1st- I was kinda just curious 2nd- I like the look of stepped shafts and a majority of putter shafts are smooth. 3rd- my ocd is instigating a project if I can figure it out flex wise. And no I did not know that. Can you explain why? Is for speed of greens? Do guys swap shafts depending on speed of greens or just have a new one built? You learn something new everyday. 😂😂

Fair enough. Thanks for the input.
-
More versatile? Or just interacts with the turf better? So for someone hitting true blades would there be much difference? Other than sole grind.
-
Dang that’s a weak loft for a 9. 😮
-
What flex would a putter shaft be comparable to? R, S, X? Just curious. Every time I look this up I can never find the answer.
-
So what do you think the purpose is of the wedge manufacturers offering the pitching wedge lofts? Again just wondering not questioning your replies. Thanks
-
Do you think a “wedge” specific 46* spins more than a PW that comes in your set? And by wedge specific I’m referring to Cleveland wedges, vokey, Callaway Mack daddy, etc thanks guys just wondering.

I second that. No parent and child should be in that situation. Awesome to hear that this frustrating game brought you guys back together. 👍

I voted long iron but it’s a tough call between the long iron and fairway metal. In my opinion two of the hardest clubs to strike well.

I have no problem at all with people playing through, I stated way before that I am in no hurry when I’m playing with my friends. But what drives me nuts is to have a single or twosome breathing down my groups neck pressuring us to offer the play through and then gee look at that, now we are waiting on them. Not saying this happens every time but when it does pisses me off.

Maybe it will some day be played at a kiosk and you can just sit in a chair and not hang out with buddies talk shit and have a beer. Kinda seems where this world is heading everywhere else.

I think the more a person(new player/ young buck) plays they will realize it’s not go time on every hole. Everyone is impressed by distance but until THEY realize that score matters it will be long days in the rough and trees. 4 of the 18 holes “require” driver and another 3 are questionable at my course where most people will use driver on 14 of the hikes 😮 I’m sure most of us have a number that we like to hit from, mine is 100-110 yds, that’s what dictates my tee off club.

Are you a Better Golfer than a Year Ago?
CaseyD replied to iacas's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I voted almost the same for better this year. However, even though my scores don't show it I feel like I've tackled some pretty technical things that will pay off in the near future. Just quick examples, grip, divot depth and swing path. Still feels very uncomfortable but the results don't lie. My ball flight is much straighter actually dealing with more heavy draw/ hook issues and that isn't my norm so I know I'm on the right path. Divots are so much shallower and smaller its crazy, I'm sure the golf course appreciates this. 😁 And as for this time next year I'm confident I will finally break into the 70s -
When I hit the range I have three different “sections”. I’ll warm up with a 56/50* with a good 20 or so of the worst balls. Still trying to hit good shots but I realize at that time I’m still tight and loosening up. Then I switch to what I’m really there to work on. Like yesterday. I’m really trying to shallow out my swing. I’m a digger by way of years of bad habits and just getting by out on the course. Right now I’m really trying to get good at golf. So shallowing my swing out, direction of divot in relation to where my ball is flying things like that. Then I have my “live” section. I’ll set aside nine holes. I’ll place nine groups of balls. There might be 1 ball in group(par 3) then 2 balls(par 4) and 3 balls(par 5). Mix the groups up like a nine would be. I hit the shots as if I’m playing. So for a par 5 set I’ll hit driver, then a mid to long iron, then a wedge. If any one of those shots don’t come out like I planned then I grab an extra ball and chose the club that I feel like I’d have to hit after the bad shot. Its been working out pretty well. Trying to take what I’m working on that day and use it in a “game situation”. I also clean my club between each shot. Want that hitting surface clean and I hate scratching my clubs up.

i dont give a crap what a person identifies as, but the all gender restroom is just taking it too far, i mean they bigger issue is these people are taking away my last little bit of joy in life. theres nothing better than walking by the mile long line of chicks waiting for the restroom and walking right in to guys restroom with no line. now they are just making two long lines 🤬🤬🤬

i love his "perceived" $hit talking. In reality he just speaks truth. He doesn't give the guys on tour any slack. In his eyes you've made it to the pinnacle of the sport and you better play like it on every shot. I freakin love that. No dancing around anything, you hit it like crap or play like crap he will let us all know that you did. 🤣🤣 Every sport needs more announcing/ commentating like that. Also if its true its pretty cool that the PGA logo is him.

