So, what does this mean? Does this mean that somehow my everyday life where I go to work, keep it together, and don't continuously shoot myself in the foot like John Daly does......isn't real? Are real life situations where you make millions and millions of dollars, gamble and drink it away, marry a drug dealer, punch out hotel room walls, and try to make a comeback wearing oversized Ian Poulter clothing? C-mon dude, give me a break. He isn't dealing with "real life situations". He's dealing with the fact that he's continually pizzed away his fantasy land life. He's made a lot of bad choices, and keeps getting second, third, fourth chances. No sympathy here. He might be a nice guy, but that only gets you so far. Good luck to him. But I think the ending of this story is easy to predict.
-
I've got to take a second though, to talk about Phil. Heck of an attempt at a comeback today. I know he faded off at the end, but he did make it pretty dang exciting for the middle of the broadcast. His 2nd shot on #5 (I think it was 5) from the pine straw, was one of the best I've seen in a looong time. That hook he hit out of the pines to about a foot or so from the flagstick, was pretty awesome. Anyways......good win Cabrera, even if that choking dog gave it to you.

If Kenny Perry wasn't such a nice guy, I'd call him a choking friggin' dog. But like I said, he's such a nice guy.....so I won't do that.

Step up and get yourself some Classics Dry Premiers. Those are real golf shoes. The only other brand of golf shoe that can even come close in any way, is Ecco. -
Uh-oh.....guess that darned vertigo is back.

Are you really good enough to play your equipment
egehoski replied to AbsoluteZero's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Yes, I am. -
Yes. I like Boo. He's just like John Daly.....except for the fact that he actually has a golf game, and isn't an idiot. Just so that we're clear...I'm saying that John Daly has no golf game. And I'm saying that John Daly is in fact, an idiot.
-
Are you kidding me? First of all...How in the world do you know he has a heart bigger than the world? Because someone told you that he does? Because you heard it on The Golf Channel? I'm so sick of hearing this all of the time from people. What has he done, to make him SUCH a great guy? Gimme something good here. Something that most of the other players don't already do also. Why is it that you think we've all had similar troubles in our lives? I've never lost most of my net worth in casinos. I gamble within my means. I've never torn up hotel rooms, or busted up my hands punching walls while fighting with my wife. I'm not an alcoholic, that refuses to man up and fix my situation. I guess I just don't get the whole John Daly sympathy campaign. And to top it all off, the guy can't play anymore. If you guys want to feel bad for a guy that chose his own path, and pi**ed all over it......good luck to you.
-
He is going cover the bag with $1000.00 bills, in triple layers. Because he can.
-
The guy is a non-issue. He is not a factor in tournaments anymore, and truthfully he is not that much of a draw anymore. He has virtually played his way off of the tour in recent years, and eventually the sponsor's exemptions would go away as his popularity decreases. The guy is a complete idiot, and has proven this to be true over and over. The fact that some of you are "pulling" for him, is ridiculous. Forget about him, he's done. People need to stop talking about him, and he will just go home. Maybe he is a nice guy, whatever. There are a lot of nice guys in the world. Most of them don't get 500 chances to clean up their acts, and millions of dollars thrown at them to pi** away over and over. Ridiculous.

Yes, UPS is terrible with golf clubs. They've gotten me 3 or 4 times. Another word for the wise.....If this ever happens, and the purchase was through tgw.com: Don't bother going through the replacement process. Unless you want to wait 2 months, and log 4 or 5 hours total on hold trying to talk to a rep on 5 seperate occasions. That was a lesson learned. My experience has been that the Postal Service is top notch. But, you can't choose the shipper on most occasions.

There is a big difference between being laid back, and altogether not giving a ****. I'm not talking about just one thing. I mean, people drink. People chase women. Whatever. But Daly is just one big mess after another, over and over again. I'm so sick of that circus clown. He's just about done, anyway. He will never, ever win again. Take it to the bank.

No, you are wrong. Two Tour wins for Goydos. Maybe less well known to "Big Break Fanatics", than Gainey. But not to regular Tour fans. No way. I realize that this has nothing to do with the original topic, but that was way wrong.

