I would say a couple of practice rounds with the range finder to dial the yardages, then a couple more to work out how much draw or fade the different face angles can give, so probably a month, but for me in Dublin this a great time to change as "real" golf doesn't start up again until March. That is why I am changing my AP1s with DG high launch shafts to AP2s with Rifle 5.0 this week. That said will play the "new"(secondhand) irons in the comp Sunday.

Tiger hits a tee shot and somebody shouts "get in the hoe"

45 degree PW, 50deg bent to 49, 52deg bent to 53 and 56deg bent to 57 that way I keep my 4 degree gaps. PW=125yard, 49=115, 53=105 and 57= 85 all with a swing a bit less than full. Since having the range finder laser I discovered the gaps in my wedge game hence this set up.

Andef, Can I ask what sort of swing speed you are as even with range ball 165 for a 4 iron seems a little short. I know you are expecting 185 from the right ball and weather its just that I would expect some one with a swing speed high enough to use stiff shafts in their irons to hit the 4 iron over 200 yards. Were you fitted for your irons? It's just that I am looking for a second hand set of 08 AP2s and have been looking for rifle 5.0 as I hit regular flex high launch dynamic golds in my AP1 irons and thought regular flex would be needed for my replacements?

Have a look at bagsgolf.com I played with them when i lived in boston a few years back. They have a RI League and think they do a florida trip in December if you are looking for some competitive golf over the winter.

Yes tried a 909d2 that had been traded in at my club and liked it but knew the shaft was incorrect for me (voodo regular) so I went and got fitted and as I was struggling with launch angle I was fitted for a 909 D comp and still get some lowish launch angles out of it but I also get some perfect ones. I make a lot of fairways with it and it is very forgiving. Funny thing is I never see anyone else using one?

Hi, Has anyone out there got the new AP2 irons yet? I have the original AP1's and would like to change to AP2's over the winter just wondering has anyone changed from old AP2 to new AP2 and can you tell the difference?

I have recently been a member of a short par 68 course with only one par five and that was too long for me to reach in 2, but I have just moved to Dublin and have joined Druids Heath so now have 3 more chances of eagle per round. The 1 eagle I do have is from holing a wedge on a par 4. The ball hit about 3/4 up the flag and shot straight down and in!

Well, I bought the 3 wood and driver new, every thing else was from ebay, but the advantage of spending a bit with a small store is they tend to give discount when I return. 10% off most things I buy there now.

Good ball for the rain?
stebed replied to wolverine_man's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I always make sure I play a new ball in these conditions as they seem to repell mud etc better. I tend to play Pro V1x in the winter for a little more distance and if the greens are wet and receiving balls well and allowing lots of spin I find the 1x spins a little less and there is less chance of spinning of the front. -
Loft of hybrid?? Help me choose!
stebed replied to verse214's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
What loft is the 5 wood? I carried a 19* rescue and a 19* 5 wood for a while and there was a good 10-15 yards between them due to shaft length, then replaced the rescue with a 909h 19* and that was much stronger than the old one so I could play it from 190-230 so dropped the 5 wood. -
I recently changed to a new Scotty Cameron Square Back 1 from a Taylor Made Spyder. So you can imagine it looked very different at address. I spent about 8 hours over 2 weeks putting in the house with it and last week won my club champoinships (doubles) and our opponents said my putter won us the match. So in my opinion yes putting at home is great for grooving your stroke, working on ball position and stance.

I think everyone is missing the point here. You cannot just go and buy a shaft and think it will solve you driving worries. The V2 you used that was your friends was that a Burner head? The problem you are going to encounter with reshafting your Burner is that not many club fitters will still have that head in their fitting cart so having screw in shafts for you to try might be difficult. My advice would be go get fitted for a new driver and shaft. I was recently fitted for a 909F2 with a Dianama shaft, and then later a 909h with a Dianama shaft so when it came time to replace my driver I thought a 909D2 with Diamana would be the only option but I couldn't hit it, ended up with a Dcomp with a Matrix shaft. Go get on a launch monitor and get professionaly fitted else you will never know what shaft really suits you.

