With my foursome we tee off every morning at 0800 Monday thru Friday. I used to go out as a single on Saturday and Sunday but, it's too busy for me and potential 4 1/2 to 5 hours rounds are a "no go" for me. So, during the course of our season we probably play about 350 +/- rounds of golf. Yes, I'm retired.. and to quote Bachman Turner Overdrive's "Takin Care Of Business" hit from 1973, "I love to work at nothing all day".. LOL.

This afternoon I took the golf balls to the driving range and they were glad to receive them. On the plus side, I found a shop / range that has two simulators, does winter leagues plus, they do fittings, instruction, build clubs and are very nice people. We BS'd for about 45 min. after the unload. So, it looks like I found a new "go to place" that's relatively close by... One of the reasons I've never been there before is that there's a HUGE "corporate" double deck driving range / practice facility 4 miles from my house. Anyway, this thread can be closed.

I looks like I found a taker... the privately owned driving range north of me said they would take the golf balls.
-
I kept many of the new ones too but, only Srixon and some Pinnacles. The HS kids here play the Pro V's their parents buy for them. LOL There is another driving range about 15 miles north of me that's privately owned that I forgot about.. I'll have to check with them.

OK, I originally planned to send these golf balls off to the troops overseas but, apparently the local Army National Guard blew me off. A few weeks ago I stopped by there and spoke to a guy, made arrangements, I boxed up all of the balls, send him an email with a picture and nothing, I never received any response. I also stopped by the local driving range to see if they wanted them but, per the management they can only use their logo branded balls. So, if anyone in the western Connecticut, Hudson Valley, Westchester County area, etc has a use for 4,500 +/- golf balls maybe for some kids golf program or driving range or personal use, you can have them for free. I'm in Danbury, CT. Most of the balls are clean, not cut up nor were they dredged out of the bottom of some pond. There are probably numerous of one hit wonders, new ones, old ones, etc and its a mixture of all kinds of brands. Sorry, no ProV's.. my nephew got those. But, there's probably everything else. There's roughly 100 balls per box. These were balls that were found by me or the others in my foursome over the past few years generally looking for our lost or OB balls. So, if someone wants them, shoot me a message and come get them. I would like to get rid of them all at once. I need the room.

OK, I've walked 36 holes in each of the True shoes. Both the Original and the Outsiders were "brand new" right out of the box. I found both pair were very comfortable, afforded excellent traction on the wet "morning dew" grass and both kept my feet dry. I experienced no slippage walking or during golf strokes. As to preference... I'm going to have to say the Originals. There's absolutely nothing wrong with the the Outsiders. BUT, from the point of view of someone that walks 18 holes 5 days a week and puts a lot of tough miles on shoes and feet... I need a shoe to be as comfortable as possible. I lean towards the Originals because of their "smooth toe box". I found that they are a bit more flexible where the foot hinges while walking. The Outsiders toe box is stitched around the top section and the flex is a little bit stiffer possibly due to this.. If one flexes both shoes in their hands they will find the Originals will flex much easier at this foot pivot point. Would I buy the Outsiders again?? I certainly would and probably will as they are a great good looking shoe. You could probably go out on a night on the town in the Outsiders. Based on my totally unscientific weighing of each pair of shoes on my wife's digital bathroom scale, the Originals came in at 1.8 pounds and the Outsiders at an even 2,0 pounds.

Played Friday and Monday in the new Originals.. IMO, it's a much improved shoe, I really like what they did to them. I found them to be comfortable and most importantly dry. We play every weekday morning at 0800 and being walkers the shoes tend to get really wet from the dew. With my previous "other brand" foot wear they would soak right through after several holes and when I got home I'd have to leave them out in the sun to dry out. I don't have to worry about doing this with the Trues. Then yesterday afternoon the UPS guy shows up with the True Outsiders. I opened the box, looked them over, and just thought "WOW...these are great". A different design style than the Originals and I couldn't wait to try them on.. so I wore them around the house. LOL. I wore them on our round of 18 this morning. No disappointments here. Like the Originals they are comfortable and dry. My footing felt secure and didn't have any issues with "slippage" on the steep portions of the course in the morning dew. This also holds true with the Originals. IMO, I find it's best to put these shoes on with the assistance of a shoehorn so one doesn't breakdown the heel or the shoe liner. They are a snug fit to get on. Now the hard part... which pair to wear... I really like them both. But, seeing that I have 2 rounds on the Originals and 1 on the outsiders, I'm going with the Outsiders tomorrow morning. After that who knows..LOL.

