  1. Not seeing your swing, it's difficult, but here's a simple quick fix to try. Tee the ball up further and play it more forward in your stance. Should promote you to swing up on the ball and get a higher launch.
  2. I want outrageous speed with a Callaway XR driver! Bill Hass -7 Jim Furek -6 Rory Mcllroy -8
  3. After looking at the news this morning and the way the world seems to heading, we all may be carrying in the future.
  4. Well seeing is believing and I'm believing what I'm seeing and wishing for seeing more..........
  5. Not the first time I've heard this offered, but to add to the possibility of it being true, explore this;----------He's worthless dead but if alive, could be a fountain of information
  6. Depends on 2 things. 1) of course the lie itself - could use anywhere from a 60 to a 7 - flop or runner and 2) pin location - how much green, over a bunker etc, etc. As the old saying goes, there's more than one way to skin a cat. All depends what your good at and your comfort zone.
  7. I think, operative word being think, that when you went to a flatter swing, this could have put your right elbow in relation to your body, in a better position (provided your right handed of course). Look at Sergio, he drops into a flat position on the downswing and Matt Kucher, who for a tall guy went to a flat swing and has done pretty good. Bottom line being, regardless of upright or flat, if the elbow is not in a close body position, then a lot of over the top problems can surface.
  8. Back in the day, there was a group of guys I used to play with that played a gotcha game. Rule of the game was, we could make all the noise we wanted to, but there was no touching the player hitting the ball. We all knew it was coming and it greatly helped our focus when hitting. What really screwed us up, was when the guys would get together and become silent. just the opposite of what we expected. Golfers can focus when a train goes by or something else that's a constant sound. It's when the silence is broken suddenly, that we have that reflex response and screw the shot up. That's what we've become trained for from when we started out playing. Could you imagine the tour allowing chatter before the player hits. Can you imagine folks yelling "Be the ball" or "Newnan" or breaking out in song "I'm all right". Could be fun though........
  9. Here's a suggestion, that may be helpful. Whatever your current lie is on your clubs now, look into a set of Ping blades (S57/58/59) that's one lie up or down from what your playing now. If you should like those particular irons, then when you add the inch extension, it should then be at the same lie as your current set. Could save your self a lot of money, unless you prefer to go with all new shafts and depending on what you buy, those shafts alone could cost you more than you realize. By the time you add both the clubs and re-shafting, you could probably have purchased a new set for almost the same price. Just a thought......
  10. Difficult call as to cheating or not, in general. Now there are some players that use slow play deliberately, to take playing partners / opponents off their game. Some call it gamesmanship and some will call it cheating. Unless a definitive rule, addressing this in put in play, all that can be done is put them on the clock (PGA tour and your local tournaments) and even at that, it's not enforced all that much. The one thing I can see, is the probability of some folks coming to blows, if a rule comes into effect, unless an outside party is a time keeper.
  11. Question: Looking at Pinehurst, when the open was held there. With their, as some call them, turtle back greens, would you categorize that as target golf?

    PBAC TOUR

To paraphrase Shakespeare......"To be(lieve) or not to be(lieve), that is the question" Whether it be nobler to have the renderings of the unknown as factual or shall we convince other's of the treachery that lies beneath the writers pen. Alas, poor lefty, we knew him not............. Or we go with Robert De Niro........"You talkin story!....you talkin story!..........Fagetabout it, ain't no stinkin story.....

    PBAC TOUR

In my finest 16th century dialog................"I fear good breather n, that a fearsome troll has rendered Camelot unsafe" Whatever shall be done to remove said villainous creature from our midst and render the subjects safe from yonder misgivings? Surely, among-st our fearless knights, one will step forward to save the kingdom and slay the transgressor.
  14. They remind me of Reid Lockhart blades. In my opinion, they are hoping the name alone, will entice those folks with levels of expendable income, to hit upon the "newest on the block". I also think it's very gimmicky (except the wedges) to have loft degrees instead of club numbers, although that's fairly easy to offset. Now I have to wonder, since the reference to Ping and how they started, if Hogan will follow in offering a full color code system for lies. As you can see by my avatar, the hogan blades I play are the 80-84 director model, which I consider the best Hogan ever made. I've played the Apex models and the cavity back models, that Hogan himself most likely would have trashed, from what was told about him and I still prefer the director blades.
  15. I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I draw the line when I see an AR15 in the guys bag, instead of a 3 wood!...

