Cleaning all white grips...
enis750 replied to toddmlazarchick's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
dont listen to anyone above the 100% honest to god secret to clean those grips is..... BRAKE CLEANER yep any old brake cleaner spray it on liberally, wipe down with a lint free papertowel or rag (like blue shop towels) and done no residue, doesnt damage the grip, comes 100 clean and no smell - they come to new and are as sticky as day 1 these r the best kept secret for grips ever made - IMO there is nothing better -

My 59 Belts Review Well fellow Sandtrappers! Well I have just received my first custom belt…..to be honest I wasn’t much of a fashion dude and never dreamed of owning a custom belt…..EVER ! hahaha! But at a lower index (2.9), this has me playing more tournaments, which in turn has me dressing a lot better on the course than I used to. But when I first saw these belts, I had to have one. I was scrolling through the website and on the home page they had my belt – WITH MY INITIALS ALREADY ON IT!!! It was like Trevor and the boys were calling my name! I did some reading on the site to see what the company was all about and found that they actually sponsor some big names, on all types of tours (professional and amateur). The site can be found HERE On to my review…. A little bit about the company first: (direct from the site) 59 was founded in 2006 with a single goal in mind. To create the highest quality belt and buckle combination in golf, designed specifically to withstand the rigors of daily tournament play. To accomplish this, we built a buckle that is nearly indestructible with guaranteed parts. Then we paired the buckle with a belt that is very comfortable yet extremely long lasting. Finally we put them together in a way that is clean, classy and unique to 59. 59 buckles are made entirely in the U.S.A. We machine-mill each buckle one at a time from solid stainless steel or aluminum stock, then assemble and finish them by hand. To 59, any player who completely invests themselves to the game deserve nothing less than a product that exceeds expectation in both quality and styling. The Buckle: The quality of (not only the buckle), but the strap is outstanding. Mine is the Players Series Personal Initials Custom. A quote from the site on the materials used on the buckle -> ”Each 59 Player buckle is machine-milled from solid aluminum in a rugged yet stylish black powder coat finish. We have been able to pass along savings to you by drastically reducing the time and cost to produce these great looking designs. We did this by changing metals from 303 stainless to aluminum (a much softer and quicker material to mill) and by powder coating rather than hand polishing the buckles. The 59 Player retains the unique style and craftsmanship you’ve come to expect from 59 . And, like all of our buckles, each 59 Player buckle is individually milled and assembled by hand in the USA.” Truthfully, I thought the buckle would show up and be this large, kinda gaudy thing (which I was ok with), but it’s not. It measures 2 x 3” and is very tasteful in size. It is also very light (65gms to be exact), much lighter than my J.Lindeberg belt I was wearing previous. The attention to detail in the background of the initials is wicked. The black powder coating stands out nicely from the stainless background and looks like it will stand the test of time. The buckles are fully interchangeable as well, so you can swap it out from strap to strap for a different look. The buckle also has a different way of attaching to the strap. There is a wire spring clip that you release from 2 posts. Press it in, take it out, place the belt on the posts and replace the wire spring. Really…very easy and secures the belt to the strap with ease. The Strap: The strap is made if 100% quality full grain leather and is SUPER soft. I have other leather belts as well, and they are much harder. There are 21….yes 21 different colors available, everything under the sun from white, pink, neon green, to lizard and ostrich patterns. You want options, they are there! The straps start at $40, but can be as pricey as $159, so depending on your budget or style, there is something to fit everyone. On each strap there is a “59” logo branded into the right side of the belt and paint filled silver-very classy look! The belt is 1.5” wide and 1/16” of an inch thick. This will accommodate almost all belt loop sizes IMO. They have a unique way of measuring the belt for size, rather than the standard “I wear a 34 pant” way of sizing things. Below are the instructions on how to measure your “size”: “59” belts fit differently than any other belts on the market as the belt begins and ends under the buckle with no extra material hanging out the other side of the buckle. This provides a very clean and sharp look that is unique to our style. For a perfect fit, the belt should virtually meet itself under the buckle. Therefore we ask for a tape measure to be run through the loops of the owner’s pants or shorts as if the tape were a belt (with pants on). Simply provide the measurement where the tape meets itself through the loops of your pants. ” When I measured mine, I was a 38 ¼” without snugging it up (I wear a 34 pant as well). Trev said to go with a 38” and it would fit proper…..it does. Use a soft tape if you can, or a piece of string to do the measurement and then measure the string. Don’t try to use an actual hard measuring tape and put it through the loops!! Hahaha! Also, measure it with the pants or shorts you would wear it with, to ensure a proper fit. For me, my Nike Dri-Fit pants fit different than my Quicksilver shorts do, so I wanted a size that would fit best in both. The Order: I sent an email through the site with some questions regarding availability and how to start an order. Trevor Derrheim (who by the way is the Founder/Owner) emailed me himself. He also returned my email within hours. Not sure if this is the norm, but every response I got from him, was easily as quick or quicker. Hands down best customer service I have ever received. A simple paypal payment was sent and literally in 2.5 weeks it was on my desk. This is a good turnaround time for a custom belt to be made and shipped via USPS to me in Canada. Trevor is offering a discount to wrx’ers right now, just contact him through his website for more details. Final Thoughts: I did some reading on this site to see what others have had to say about this product. There wasn’t a ton of info, but it seems the general comments were positive. Personally, this is one of the best items I have purchased from a golf company…for the following reasons: Quality construction Great customer service VERY affordable price Really….this is what matters most. Now I have to mention the logo itself. Yes….it kinda looks like a 69, but ….. here is the answer addressing that question-> Trev says “ It's a 5!! Here's a test.. Draw a 6 to see it begins at the top and runs continuously until it loops counter-clockwise towards the stem. A 5 though stops mid-way down the stem and then loops clockwise. That makes it a 5 in our books! IMO it’s a great logo and it works. 59 Belts are affiliated with some of our friends here as well, like: Slighter Golf, Scratch Golf, Beyond the Links, Miura and most importantly the AJGA. As well they have a HUGE following on tour, with names like Jason Gore, Jamie Lovemark, Stuart Appleby, Ricky Barnes, Paula Creamer, Suzanne Petterson, Yani Tseng, and of course my Canadian homeboy Mike Weir. Overall – GREAT belt, great company and you won’t be disappointed. Do yourself a favor and check out the website HERE and get yourself a 59 belt. He is also working on getting set up here as a site sponsor, so he will be available for questions/PM’s etc.. **Just for the record..no I am not affiliated in any way to 59 belts, nor am I sponsored. And yes, I paid for my belt too, it was not given to me. I just wanted to share my experience about a great product and company. But hey….i’ll take any type of endorsement they want to give me!!! Hahaha! Here a few more pics of some examples for you:

