choke on a big ol' dick, cancer.

I watched all of season one a while back. It wasn't great, but after a few episodes you can't help but be sucked in. Ralph Macchio is still not the greatest actor in the world.

After reading this thread I won't bitch about the $450 I pay for trail fees at my course.

Lovecraft Country came out Sunday. I'm getting a little bit of a Twin Peaks vibe in this one, as I have a vague idea what's going on, but if asked about it I wouldn't have the slightest idea how to explain it. But, that opening scene, sheesh. Just about made me want to call my dealer to see if my last bag was laced with angel dust...

Ah well, at least the Oilers have a 12% chance at the first overall draft pick.
