  1. If they are going to allow viewer input they should reveal the source. Anonymous source is BS.
  2. I know, right? Imagine if they deducted 4 points for travelling in basketball or took 4 points away for iilegal procedure in football or took away goals for being offside in hockey crazy
  3. If you're not enjoying it, and it sure sounds like you're not, then drop it altogether for awhile. Find other hobbies you can enjoy in different ways. I've been playing myself since I was 24 and have stopped almost completely and started again a few times over the years. I went from a 100 round a year guy to just a handful of rounds with my buds and back up to 70-90 and back down again. There are plenty of other things to do out there that aren't golf related. You're young and healthy you'll find some fun elsewhere!!! Good Luck!!!
  4. Huh??? I missed that one. Someone standing on the green a few feet away could only be a caddie or player, no? If they saw it, why wasn't it addressed that day?
  5. Maybe, maybe not. The naked eye doesn't stop, zoom in, and replay something over and over again. I disagree that it was obvious to the naked eye, otherwise there would've been tons of people calling in during the telecast. I watched the interview with the ruling committee spokesman(name???) and he said they are still reviewing the timeline issue. He mentioned the possibility of closing out scoring at the end of each day as an option. Yep. It's now a judgement call. Probably loosened it up so that nobody has to drop a big penalty on a player for a small infraction. Think about it. If Tiger is playing at the ACME open, gets pissed and does something similar to what Lexi did. Do you think any rules official would want to whack him with a 4 shot penalty? Do you think ACME as the sponsor would like/want that? Do you think Tiger would schedule that tournament the following year?
  6. http://www.golfchannel.com/news/golf-central-blog/ra-usga-make-rules-announcement-tuesday/ quoted from the article; "Leaders from the USGA, R&A, PGA of America, PGA Tour, LPGA and European Tour met in a closed-door meeting at the Masters to discuss the incident and how to prevent future issues." They probably all just got together and said players should just follow the rules better...
  7. Actually, setting up open helps keep me from using the leading edge, which has always been a problem for me. The shaft position at address is straight up and down. The only reason I commented was because I've seen a number of lesser skilled chippers/pitchers struggle with the timing when playing the shot down the line. Cutting across the line, working the hosel away from the shot, takes the shank element out of it. Didn't mean to interrupt this instructional thread in any way though, so I'll zip it.
  8. I'm not sure what you were doing, but I know what happens when I have shanked(and chunked) the ball when trying to pitch or chip. If I get too square with my setup, then take the club back inside the line on my backswing, then directly down the line through the shot, my chance of flubbing, drubbing or shanking greatly increase. So I try to setup open (30*-45*) on all these shots, I take the club outside the line on the backswing, and then swing across the line through impact. I try keep clubface rotation minimal back and through the shot. Grip it as lightly as the lie will allow.
  9. Some golfers are fairly consistent, some are streaky. I once shot 70 with a handful of birdies an eagle etc., and the next day shot 83, on the same course with more or less the same conditions. Golf can be that way, you think you got it, but its got you....
  10. When shooting in the mid 70's from the whites gets too easy or boring....
  11. Game. If Tim Herron can win (4 times) it can't be a sport.
  12. I had a bit of a problem over the winter with the blade waffling a little. Not a problem I've really had to deal with in the past. What has worked for me is to get set and then just rock my shoulders. I'm not thinking about ether one going up or down, just maintaining my setup position and then rocking. Good luck!
  13. Sure. Some have choked too. I remember seeing a hall of famer whiff on a tap in putt once. But I'm sure the pressure and frustration of being in a major had nothing to do with it.
  14. My point exactly. No one knows what their ability to function is, even perform the simplest tasks, under that kind of pressure until you experience it.
  15. I tried this but since my living room or the practice green isn't nearly the same as an LPGA major, I found I was comparing apples to oranges....inconclusive. Now the movement is nearly an inch? Only a view from a straight on or straight down would clearly show just exactly how far it was. All the arrow lines drawn, and shadow theories are just that, theories.
  16. Playing in partners better ball tournaments I ; Opening hole, tough par 3, pin on back left shelf, I absolutely smoke an iron right over the top of the flag. It hits the down slope over the green and goes out of bounds. I comment how I've never hit a 5 iron that far, ever. My competitors comment on how the ball just shot off my club. It was a 4 iron (woops). Another time, season long team matches, 15th hole we're up 1. Couple days before playing the same hole, I have a really funky sidehill, downhill lie on what is a pretty flat fairway. We're walking along chatting away and I get to my ball scoop it over to demonstate to my partner how wacky this lie was. Thing is, we were playing the ball down, I was out of the hole. We ended up winning but boy did I feel stupid.
  17. Loads of talent and experience on that Leaderboard. I wouldn't be surprised if 4 or 5 players are in it right down to the last. Who knows? Maybe even a playoff. I'm not rooting for any player, just hope there's no runaway.
  18. No. Because I can't see what she gained by doing it. No. That's all that comes to mind. How? No idea. My only guess would be she is such a shaky putter, she somehow out of her routine/comfort zone and got rattled. I'll check out the video thread.
  19. I don't dispute the fact that she replaced her ball in a different spot than it was originally marked. Infraction. I just don't think she did it on purpose. To me, the definition of cheating is intentionally breaking a rule to gain advantage. So, in my mind, a cheater is worse than a rule breaker. I can't think of a least favorite player on any tour, though there are a few I like on the LPGA more than Lexi. I'll answer this way. If Lexi had; Crouched down and read the putt from directly behind... or moved the ball closer....or if there was an obvious spike mark or ball mark in her line.....or if there was a say a moving shadow around the ball....any of those things happen and then she moves it and I'd say I think she did it on purpose.
  20. Maybe. Although I would think a player or someone connected with the tournament would have notified officials much sooner, like well before the start of round 4 play. LPGA wasn't notified until Sunday afternoon so you'd think players are warming up or already on the course. Those connected are performing whatever tournament duties. The job of notifying the tour could've been delegated to some helper.....
  21. I'll post where I want to post and read what I want to read. If you are going to get so upset maybe you should stick to twitter.
  22. I'm referring to what you said about just picking it up and putting it right back down, without even looking at the hole. Blatant, as you said. You and other posters have made the same comment about how she just picks it up, barely picks it up, only picks it up to move in an inch offline on purpose etc., My point is this, the only reason she picked it up is to spin it so that the look of the ball is the same to her as it is on any other putt. That's why she stopped, didn't tap it in. It's a routine thing that some players stick to. I'm not saying she didn't replace it in the wrong spot. I disagree with whoever thinks she just picked it up to purposely move it ....or it blatantly cheat.
  23. She was looking at her ball, not the hole. She picked the ball up to spin it. Watch the video again.
  24. I don't recall ever having intentionally moved my ball an inch the side. I've never been called for an infraction. But then Joey Cheeto doesn't record my play either....
  25. Yes, again, she picks the ball up, twirls it slightly in her fingertips, and puts it back down. Some people, myself included, try to line the lettering of the ball up a certain way. I try to line the <NXT Tour> so that it is pointing directly where I want to hit my putt.
