I played in a couple of scrambles last year for a grand total of $150. Busy life sucks.

I've played for over 30 years, and never heard of such a rule. The "pro" was obviously a real jerk. He should have handled the situation a lot better. I can understand the rule to keep other people from charging for lessons there. But for friends to not be able to help each other, that is rediculous.

My club head speed with driver is 110-115. And oddly enough, I use a regular shaft.

That reminds me of a day I had caddying at Valhalla years ago. My player hit his tee shot down by the creek on the right on 16. The ball was right against a tree root. He asked for a club, and I suggested he just take a drop. Too much can go wrong. He over-ruled....and it all went wrong! The ball hit the root and hit the guy right between the eyes! Broke his sunglasses in half and left a nice cut on his forehead! He took a drop from there, and I could tell he also was feeling some pain in his wrist. Listen to your caddies!

Yep, I made that mistake once. I pulled a muscle right between the shoulder blades. Also pulled a muscle when I had the brilliant idea of borrowing a friends left-handed driver for about a dozen balls. I hit it better than I thought, but paid for it for the next week.

If it will give you more confidence, it may be worth it. But I really think $200 for a putter is just showing off to your buddies.

Exactly. I love my 25 year old Powerbilt irons and my Walter Hagen driver. Nike is laughable, though.

Of course it's OK, you are outside. If anyone has a problem with that, they can go lock themselves in their house, and leave normal people to enjoy the world.

Hell no!! I wouldn't pay $200 for any club, much less a piece of a club. If I had lots of money to blow, I would put that money towards a few lessons. They would always be worth more.

I'm guessing that it is illegal, but honestly, why would it matter? If you are not a scratch player in tournaments, you should not worry about it. Have fun.

Wow, this original post really pissed me off. I can't stand being hit into. Someone could really get hurt. The second ball would have been kicked into the woods or water, within plain sight of the jerk that hit it. There is no excuse for repeatedly hitting into someone, and no excuse for the comment you got from the idiot working the pro shop. I used to have a friend that would treat me and another to play at his home course. It is a very nice course, and he would pay our fees, but the guy would always hit into people, and I couldn't stand it. Finally I just had to stop going.