I'm currently playing a set of 1994 +/- Cobra Oversize Tour irons. So far I've played 3 of my best rounds ever with these irons, two 79's at the end of August and a 78 a couple of weeks later. I'm usually in the mid 80's to low 90's. I sort of went "backwards" with respect to irons.. I was using my set of 2008 Cobra UFI's and last year I blew the face plate insert out of my gap wedge and the sand wedge was on it's way out in the same manner, At that point I decided I was not going to buy another set of clubs with face inserts or chunks of plastic, etc attached to the heads. Found the Oversize Tours used and in really nice condition. I also have a back up set older than that... It's a set (2 - SW) of green dot Ping Eye's in beryllium copper. I think they're from the mid 80's. Also found them used. In fact they were barely used, if used at all. There wasn't a scratch on any of the heads and the grips were / are brand new.

What type of golfer are you huh?.... Hmmm, i guess the apparel image sums it up. LOL Talking, movement and whatnot doesn't bother me. Oddly, sometimes what does, is the "drone" of someone mowing a fairway or green very close to me and as I become set to swing the droning noise of the machine suddenly stops. It kind of triggers a.. "uh oh, what happened" reaction and sometimes I have to back off take a look and then re-address. .If the mowing doesn't stop all is good.

I got paired up with a couple of Asian guys.. (three some) Where they were from I have no idea. Tried to introduce myself at the first tee.. nothing, not a word. OK, off we go and during the course of 17 holes I tried to have some type of conversation, acknowledgement to some of their shots and such.. not a word from either of them. But, they were conversing quietly between themselves at times in who knows what language.. So, we get to the 18th hole which has high tension power lines that run across the fairway roughly about 150 yards or so out from the tee box. (course ruling is that if a ball hits one of the power lines it's a no penalty "do over") . So, one of these guys tee off and his drive hits a power line, ricochets off the line and into a pond. Instinctively I blurted out, "there's no penalty if you hit the power line, hit your tee shot again". The guy responds (in English).. something like, "Really?" tees and hits another ball and we finished the round without another word. After everyone putted out on the 18th they simply walked away. THAT was strange.. LOL

Late this afternoon UPS delivered my pair of True Originals. They look much better than the original Originals I had several years ago. I'll be trying them out tomorrow morning. I also had an email correspondence with True about the Lyt's that gave me blisters. They gave me a 50 dollar credit so, I bought a pair of Outsider's. They should be here sometime next week.

Great thread, sounds like a lot of fun. (except the lost wallet part). I got paired up with a husband and wife at my local municipal course, Richter Park. Introduced ourselves and the gentleman asks if I was familiar with the course. I told him I was and asked where he was from. He replied "Danbury". I then said, "You're from Danbury and you've never played here before?". He said, "No.., we're from Danbury, Iowa" They were both retired and playing a golf course in every state and yes, they had already been to Alaska and Hawaii. I had a great time with them, lots of stories of their travels. I'm retired.... maybe I should jump in the truck and do something similar. LOL

Nice find. I found one like that in the lost & found barrel at my club just before it was scheduled to go to the dump. It's a Ben Hogan / Apex Special SI in beryllium copper. I haven't used it in a while but, its a nice hitting club.

^^^ Ditto to what David said ^^^ I don't care for the corporate logos but unfortunately some club hats have a logo on the side of the hat. Maybe the club gets a better deal on their attire if it has someone's advertising in it....

I've smacked a few into the dirt after a bad shot. But, now I sometimes simply let the club drop behind me at the completion of the swing as I watch in dismay and pondering WTF??.... With the driver, when the shot goes about 175 yards or so, puts on it's right turn signal and goes 75+ yards to the right, I give it the shout out... "THAT BALL IS OUTTA HERE.... SEE YA!!". One has to watch the local Yankee's broadcasts to get that one. LOL

I've found several clubs and have turned them (as well as anything else found) in to the clubhouse if no one approaches and asks us first during the round. (we walk 18). We've also found head covers, towels, gloves, sunglasses, cell phone and the strangest of all... a Excogear Ecoxbt blue tooth speaker. How they lost something that big on a fairway I have no idea but, we turned that in too. At the clubhouse we did have fun with it trying to ..1. figure out what it was and 2. how to make it work. That thing sounded real good. The owner picked it up the next day. About a week ago my playing partner found a $10.00 bill just off the 9th hole.. turned that in too.

