  1. My (late) wife became an avid golfer after the kids were grown. Best deal ever. Monthly dues bill came - paid without a glance. Random Amazon packages - probably for her. Shoot, she practically kept the local big box golf store in business with her clothing purchases. Come to think of it I wonder why I wasn’t complaining. But thought the rant was hilarious.
  2. Our course has a trash can on every tee. Except #8 and not sure what happened there. And our tee boxes look like the lowest low end public course. If nothing else pile them next to the tee box. Particular pet peeve of mine because I once hit a tee laying flat just under the surface causing a shank that almost hit someone on the next tee box.
  3. My choices would be: 1) Broken tees. For heaven’s sake just bend over and pick up your tee. And a special corner in golf h*ll for anyone who knocks it further into the ground. 2) Not a fan of music on the course but if you must keep it so barely audible outside your cart. And not during tournaments! 3) Ball marks and divots are easy to fix. If you’re so helpless you can’t fix them take up a different hobby. Like knitting.
  4. I’ve had my share of foot problems so (unfortunately) speak from experience. I’ve had good luck with Power Step inserts. Also, if you’re looking for increased stiffness you might want to look at some steel turf toe inserts.
  5. Yeah. I've heard they work for peanuts.
  6. Does the elephant use a bag to carry his clubs? Or does he use his trunk?
  7. Wasn't so much "a" shot yesterday but my putting was pretty ridiculous. 11 one putts most in the 10 to 20 foot range. Put a couple by the edge as well. 2 birdies, 6 par s and 3 bogeys. Don't expect that a lot but made it a fun day.
  8. Our club has gone to 15 minute tee times as well. On line times - 8 am Tuesday for Saturday times. Finger on the mouse button at 8:00:00. I'm a single so always have some joining me and it's been a nice side effect to meet lots of folks I might not meet otherwise.
  9. Been giving this a lot of thought as well. About 2-3 years away so not idle thinking. Right now Raleigh/Durham area would be tops because grandmonster (and our daughter/son in law) live s nearby which is a must for my wife. Housing more reasonable if you get further south. Decent weather though days will be hot or cold at certain times of the year. Need a house with extra garage or basement (rare in that part of the world). My other money-pit is woodworking so need the extra space for my equipment. Pinehurst is an attractive area but my wife thinks too far from the monster. Moved from the Atlanta area a year ago for job reasons. Enjoyed where we were at but don't think I'd move back to retire. Can be a great area if you find the right spot.
  10. This Wednesday our league was called because of significant thunderstorms. Same as two weeks ago and rain ( but no lightning) last week. Weather here in Cincinnati area has been rain, rain, rain for much of the spring. Two weeks ago was even after three and in great shape after drive on four when it started lightning. All I could think was "NOT NOW!".
  11. Older daughter did undergrad at Virginia and Masters at Texas Tech (and still lives in Lubbock). She is VERY excited about tomorrow's game.
  12. Personal best was 11 in a row including all the back 9. I got done and said that it was fun. My buddy said it was fun to watch. Congrats on a great round.

  14. I had a few sets of junior clubs but my first full set were hand me downs from my dad. McGregor Tourney DX2 irons. Sometime in the mid-80's K had the heads restored but Dad wouldn't use them as they were too heavy for him by then. I reshafted them a few years back and will hit them from time to time. Still feel sweet when you get one flush. First driver was a Ram Fastback with aluminum shaft and laminated maple head. Still have it in the basement but won't hit it as I'm afraid that the shaft could be fragile. Nice conversation piece though. Putter was a Hogan Rail which I "liberated" from my brother several years ago and still practice with it. Lots of other bits/pieces as well.
  15. Normally I would only stand in front of or behind someone on the tee box (3 or 9 o'clock relative to their shot). However, some of the more (ahem) senior members of our group need some extra help with locating their drives. For these gents I'll often use the 4 or 5 o'clock position. That can be helpful especially if hitting toward the sun.