Driver- Cobra F6 played at 10.5* reshafted with accuflex evolution x flex tipped an inch FW- Srixon F45 4w played 1* strong at 16* reshafted with a Proforce Axiv red s flex(hard shaft to find lately) Hybrid- Srixon H45 3i 19* stock Kuro Kage s flex Irons- 4-P Srixon z945 non tour issue x100 Wedges- Cleveland 588 original rotex face stock s200(will be getting replaced with rtx3’s very soon) Putter- Tour Edge Backdraft, I also use a odyssey blade( I believe no. 4) but we are currently disagreeing on what a “made putt” is. i threw this in because I’ve mentioned the long drive stuff in another post. This was my training/ practice club. Big Bang 450 7.5* with an old rifle 7.0 shaft. 48.5” inches. If you look close you can see that it has a ton of lead tape on it, not just the head but all the way up the shaft in spaced out groupings. It weighs almost 600g now I just use it to dry swing and warm up before a round. Also im brand whore and a theme dork. Grips are done in a Irish theme but I used grey instead of white because white gets too dirty too quick.

What do you do with your old clubs when you get new ones?
CaseyD replied to ChetlovesMer's topic in Golf Talk
I’d rather give to family before a charity. But if the family has no interest or everyone is geared up then they will go to charity for sure. -
Hahahaha From 100 yards I’m like hell yea I’m on, that’s a only 73’ putt from there. 😎

Give them to family members. As I get better and spend more money on better quality clubs I pass the old ones down in order of interest. Example i got new srixon irons, son is currently playing grandpas old set. So he will get the Cleveland’s I replaced and grandpas set will get rebuilt into a set for my daughter. And then another set that she used to mess around with will get rebuilt for my nephew. -
Is there a certain “max” distance the USGA finds acceptable? im with everyone else that it’s not us that’s out driving the courses we play. Couldn’t the usga/pga just cut the fairway grass a little taller? The couple tourneys I’ve been to their fairways look shorter and harder than the greens at my course.( I’m being a little sarcastic but not much) Or for pros just go the nascar route of restrictor plates and dial the professional COR allowances back a little, like .815 or .800 seems like it could be a fairly simple fix for the small group of elite they are worried about.

My wife always asks me “why do like playing so much if you get so frustrated with it?” Hahahaha my favorite part about golf is right when you’re ready to smash the cart and break every club in the bag, you hit a sic ass 4i drawing straight into the flag and think wth, that’s the same swing I’ve had all day and I’ve sliced every damn shot before this one 😳😳😳😳

Once I got the “long drive” mentality out of my head I was able to go way up on my driver loft. I probably play a swing speed around 120 or so. I have typically used a 9* driver but have recently moved up to a 10.5* as my swing gets better. Training for long drive and practicing for golf are two completely different worlds. Took me a minute to figure that out. Right now hitting a Cobra F6 10.5* with an Accuflex Exolition X stiff shaft. I play it 45.5”. Not my favorite driver head but I won it at a scramble on the longest drive hole. Haha. Had to reshaft it because it had a regular flex shaft originally. Haven’t really ran into your issue with grips so I just a golf pride MCC

First set up was a 7* SMT deep bore 455 with accuflex extreme LD shaft(3x) the head Carl Wolter won with. Shortly after started hitting Bang golf Bang O Matics with accuflex assassin shafts. Last and favorite set ups were BOM with SKFibre lite revolution II shafts.(2X tipped1.5”) Heads ranging from 4.5 to 7.5 depending on conditions. I topped out at 142 mph swing speed. You’d be surprised what’s actually competitive, high 130’s and you’d be fine. You wouldn’t think but accuracy is actually more of a threat than speed. Few guys have both. I still use accuflex shafts in my playing driver. Accuflex Evolution. Hard to find but stull floating around. If you can get in the 130s you’ll breeze through locals and have fun at districts. Put enough in the grid and you could make it through districts.
