Excellent strategy. Thank you for sharing. I've struggled also with a consistent driver. But your idea of mapping the course for club strategy and staying out of trouble is something I've always wondered about. This winter I'm going to take a serious look at my league course and start a strategy book on playing holes. Thanks for sharing.

For those of you that have broke 80, how did you gain the consistency required to do it? I've been struggling with being consistent. I was in the 80's regularly and was really trying close to breaking 80 when my game fell apart and now I'm struggling to break 90. My drive was the first thing to go, followed by distance on my approach shot. My flop shot has been killing my while the pitch and run works to my favor. But I need to be able to course correct when things go south and create a consistent swing. Thoughts?

Does anyone know when Game Golf will be available on android watches like the Samsung Classic S2?

What program/website do you use for gameplanning a course? I'm trying to find one where I know all the distances to the hazards so I can walk up and know what club I should hit.

What is the best smart watch for golf? What about golf and other activities. It'd be nice if it worked with Game Golf, but I'm finding it easier to just tag and download at home, even though I have the Live version.

I recently played my best two rounds of the year, with a chance for par or birdie on most holes only to follow it up with a round where I couldn't find a fairway. The challenge being this 9 holes, 19 - 27 of Hawk Hollow , is almost surrounded by water. I was also playing against a group that I thought we could beat in our league. Pressure and Nerves coupled with 3 missed tee shots made for a bad round. How do other TST members deal with a bad round like this?

Unfortunately, I usually get the shanks after I've played some really good golf. I think psychologically I feel great and tend to exaggerate my motions. As a result, I roll forward on my toes and separate my hips from my arms in my downswing causing the toe roll. When it happened this spring, I went to a local pro here in Michigan, Bill Mory, and he had me break down the back swing and follow through doing baby steps. First knee cap to knee cap. Then 3 quarter to 3 quarter. But what really worked was when he had me adjust where the sound of the swing peaks. Instead of it peaking after it hit the ball, it swooshed 1/3 of the way down and peaked at the ball. It added distance, connected my arms to my body again, and changed my focus from my hips to my swing. A little bit no in line with my Swing Machine golf, but got me on track. Okay, so I just played a round. My phone died half way through. I continued to tag the round as I'm using the LIVE version. But I can't find it. Any suggestions?

I've played a few rounds with my LIVE version of the unit. It really isn't a bother. Sometimes I forget to tag it and tag immediately, and change the locaiton on the app right away, or after the round. It works through my shirt too. Having said that, the stats you get are great! They show you exactly where you need to practice to make your rounds more efficient. My biggest questions is can I find a smartwatch that works with the app? I use my phone for distances and would love to be able to just look at a watch to see the yardage. Plus it might not drain my phone's batter. Thoughts?

Does the Gamegolf program work on all smart watches? Or are the specific watches that work best? I went from tags, which cause my phone to die quickly. To the app, which was a PIA. To the LIVE unit which I bought on Ebay for $140. I LOVE IT! But I still open my phone for the distances. If I could find a watch that worked well I'd be sold. Thoughts? FYI - I shot 3 rounds of 44 yesterday. Should I buy a lottery ticket?

An update. I received the G30, had it cut down to 44.75" and played with it yesterday at my golf league after testing it at the driving range twice over the weekend. The stats are in the Game Gold that after one round I hit the fairway more, but lost a little distance. I mark the distance loss as not being familiar with the club yet. When I become more familiar, I'll be willing to test it out more. But I'm happy with it so far. The sound alone is cool compared to my R11.

Thought I'd report back on the first night, last Monday. I played with a couple guys with lower handicaps. One's a golf coach at a local high school. Too cool. I actually played better than I usually do when playing with family or friends. I found myself concentrating more and more methodical. The strategy section in lowest score wins kept me from taking any penalty strokes. I don't think that's ever happened. My partner is an old league veteran (plays 3 leagues a week) who is also new to this league. He shot badly, but we had fun anyway. I think that's key. On a side note, game golf tabs functioning was sporadic at best. My playing partners were tolerant, but if I'm going to collect data, I need a tag unit. I returned the tags and will order the classic or live. I'm thinking classic. Thoughts? Should I post in another thread? Or maybe it's been answered.