    PBAC TOUR

http://www.dmoz.org/Sports/Golf/Organizations/Mini-Tours/ Found this list of pro golf tours and sadly the PBAC is a no show. Doesn't mean it doesn't exist, but if it is, it's a very well kept secret. Now on to another subject, that's part of the equation. I don't mean to sound harsh or that someone is just pushing an unknown, but in all my years of golf (over 50 +) and on a PT playing schedule on a northeast mini tour, way back in the early 70's, I've never heard of a "pro golf scout". Again, doesn't mean there's not one, but this is a first, at least for me. I played with some really very good players back then, and granted, the tour money back then wasn't all that enticing. Most of the guys had decent day jobs and made their golf course money on hustling. In fact the mini tour circuit was fairly short and the payouts were this side of a joke. But it was a way to play with high caliber players and test your metal. If there was a scout back then, although the Old Lefty is well after my time (35 years), there very well may be scouts, but usually guys that can really play in today's arena, are known by folks that have money (local levels) and are attempting to step up to Q school or go overseas. Anyway, that's the story line from my perspective.
  17. The card (your score) if I'm understanding this right, must be taken into consideration. The yardages where set the same for everyone in the tournament (I assume), so the field played against the same score for par. Now for a local tournament, the tournament committee is or should be the ruling body and they set the course up for those involved. Now should that card be indexed into what your actual handicap is, for say a USGA event or any tournament that reflects a USGA guideline....? No it should not, but it should reflect your handicap for the next tournament, conducted by the same folks that put this one on.
  18. Personally, distance.....................I'm use to playing Star Trek Golf................go where no man has gone before..
  19. I'm sorry, but we know the facts, at least the basic facts. Did people riot, burn and loot? Yes!.. Did people violate the curfew and were arrested? Yes!.. Now was it right to be held in excess of 24 hours, without actually being charged? No! but we all know why it happened.....the city resources were taxed beyond their limits. No city, in reality, can prepare for such an event and even less, have in run like clockwork. This the actual construction of what transpired and you want to nit pic and speculate (without any real knowledge of the scope of what's going on) and then have the audacity to say It's BS and making stuff up and separate civil rights issues, that only are used to validate your position is bogus. The information is out there. The news reported the 200 business, last night on CBS I believe. The judicial system weighed in with no less than a Harvard Law Professor, stating that convictions would be difficult and there was a political motivated rush, in hopes of defusing the community. I offered what I consider insight into this, so lets dismiss the verbal jabs because you don't like what's been said. Doesn't make it any less true, just because you don't like it or happen to disagree.
  20. " Sadly, the bulk of those arrested were the, "I saw what was perhaps an injustice" and I want to lend my voice in outrage. They are in fact indirectly pawns, being used by the true trouble makers, who want nothing more than to take full advantage of a situation to loot and burn. Those folks don't live there, they come from outside the scope of those neighborhoods." Somebodies only argument is that I'm sprouting forth pure BS, "I made this up" because they feel it's fact and not opinion. Really!, that's the strength of the retort. Does it actually make any difference, when it doesn't take a degree from MIT to see, that's exactly what happened. I think the picture of the young woman being released into the arms of her husband says it all. Now for my factual basis or analysis, if that's a better adjective. Being involved in several of these riot situations, they all follow the same pattern. Those wanting to step out with good intentions up front and then you know who, lurking in the middle or on the sides or trailing, waiting for the opportune time to unleash mayhem. So in essence, yes it was a factual statement, so what, it's what happened and guess what, it's going to happen again. Where not finished with Baltimore, not by a long shot (just for the record and clear clarification - this is total opinion because it's the future), but what I referenced in an earlier post, that charging the cops was a politically motivated move, that's what the legal pun-dents are declaring and in addition, they offer that getting convictions may be difficult. No convictions = you decide what happens then..... As for the "civil rights" issue, well folks it's a two way street. Now you decide who has the rights. The business / home owner (over 200 hundred businesses were burned at last report) or the culprits who committed arson or those that indirectly aided them, by being there and causing confusion and offering (not purposely) hiding venues within the crowd. For those that don't know the law or think they know the law, law enforcement can curtail civil rights for the safety of the larger community. The mayor declared a curfew. Now just what do you think that entails. It's a temporary curtailment of civil rights for safety reasons. If you violate it, guess what, your going to be arrested, it's that simple. You can't let a mob mentality loose and have free rein, you'll lose everything and that mindset is very contagious and can spread like a wild fire. OK, I've sprouted forth my opinions and factual basis assessments of what was, what is and what could be. Take it for what it's worth and add another $3.00 and get a Starbucks latte.
  21. Now I forgot where I read this, it's been a few years, but it stipulated that during the course of a golf swing, every muscle in the body is working in some way. The way I feel after a round, I venture to say that's true. The older I get, the more body parts I didn't even know I had are hurt and sore. Although I always liked to walk the course, a medical condition now forces me to ride and even at that, walking from the cart to the ball and back again, or just helping to look for a ball on foot, after the round, I'm pretty much done for at least 2 days. Now prior to this condition, I was in fairly good shape for someone my age, but I'll tell you this........Getting old sucks, avoid it if you can. Now I'll offer this for those researchers, try just playing a 36 hole USGA qualifier, It will be an eye opener. It's the one big gripe I've always had with them. To me it was more of an endurance challenge, than an actually test of golfing skill. I've seen some really good players and myself included, back when I was younger and attempted such things, shoot a good / decent first round, have about a half hour to eat something and start the second 18. By the back 9, the tank is empty and the scores just inflate. To play at a high level in golf, just like any other athletic endeavor, physical conditioning is paramount. Kind of makes you wonder though, about those old time golfers from the 40's through the 80's, that didn't really put any priority on conditioning (Gary Player the exception).