Well this is a good piece of information... I was thinking of buying a pair of those AfterShokz. Thanks for the review.. you saved me around 100 bucks. I was wearing the "hardwired" ear buds while doing yard work but, was always getting them tangled up on something and yanking them out of my ears. What made it worst was the fact that I wear hearing protection over them when using power equipment. So, I bought a pair of Skull Candy Ink'd wireless thinking they would be the answer. Nope, I was wrong. They work well as long as you don't move. Once you start moving around they "skip" or momentarily lose connection making it very annoying. I thought it may have been my phone but, after setting the phone on the my deck and working no more the 15 feet away they still "skipped". Don't bother wasting money on those. It must be inherent with wireless because I also picked up a pair of Tzumi wireless at Home Depot for 20 bucks and they also "skipped".

Music on the Course - When Did This Become a Thing?
CT207 replied to wedge player's topic in Golf Talk
Oh I have a pretty big playlist.. too big for the phone though. Now, if I put Ian Dury and the Blockheads down and you said THAT was weird I could understand. Hmm.. Rhythm Stick. That might be a good golf song. LOL -
The pain, at least for me, is excruciating. I'm no wimp when it comes to pain and it's extremely rare for me to go to the hospital but when that stone came on like "gangbusters" at around 2 am. I was glad I lived a mile from the hospital and for the 2 "pushes" of morphine gave me. That was only temporary since I still had to pass the stone. For that they gave me Oxycontin. The pain (for me) started in lower right back. It felt like someone was pushing a sharpened stick through me. I shrugged it off thinking I pulled a muscle. Then a few hours later it began to move into the urethra and all hell broke loose.. Screaming in pain and the subsequent ride to the hospital. Oh, and speaking of tea.. Before the attacks I was drinking A LOT Arizona's Arnold Palmer iced tea. I always had at least 2 cases of it in the second refrigerator. Haven't bought any of that in roughly 5 years. I don't drink soda either.

Music on the Course - When Did This Become a Thing?
CT207 replied to wedge player's topic in Golf Talk
I've only encountered music on the course a couple of times but, it doesn't bother me. Personally, I wouldn't play "publicly" audible music... People might think a senior citizen listening to Pink Floyd, Queen, The Rolling Stones, The Pretenders,Toto, Joe Cocker and the likes is weird. LOL. I have gave it some thought to playing with my bluetooth Skull Candy earbuds but, the guys I play with every morning like conversation while walking the course. I'd be yanking the buds out on a regular basis. That said, has anyone tried the Aftershokz Trekz Titanium bone conduction headsets??? I like the idea of being able to listen to music and also hear what's going on. -
My pre-order is in for a pair of Originals.. I hope these Originals are as good as the original Originals. LOL.

The old bridge was in bad shape. I hated driving over the large steel plate "patches" when they were wet. I haven't been over the new section yet but, it'll still be the Tappan Zee to me. It'll be hard to call it something else after knowing it as the TZ Bridge for 5+ decades. I wonder what my EZPass bill will call it... MCB?..Cuomo? Mario? Super Mario? LOL Oh, and I love the fact that they pulled out the toll booths and one doesn't have to jockey around / slow down for the EZPass / pay toll lanes, etc.

That's true..(pun intended) But, these were the same size as the previous 2 pair. The only difference is this pair was the Lyt. The material in the heel area is a fabric of some type instead of being smooth in the heel like the leather type. I believe the fabric material may be "bunching up" causing friction on the heel. I walk 18 everyday so, the feet don't get any "golf cart riding" rest. I really like the True's and I'll probably order a pair or two over the winter.

I don't drink water to lose weight. I drink a lot of water to make sure I don't get kidney stones again. After two episodes of stones, I don't want to go through that again.. ever. In the morning I'll have a 16oz coffee I'm at the golf course by 0800 Mon - Fri and will go through 2 to 3 16 oz bottles of water during the round. After the round I have a GatorAde.. I think they're 16 oz also. Upon returning home I have a Stainless steel 24 oz mug which I'll go through 2 or 3 of those throughout the afternoon / night. I'll occasionally squirt Real Lemon in for some tartness / different flavor. Also, Costco & BJ's sell Propel which is a flavored water.

I hope the new model shoes are better.. I was a BIG fan of the originals. I went through 2 pair (I'm a walker) in 2 years. The first pair that I wore out I took pictures of and sent them to True so they could see what roughly 1,000 miles of walking did to them. I play 18 holes 5 days a week. Anyway, I bought another pair and ended up with HUGE blisters on my heels. Even wearing large Band Aids didn't help. Not knowing what to get I bought a pair of New Balance and pair of Puma's. I like both of these but, the Puma's are my favorite out of the two. They are both ragged now so, I'll be needing a new pair soon. I would really like to get back into the Trues.. I like them but, I don't want to toss money away if they are going to give me blisters.