making your own combo sets - what's the downside
enis750 replied to ronbo25's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
as mentioned above, check the loft, lie angles of each set you are combo'ing (keep them close or have them adjusted slightly) for me they have to blend seamlessly i dont want my 7i to look a lot different than my 8i does etcc. my current combo set was custom ordered and the lofts and lies were bent accordingly they flow perfectly from 4i to LW -
Why aren't center shafted putters more popular ?
enis750 replied to inthehole's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
a center shafted, face balanced putter fit a stroke that is typically a SBST (straight back straight through) not sure what the ratio of guys who put this way, compared to an arc stroke but the "anser" style blade has been around a long time and lots of guys find this style more appealing the mallet or #9 styles offer a little more forgiveness as well -
yes and no i guess yesterday i played a round on an indoor simualtor, and i was averaging 295 carry (lon gest was 322 w roll) from the tee and some swing speeds as high as 119mph now this isnt at a place that sells clubs, but still....now way i was carrying those numbers, so take it w a grain of salt i guess but, have you thought of this?? just because a driver says it has 7.5º of loft, doesnt mean that is its effective (or actual) loft a driver that is slight open, will actually DECREASE the loft and vise versa for a driver that is set slightly close so maybe the 9.5 you had, was closed slightly, increasing the loft and causing excess spin and launch angles? and maybe your traditional 7.5º head, is less or more loft than you think??? its tough to control the loft on retial clubs they TRY to keep them within 1º either way but its tough there was a thread on golfwrx that was showing the new R11 tour heads some heads were stamped with 10.5º and actual loft was 11.1 or even 12º !!!! thats a big difference for a tour head yes this can be changed with the new adjustable hosels, but still, thats a big variance

most guys will have a pretty flat putter some have a slight toe up and it may be a preference generally speaking tho, you want it fairly flat to the ground, cause yes too much tow up will result in a miss left