I have played a ton of singles and Doubles matchplay last two season and have just won the club championship doubles last Sunday. It does help if you are familiar with your opponents game but not crucial. I dont get too hung up on score, just making less shots than them and don't concede a hole too early. I had one last year where I went OB off the tee and my opponent was about 300 down the middle. I played 3 off the tee and a rescue to about 60yards short of the green, he then put 2 in the green side pond I won the hole and went onto win the match, and that was from being 3 down after 3! Play your own game really is best advice. If your opponent is longer than you from the tee don't try and keep up, it just means you are first to hit into the green and the pressure is back on him.

Well 2 shots really. 1.Playing Druids Heath (Ireland) for the first time as I am about to join. Drove down the first (420 yard par 4) slighty into wind and had 190 left to a slightly elevated green pin on the far left side protected by a bunker front left. I had to hit a prefect drawing 5 iron and I did! 2.Later in the round on the 16 found the fairway bunker off the tee which left me 260 to the pin (448 par 4 ) Down hill wind helping I put my rescue club to about 15 feet for a 2 putt par.

Well, I am in the process of finding a new club. I am moving to Dublin from the UK and had been told to go try the above club. Well played it today, played from the white tees which measure 6629 yards par 71. The course I am leaving is a tight parkland par 68, 5554 yards long. I play off 11 and average 270 ish of the tee (measured with laser) So I new this course would be a challenge with over 1000 yards extra to play. I played some great approach shots from between 190 and 230, even a down wind rescue 260 pin high and made par. I shot 89 which was 18 over which for playing the course blind and not really getting the speed of the greens until the back nine I was quite pleased with. So my question is 1000 yards extra is like the equivalent of 2 par 4s, 8 shots, so does that make my score more like 81 for the length of course i am used to playing?:)

I go out on the course with my 2 year old. He is in his buggy with covers on to avoid stray balls, but that said i choose quite times to take him. He will stay quite for about 8 holes normally. He also goes to the range with me and has even sat in on a driver fitting with me at Titleist.

Playing in a doubles quarter final recently my playing partner was teeing off on a par 4. He hit the ball out off the heel it hit the ladies red tee marker then hit the fence and the ball bounced back in about 40 yards in front of the tee area. He then hit a rescue to about 100 yards short of the green, wedge to about 3 feet and sunk the putt for par and to win the hole! The ball had a green mark on one side from the fence and a red mark on the other side from the tee marker. We went onto win the comp.

I was playing 2 weeks ago and we were on our 15th a par 3 that was playing 254 into the wind. My playing partner hit driver about 10 yard too long and about 10yards right. The ball hit a guy walking to the next tee right between the shoulder blades on the spine and knocked him out cold. I am pretty sure he wouldn't be to healthy if it had hit his head. My paying partner continued his round, even chipping on and paring the par 3, and he won the comp! We all called fore and the guy that was floored was fine after a visit to hospital.

Personnaly the rough at my club isn't too deep so would go with a 5i as the course is pretty dry and the ball will run up onto the green, but best advice for a 25 hcpwould be 8i then pitch onto the green and maybe 1 putt for par or walk away with a boogie.

He probably didn't pay for them. To me this looks like it belongs to a tour pro who gets everything free. I recently saw a TV interview with Darren Clarke and they went into his garage to talk cars and he had 3 floor to ceiling racks full of clubs. There must of been 300 various woods and drivers and about 100 sets of irons. There was also a rack with about 30 pairs of shoes!

Took the 3 wood out of the bag, only 1 head covered club left
stebed replied to shades9323's topic in Golf Talk
what 3 woods have you tried? I had a burner that I never caught on the course. Went and got fitted for a 909 F2 and it in use every round. Shaft in your 3 wood should be at least 20 grams heavier than your driver. Go get fitted! -
the course looks nice, I play at Marple.

I am looking at replacing my current driver with a new Titleist. I have been looking at loads of stuff on line and have found one fitting works pro saying the D comp really suits players with ball speeds around 140mph. I have found a calculation that says swing speed x 1.5 is a good estimate of ball speed and I fit into that range with a swing speed of about 95 mph. I don't hit my current driver very high and wondered if the dcomp will help with his as it is branded as high launch. I know I will end up getting fitted but would like to hear from any d comp users out there.
