  1. Do a search for internment camps and torture of muslims in China. Then look to see where most golf components come from. Kinda hard to see anyone taking the moral high ground by complaining about the Saudis. And don't get me wrong, I have absolutely NO affinity for the Saudis. We just have to watch where those fingers are pointing. Should also be boycotting Titleist, TM, Callaway, etc... China probably has the worst ongoing human rights record in history.
  2. Tiger for sure. Michael Jordan. Babe Ruth. Vince Lombardi All influenced their sport well beyond just their playing careers.
  3. About the same here in PA. Played Carroll Valley twice the last three days of December and twice the first few days of January. One of the days was immediately following the cold blast, so getting the tees into the ground was a bit of a challenge, and watching the ball bounce off of ice was a bit humoring once, but it was a good time and played decently for me.
  4. Another with hardwood floors. Shoes have never been a problem. Though we do keep them trimmed, my Golden's feet and his claws are likely much harder on the floor than any shoes. We want the house to be about being welcomed, not monitored. That said, I rarely wear my shoes inside simply because my Darn Tough socks are so stinkin' comfortable, I don't want the shoes on most of the time. (And I'm still dorky enough to get some good slides on the wood flooring every now and again!)
  5. I’m still notified by the number of people critical of Saudi (and rightfully so!) but who also don’t seem bothered by all the nations using sweatshops, child labor, etc to make shoes, clothing, etc for the companies and people of the PGA. I’ve participated heavily in global relief efforts over the years, and just like recent stories on child sex trafficking, human outrage is VERY selective. The Onion is a riot. I have no qualms with it. 🙂 As long as you are equally outraged by all the abuses in the countries that make clothing and other articles for PGA supporting companies, I have no issues with that whatsoever. 👍
  6. The Onion. Now there's a great objective, serious source! 🤣 I do agree the play isn't stellar so far, but the coverage isn't bad, IMO. We'll see where it goes. I really don't expect many to agree with me here, and that's okay. 👍
  7. Okay, I'm watching the tournament right now, streaming to my Apple TV, and I'm not minding it. The pace is good. Coverage seems adequate. Video quality appears good with no lagging so far. At this point there isn't all of the fluff and interviews that I think plague PGA coverage. Field appears to be every bit as good as the JD Classic this weekend, IMO. Wasn't sure what to expect, but it's holding my attention so far.
  8. Kinda hard to transplant a 100’+ tree. Or we can wait 50 years to grow an Oak.
  9. I thought I read that the course was accidentally set for some caddie challenge outing by mistake and that someone mistakenly mixed up the tournament dates?
  10. I've never seen it, but it sounds like it would simply be team stroke play. 4 players playing a par 4, so par is essentially 16 for the team. three bogies and one birdie means the team shot a two-over 18.
  11. As a decades long archery coach and avid shooting sports enthusiast (see my avatar and user-name), I can definitely state that eye dominance can be a very real hindrance for aligning sites for both firearms and arrows if one has cross dominance and hasn't addressed it. I've honestly never noticed any impact in a golf game, though. I am very right eye dominant which is great for my shooting sports participation (especially archery!) as I am also extremely right hand dominant. I could see eye dominance issues as a factor for aligning puts, especially using a putter shaft or fingers, or maybe even aligning shorter iron hits. If you putt right handed and align with your left eye, I could see it potentially impacting how you see the line differently while standing behind the ball or above it. From a long-hitting perspective, I would think that there's enough distance to not really throw off the perception. Plus, throughout one's life the body has become accustomed to make adjustments with basic eye/hand coordination, and I would see coordination being a much bigger issue as I've never had a problem with my extreme eye dominance. I'd be curious to see what an ophthalmologist says, but I just don't see a big impact to the overall golf game.
  12. If I were subjected to rap and all the accompanying rudeness that goes with it every time I played, I’d be done with golf forever. In a day with a million options for EarPods, headphones and other devices, including those that allow external sounds to play through them, there is no reason to subject others to music on the course. I listen to sermons frequently while I drive and engage in other activities, but would never assume that the entire golf course around me wants to hear Voddie Baucham blaring through a Bluetooth speaker.
  13. I typically play later in the day due to work/schedule as well as the fact that the course is generally less busy and I hate waiting 5-10 minutes for every shot. That said, nothing brings me more golf satisfaction that watching the sun come up a cool morning with dew on the fairways and freshly swept greens!