Legends Reno-Tahoe Open...Michelle Wie is playing!
egehoski replied to underparnv's topic in Tour Talk
Whooooooo cares??? Not me. I wish people would just leave it alone. She's gonna miss the cut by a mile. Eventually she will figure out what's up, and play with the girls...or she will fade away. She doesn't deserve all of the attention. From media coverage, to 8 pages of forums. If people stop caring, the subject will go away. Wait until she actually DOES something before you give her this many pages on a golf forum. That's my first and last post to a Wie forum topic, until she does something worthwhile. Let's talk about Chez Reavie. He appears to be actually doing something. -
Assuming the Top 8 stay the same, these would be my 4 choices... 1- Woody Austin 2- Rocco Mediate 3- Zach Johnson 4- Sean O' Hair The 4th choice was a toss up for me. The guys from about 11 to 30 seem so weak to me compared to 10 years ago. As far as some pairings go..these are a couple that I think might work well: 1- Weekley & Austin 2- I like the Mickelson & Perry that someone else suggested. 3- Cink & Furyk 4- Kim & Leonard was another good one brought up. 5- Mediate & anybody (he seems like a guy anybody would want to play alongside)

All things considered, I think that the Golf Channel is great all around. There are shows that I'm not that big on, but for the most part I watch it quite a bit. I think the Thurs and Fri coverage of the golf is awesome. The fact that I am able to watch the 1st and 2nd rounds in the evening, is priceless. I also like the Post game coverage, and the seemingly non-stop coverage during the majors. I also like the 19th hole, and whatever that Andrew Magee show is called. Not real big on this new show, where they race. Someone mentioned Peter Kessler. I don't miss him. I like pretty much all of the commentators/analysts that they have now. As a whole, I like the way they're doing things these days on the Golf Channel.

I would say if I were a guy that just stayed in the Top 100-125 each year though, I'd be a rich man. Big difference between those guys, and the guys juuuust a little bit further down the line. Even if you were one of those "strugglers" on the mini-tours, or an on-again/off-again tour player...I think we'd all give our left jewel to do it. I know I would.
-
The only thing on that list that I think they get for free, is a courtesy car. And I'm not even sure if ALL of the players get that every week. And don't forget, they're paying a caddy every week. Even if they miss the cut, that caddy's costing them 800 - 1000 no matter what. Then the caddy also gets a percentage of earnings each week, on top of that fee. Plus, they do pay an entry fee. (someone asked that) But I don't think it's much.

lose the 3 iron and go to 3 wedges?
egehoski replied to JYB's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I use the 3 wedge set-up. A 54 Vokey, a 60 Vokey, and a 58 Cleveland with extra bounce. Gives me some variety. The varying bounces on the clubs comes in handy. -
Doesn't look good. Looks like the "Kenny Perry machine" is rollin again this week. That man is on fire lately. Geez Kenny, give these guys a chance at a win.
-
Good luck with that! Might as well throw John Daly in there too. Ain't going to happen.

High handicapper w/ slice looking for cheap driver
egehoski replied to mattengland's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
In my opinion, you should look for a used Taylor Made r7 of some sort. One of the older models. I know that you can find them relatively cheap, and I know that you can help that slice with one. Tons of 'em on ebay. -
This is kind of an unusual product tip, but I've found this product to work wonders. Have you ever noticed that when you buy a new club, sometimes the companies tend to "bulletproof" the club and shaft with stickers?? This is true with new and used stuff. Sometimes the used stuff is the worst, because the stickers have been on there for a long time. When you finally get the stickers off, the junk left behind is a pain. Well I bought a bottle of Goo Gone from Home Depot a while back, and the stuff is awesome for that. Actually it's great for lots of cleaning, but it works wonders for this. One or two swipes with a rag, and you're done. Just an FYI for any of you that have spent lots of time getting all of that crap off of your new club(s). I'm sure you can get it lots of places, but H Depot has it for sure if anybody's interested. It's called Goo Gone, and it's saved me at least an hour of time in the past 6 months.

Yes, I saw Austin "teeing" it up like that. He's playing well, so I won't knock the guy. If it works, it works I guess. He is definitely a strange dude though, all around. Juzmi, I totally agree with you on Dustin Johnson. He absolutely pummeled his tee shot on #16 Friday. He was 40 yds beyond any other ball I'd seen hit on that hole up to that point. And I sat in the "landing area" on 16 for about 2 hours. Somebody else said something about guys being sneaky long also. Yes, I did notice that as well. Justin Leonard was one. He hit a pretty darn nice 300 yd power fade, uphill, on #12. That's pretty good for a short hitter, I'd say. Any one of us could beat that guy up, but he can still out drive 99% of us. And even though everybody knows C. Howell III hits it pretty long, he can't weigh only about 80 lbs soaking wet. He looks anorexic when you see him in person. Then he proceeds to bomb one, and you just say "How".