  22. Ah, demo day. The multi colored banners and flags, the tray's of bright yellow range balls, the logo canopies of the name brands and the throng of golf fanatics, pacing up and down from manufacture to manufacture, with that deer in the headlights stare and listening for that elusive sound, of a driver hit pure and folks watching go "he got all of that one". But I digress, we're here to ask the question, what's too much to spend on the newest and greatest implements of turf warfare. Two of the guys I normally play with, both whipped out their check books and without hesitation, spent $1,275.00 on a brand new set of Hogan blades. Granted, both can easily afford it and I realize that it's an individuals choice, but in general, what's too much?............Just interested to see where the general population is coming from.
  23. On the first part of your response to apparently my post, you reference "pure BS you made this up. Have not a clue as to what your trying say. Second retort was "I'm making stuff up to fit my former cop narrative" Just what the heck am I making up? All I've offered, once again, this time in big letters, "PERSONAL OPINION" Now you say your cop friendly and have a friend that's a cop, but your rhetoric says differently in my opinion. . It looks as though you apparently have an agenda and no matter what I reference or state as opinion, your going to slice and dice to fit your viewpoints. Now here's again a personal observation, NOT FACT, but again observation, based upon your rhetoric. You sir are a guilty to proven innocent and everything that you do not agree with, is of course wrong and intentionally distorted to fit another's point of view. I've seen too many of your ilk and it's part and parcel of what went wrong with this country. I've offered my opinions on this subject and I'm finished with it and more importantly finished with you and your be-leagued retorts. There's an old saying, "never wrestle a pig in the mud, he likes it and all you'll get is dirty"..............
  24. OK, reading comprehension time. Apparently the term "indirectly" was overlooked. If you've never been in a riot situation, it's not all that hard to figure things out. Lots of good intention-ed people, voicing an opinion and marching peacefully. One or two of the less than desirable crew starts with a rock or bottle being thrown, mind you, under the umbrella of all those peaceful attendees and then it escalates and more of the less than undesirables fall in and there you go, a riot erupts and most of those that started it are way back of the good folks, until the herd starts to thin. By that time a lot of those good folks have been taken into custody, why, because they were running and yelling and yes, even some of them got caught up in the not following orders from the police or even went so far as to throw a canister back at the police or any number of things that people do when under emotional stress. Do they live there, most of them most likely don't. Do the looters live there, some of them most like do. Remember, even those that live in the area, most likely don't give a damn and probably are no strangers to law enforcement. I'm sure your not a jerk, but just where in any of my posts that I cried "these are facts"? I used the term IMO and if damage was done, which it was, it was done by people arrested one would think. As for civil rights being violated. If your in violation of a lawful order, that has public safety measured and you willfully disregard that order, the rights of those not involved with your demonstration (business owners, local home owners, taxpayers (destruction of city property) trump your individual civil rights, because you are breaking the law. We all saw Baltimore burning and I wonder what those people thought about the protesters civil rights. As for those being held for that extended time period, I agree with you that it was wrong, but face facts in this situation. The system was overwhelmed. It's an excuse of sorts but now that is a fact. Nothing we say here will make any difference to what transpired with this aspect. It is what it is and it's not pretty, but perhaps some of those that got caught up in it, will now have a better understanding of being in the wrong place at the wrong time and not be there again.
  25. IMO, this is not so much a rash reaction, but a political one. The lawyer for the Grey Family is connected to the Baltimore official pressing / presenting the charges. All six officers are being charged. Now here is a run down of those associated with the arrest. Two officers were bicycle patrol, only assisted in placing Grey into the van. Kind of difficult to assess if they actually did anything. The other officers were I assume from a patrol unit and again, don't know how much influence they had on the situation. The fifth office should have been in the van with the driver, because those arrested are actually in a caged / confined area and then there's the driver. Now this is where it gets really off the wall. The driver of the van, who apparently didn't have any hands on with Mr. Grey, is being indited on the highest charge(s) of any of the officers. Now, again IMO, this smacks of political slight of hand. Look at this hand, while the other hand does something different. As I said in my last post, it's going to get worse. When they finally get around to dealing with these allegations and findings that most likely will exonerate the police, especially the driver, Baltimore will explode and so will other cities. This country is sitting on a powder keg of immersible proportions and those out there that are looking for any excuse, will have a field day. If you want to know why a lot of major departments have procedure'd military hardware, it's because they have seen the self alienation of a portion of society and they are attempting to get to a level playing field. Look at the boarder patrol as an example. They are out maned and out gunned. The cities are rife with gangs, supplied by the cartels and smaller departments are also out maned and out gunned. Here's a small example. about a year ago, a female officer here was attempting to arrest a legal / illegal (?) never determined Mexican man on a traffic warrant. She was shot almost point blank by his 15 year old son, with an AR15. Luck would have it, he was a bad shot, but she was still hurt very badly. This is the mindset of the young generation. Perhaps it's from video games or watching the parents, movies from Hollywood or it's their friends, but regardless, that mindset is there and it comes out in the blink of an eye.