Losing distance with new irons???
enis750 replied to kpaulhus's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
cold weather will affect the distances for sure but so will playing iron shafts that are too stiff you might get more control out of them , but you will lack distance if you cant bend em i probably SHOULD be playing an X100 in my irons, but i stick w DGS300's i have my SS up to an average of 109 now, up from 102 or so (w the abaility to amp it up over 112 at times, but on 16 im probably around the 108 or so) this has resulted in a stiffer driver and 3w, but i kept the iron shafts the same w just Stiff an X100 soft stpped once would be a nice inbetween flex, but maybe still too stiff for you whats ur SS and swing type ??( smooth, quick tempo etc??) the weight of the X100 is 124gms and the S300 is 127, so if your gaming steel, they weigh about the same you may just need to get used to hitting steel over graphite tho too, thats a big difference in weight for sure -
don't ever let anyone tell you to NOT buy new clubs...... EVER!!!!! ;) heheheh~! but seriously if you have the cash and are itchnig to get them, just do it (carefull tho it becomes a strange addiction...trust me, ive taken out my sig b/c of it!) only suggestion i have, it get fit for a proper shaft, as this will make or break how you hit them it might be a great head for you, but the shaft blows for your swing have fun with your new gear! ;)

(i dont know how to embed vids anymore......, sorry for the link) Here is some of my latest work Still a work in progress obviously, but I think it’s coming….starting to feel natural now These swings are not at full speed and with a wedge I am hoping once I feel it more natural, that when I hit balls at 90%, it will be easy to replicate Lots of work in slow mo and in front of a mirror in the ol basement The vid shows both DTL and front view (didn’t know how to separate them in media player sorry) Some things I have been working on: -keeping the hips quiet and not swaying -keeping my chest “over the ball” and creating a better shoulder turn -keeping my backswing more on plane, as I was very flat before, almost swinging around my body creating a bad miss left -trying to keep more weight distributed on the front foot at the top of my backswing -hip slide (as Erik calls it) on the downswing -more neutral grip (I was very strong before) I think I still need to create more lag and hit down on the ball more, but its slowly coming I have been studying Sean Ohairs swing and working with an instructor once a month for the past 5 months or so I have been watching some SnT vids, trying to incorporate as much as I can pick up I don’t want to call it a SnT swing, because I really don’t know much about it….. Im tired of hitting off of mats too, need some turf already Thoughts??????

@ Iacas: thanks for the response. I re-read my post and was hoping you didnt take it the wrong way......and u didn't. Wasnt trying to attack the SnT in any way at all. As you mentioned a lot of what Sean teaches has SnT in it (from what i have read anyways-again i know zero about SnT or even the golf swing for that matter). I think for someone who knows so much about the science behind golf, i could see how this DVD wouldnt appreal to you. But it did for me, becasue as stupid as this may sound....i prefer to not know every single thing about the swing. Mechanics boggle me and the reason i liked this DVD is becasue he explains things how i asked my instructor to explain them to me. I didnt want to know all the terminology, different places or positions in the swing or any of that jazz. Just tell me how to practice, drills to practice, a coles version of why were fixing that and let's move on. I use sort of the same approach when i explain/sell Mortgages to my clients, as i find that they understand it easier this way. Im guessing if that i was to explain different types of Mortgages to you, you would be that guy that takes 45 mins. to break it all down. Not because you arent smart, but because you are and wouldnt have it any other way!! hahahha!!!! anyways....back on topic. So far i like the responses, they have been clean and everyone has a good point to make.

ordered the DVD 2 days ago and its here already - bonus watched it this am as well - thought it was great very easy to understand lots of sweet drills to practice the length was perfect, not too long, not too short loved the player interviews at the end seems to be a lot of haters in here....... i think Sean explains things in a manner that is easy to understand and doesnt fill your head with crap you dont need to know (or understand) but i guess i learn different than most?? i found that a lot of what he is teaching, is being taught to me by my instructor which i actually found to be re-assuring seems to be that if your not "pro stack and tilt" direct from the horses mouth, that its not good enough (but im not going to go there as i know zero about the SnT) as Sean mentions, he might not teach what is always right, but he has a good understanding of what's wrong I mean if the #1 player in the world (IMO, not that big whiner Lee Westwood) has hired him, how bad can he be maybe he should have hired Mike & Andy............ as well, Hunter and Sean have pretty decent winning records as well - 3 PGA wins each isnt too shabby anyways, im sure this will be torn apart...flame away all PS - yes my comments were added to your review Erik

keeping the wedges...not sure how to close this thread tho....... hmmm......