  14. If this isn't dealt with, it's not only HIS integrity that is in question.
  15. First off, I'm a Cobra golf fan. I have both a set of black Forge TEC irons and the copper RF Forged irons. The copper irons are my favorite clubs ever, even as a player not near scratch. And my LTDx LS driver is the longest, most consistent driver I've owned. But I can't get over the looks of these putters. I'd like to try one out sometime, but I'm just convinced based on the look alone that I would not care for them. Is that odd or do aesthetics play a large role for you? To me they look like prototypes that someone with some artistic ability needs to come along and create a finished product.
  16. I can't stand playing with bulky clothing, so my approach is to were a thin long sleeve shirt under a polo. I then wear a Northface jacket with hand warmers in the pocket. I drop the jacket to swing and then put it right back on. In weather below 50 I hardly even have people behind me, so the extra few seconds has never held anyone up, and wouldn't any more than putting a driver or putter cover on.
  17. Thanks for the feedback, guys! 👍
  18. Never mind. it appears that ESPN+ is basically what I'm looking for.
  19. Can any Golfpass members here tell me if a subscription allows for more watching of a tournament than just what Is broadcast on the Golf Channel and NBC? Thanks!
  20. I have Cobra black forge irons. Love the way they look and don't want them dinged up while rattling around in the bag. I also use hearing aids due to congenital hearing loss and the rattling sound of the clubs is unbelievably irritating to my ears. Additionally, I was raised to take care of what you work for, so, yes, I use covers for my irons. I put the covers back on when I walk back to the cart or if I'm walking I put them on quickly before putting them b ack in the bag which takes maybe 2 seconds. If people think it's silly, they can pound sand. It's not my business if you put catsup on your steak and it's not yours if I put covers on my irons. If you like it, have at it.
  21. As a pastor who very much enjoys golf, who has counseled many couples over the years dealing with difficulties, and is married to someone who has ZERO interest in the game, and who has, admittedly, complained of being a ‘golf-widow’ on occasion, I can offer a couple of pieces of advice. First of all, not that the topic shouldn’t be raised here, but it certainly won’t be solved here: does your husband want the marriage to work? If so, find a neutral third party who doesn’t have a vested interest in one of you over the other. You both need to hear the truth and know that it is as objective as possible. Secondly, don’t bring up any of your struggles on social media. If there’s any chance that he could happen across a post somewhere where he could feel that you’re airing dirty laundry in front of others, it can do great harm to an already fractured relationship. Thirdly, the next time you bring this up with him, I would suggest it not be when you are experiencing the first relaxing leisure time together. If you’re having a good conversation, ask if you can set up a time to talk about your marriage together. It’s easy to take a good experience and ruin it by putting someone on the spot. At that point, you’ve only made one more not-so-good experience together. Fourthly, how are the other aspects of your relationship? I don’t expect (or want!) you to answer this here, but you do need to answer it honestly to yourself. I’ve yet to see a broken relationship that is solely the responsibility of one person. How is your physical relationship? How much do you share each other’s interests? Golf is something many folks enjoy thoroughly, but I’ve also seen people dive into hobbies because it becomes a mask for other issues. Was everything great before golf? If not, then you both need to back things up and see where they actually started to go south. Unfortunately, no one here is going to come up with a quick-fix for you. It’s going to take time and honesty—both with each other and yourselves, but if you’re both committed, then it can definitely be salvaged!
  22. What about obesity? Is there a difference between becoming addicted via legitimately prescribed medication vs social experimentation and/or partying? There's any number of 'physical' or 'medical' hardships people face. It's disappointing that because of our "do not judge" culture we're no longer able to practice legitimate, practical discrimination.
  23. Every once in a while I'll eat if I start feeling the hunger pangs, but if I do, it's typically something salty with good protein. My goto is either a small bag of cashews or even a small snack size bag of bacon that I throw in my golf bag. I'm not looking for a meal, just something to keep me going. Staying hydrated is a must.
  24. We'll see how much rain we get over the next few days. I played Autumn Ridge this evening and it's amazing how much drier it is today than it was just a couple of days ago. Of course we've got more rain coming in so who knows what it will be like in 8-10 more days. Hopefully things will be in good shape for you.