I've been using Paul Wilson's chipping technique pretty effectively. Paul Wilson's chipping it dies work better in slow greens, but is easily adjusted on faster greens. But I have so few rounds on game golf that my averages haven't settled. Is there a way to adjust this now besides playing more rounds?

I ended up picking up the G30 SF Tec on eBay. I'll need to have the shaft cut down, but am looking forward to hitting it. After looking at both at Dick's, the G30 higher cog was closer to what I'm paying with now in my r7. Might be why I kept saying the G series at the fitting. Wish me luck. I'll post how it turns out.

My phone goes black or opens the Google Search function, or I have to unlock my phone and open the running Game Golf App to tag my club. It's driving me a little crazy and I"m about to buy the belt unit. Has anyone got the app to work? Let me know if I should post in a different forum. I do have another question, how does one account for pitch and runs with the 8 iron that only goes 5 yards versus your regular distance? Is there a better way to show these shots? Also, do I need to set my phone to always on in order to avoid it locking? Thanks in advance.

I review my stats before going to the range. My short game always seems to be where I have the most strokes lost to my handicap. The shaft was the alta 55 standard ping shaft. Most of the G30s on ebay have the TFC 419 standard shaft. I'm not entirely sure how different they are, but the PING site says the 419 has the same specs.

Yesterday I went to Miles of Golf in Ypsilanti for a driver fitting. My first fitting experience. I told the fitter, Adam that I wanted to have my current driver (R11) fitted because if bought it used years ago and thought the shaft was too long. Turns out I was right. He fitted me for 44.75" shaft. He also had me hitting a new a Ping G driver further than my current driver by about 30 yards further (215/185). He fit me for the sf Tec regular flex to cure my over the top slice. My question for the wise users of tst is could I get away with buying the G30 used on eBay with the same specs of sf Tec, regular shaft and have it cut down? I'm a frugal soul and spending $400 on a driver is a lot for a guy that tries to find a happy medium between function and value. Or maybe I should just fix my swing and keep my current driver the R11. I've already adjusted the angle to 10°, like the ping was set at. The weights were adjust set for a slicer. Thoughts?

I pulled the trigger on Game Golf Tags using my android phone. At first I hated it because for some reason when I tagged the club to my phone, it woudn't vibrate. I ended up playing the entire round inputting the clubs every time. Missed a couple times, had to adjust. Afterward I was on the fence about the whole thing because it was such a pain. I though, is it my phone? Do my tags not work? After looking over my round and reviewing the data, I LOVE IT. It showed me exactly where I added WAY too many strokes to my round. Surprisingly, it was my short game and putting. Mainly the short game, which makes sense because I spend so much time on the on approach shots and driving that I've sort of neglected the short game. So I got on the support site and determined that i wasn't tagging my phone right. I didn't put the end of the tag/club flat against where that reader unit is under the camara. I think I even put the phone facing the wrong way in my pocket. I just tried it and it read the tag when applying to the right spot on the phone. Now I need to go do a practice round without a full foursome so I can play with it.

Thanks. I must admit that I'm looking forward to playing the same course and getting some stats on it and seeing if I can improve my game looking at these. I used the game golf program for the first time yesterday and hated it while using it. Then I went back and looked at the stats and it opened my eyes. It showed that I need to work on my short game and putting. Makes sense. I spend so much time on approach shot and driver that I take short game as a given. I can only imagine after a whole season how this is going to help me work through my weaknesses. Then again, while I like the stats and competitiveness, I am more of a social golfer than anything. I just joined my first league. At 42 you think it would've happened sooner, since I've been playing since I was 7, but.... Anything i should be aware of?... or know? I also just got my game golf tags and am hoping to track my progress/stats so that by the end of season I should have a good plan for the course. My league plays Hawk Hollow and Eagle Eye here in Michigan. Our scramble at the end of the season is at Woodside. Any tips such as course strategy, mapping, etc. are welcome.

I just ordered my Game Golf Tabs. They should arrive today. I can't wait to get em going.

This has got to be the place to ask - What everyone's favorite apps? Right now my favorites are V1 for swing analysis and Skydroid for GPS. I'm on the Android system. I'd like to find a stats app giving me similar info as the Strokes Gained stuff. I've contemplated GolfShot and would welcome comments from users. Am interested in the Lowest Score Wins app, but can't seem to find it. Might just go with the Game Golf program but the Federal Return just cramped my golf funds. Thoughts?
