  1. By the way My sister didn't take up the game until she was 13 years old. In five years she was an All American at Oklahoma State University, four years later she started her ten year career on the LPGA. Anything is possible. Don't give up. I wished I were 18 again and chasing a dream. At 41 sometimes I think I am running from them.
  2. Give it your damndest effort. Nothing is impossible but what you are asking is highly unlikely. Although Micheal Jordan was cut from Freshman Basketball in High School, he turned out OK. Get a decent used full set, take some lessons, at least ten 30 minutes sessions to begin with. Hit balls every day all day until you hit it well enough to have some idea where it's going and making reasonable contact 90% of the time. Until then stay off the course it will only deflate you. You want harsh? I am not going to give it to you. Everybody is different. There are old guys on these type of boards that have played and practiced themselves to death and haven't gotten better in 20 years. Only you can make what you want to have happen. When you speak of the University team. how well are the players on that team? Does the bottom guy break 80 regularly? Could you? I don't know but It is possible.
  3. True when I read drop I read dropped it where I thought it was lost but that was not the case. I guess it's because most of the time I lose a ball or go out of bound its with a driver in my hands, whereas I re tee it. Casual reminder.... I need to get a new driver!! and some reading glasses or reading comprehension classes.
  4. if it truly were an unfair advantage everybody would switch to it. Not every body can putt effectively that way. I can assure that every tour pro would use everything within the rules to play or putt better. This is the best case to support that this method of putting is not an advantage of any kind universally.
  5. I voted no... Here' my only issue with belly putters and not long putters. with a belly putter the player has three points of contact with the golf club, both hands and the belly providing a pivot point. I use and have used a long putter for 20 years. I only have two points of contact with my putter, both hands. I do use one as a pivot and the other drives the putter. Is an advantage? It is for me. Is it within the rules? Yes. Will i continue to use it? Yes. With all the advancements in technology I must say that those are more of an equalizer than any change in technique. I am a very good putter with it, but it's just as easy to miss with it as it is with anything else. Oh...I don't give 4 a side to anyone and a wear a skirt.
  6. There is never a situation where a lost ball results in a drop. But who cares? you lost the hole anyway. Quitting is strange though.
  7. You guys are funny... Live and let live. If one guys thinks it's great so be it. If another guys thinks you're an idiot for smoking it so be it. Who cares. All I remember is if you were high right now reading this stuff you would be laughing your a$$ off right now. Life is good. BTW, I work for a drug testing lab and know way more about most of this stuff than any of you guys. It's just not worth the time. There have been some good points and some inaccurate points made in all these pages but the bottom line is most opinions are not going to change. I wish they would legalize it, it would double my business.
  8. Give the guy a break... it's interesting. Although I too am skeptical about it being extra terrestrial, it's still interesting. I saw the lights over Phoenix many years ago, nobody adequately explained those and thousands of people saw them.
  9. Stock PW 54 and a 58. I think any more than 2 sand wedges and your limiting your option in other clubs too much. I can do whatever I need to with those two wedges. Although I need something with less bounce in my higher lofted wedge.
  10. I like demo day but you have to remember demo day is basically a circle jerk for equipment junkies. All the reps tell you exactly what you want to hear and more often then not this is the one place where launch monitors are juiced a bit. What i like about it is that you can try out just about anything and it's all there. LM numbers on these days are generally 10% exaggerated IMO. Most units have some calibration. If your selling clubs you want your potential customers to feel like they are hitting it further with your stuff. Get 5 reps with LM and watch the numbers soar.
  11. I always wear a glove, I feel naked without it.
  12. Speaking form experience... Tiger does not have the yips. If he did he would have missed the cut by 10 shots on those greens. What he lacks is confidence. That's all putting is. Did anyone see that Jim Nantz thing before the Masters on Sunday? Those guys used the wristy old style putting with no problem, mostly because they believed they would make em.
  13. Good for you!!! Enjoy it!! Under par is under par. You didn't design the course or print the score card! NICE JOB!!! I had a hole in one once on a 120 yard temporary par three . The guys who drank for free said it counted and that was good enough for me.
  14. I love the Masters but I am pretty sure Augusta National is made up of stuffy old white guys. Not a terrible thing mind you... I'll be one shortly, I just doubt I would tell some 22 year old multi-millionaire that has qualified for what many believe to one of the prestigious events in his sport how he should present himself. He's a man now he should understand some decorum. But old white guy should also be respectful of the situation himself and had said something outside the privy of the press or anyone else.
  15. There are no exceptions to ball flight. There is a distinct marriage between club path and face angle. Swing out side in wit a square face and the ball will curve to the right. Swing inside out with a square face and the ball will curve left. Change the face angle and you can either accentuate or negate some of the effect of swing path. This guy sounds like a tool. When he hit a ball dead straight with a closed face at set up I can guarantee you that the face was not closed at impact. I've been playing many years and could easily repeat what you saw here by simply manipulating my swing path and hands through the ball for the desired ball flight regardless of what the set up is.
  16. Quote: No I have never seen a scratch golfer wearing jeans on the course, but I am sure that they exist. I am one, although I belong to a club that enforces the dress code. I have no problem with it either way. I can wear my jeans to the course for 14 more days. As a private club I think most of our membership would prefer people dress appropriately. Even when i wear jeans it's usually with a polo or wind shirt. During the summer I wear shorts mostly. I would love a closet full of loud mouth golf pants, I would wear them every round. I love that stuff.
  17. This is easy.... White driver!?!? It's just not right. Gayest looking thing I have ever seen in golf. Don't a be a sucker, it's not going to make you play better. It won't go any further and it won't go any straighter. The tool you have that can make those changes is you.
  18. I actually called a hole in one once. A couple years ago our club had a par four that the fairway was flooded so they made it a temp par three form about 120 yards. My playing partner said damn, that's a tough pin. They placed right behind a bunker on the back left corner of the green. Since I didn't need any negative thoughts right then I said, no it's not so bad just throw the ball back there on the hump and spin down into the hole. 10 seconds later that's exactly what I did. Probably not the best shot of my life but is the only hole in one I called out.
  19. I think rockbottomgolf.com is a great resource for new but a couple year old stuff really cheap. They have just about everything. I have bought form them 6 or 7 times with no problems.
  20. Erik send me another xbox friend request, I forgot about this thread and deleted your first one. Sorry. I was playing last night for awhile.
  21. I find the best place for waving people through is right next to the flag. Statistically the the safest place. I say that but... about 20 years ago I had a group wave me on a par three they all stood right next to the flag!? I hit one of them in the leg about 3 feet right of the pin. It' was the first time I had ever struck another player with a ball.
  22. I liked it a lot. I think it will take a while to build a player though. After a few rounds I think I'll play most courses on fast mode when ever possible. Course play too easy when is slow or average mode. The putting is a bit complicated but I am getting the hang of it. I think I 4 putted 7 times yesterday. But i working on building up my putting XP before any thing else. Like real golf, putting makes or breaks you.
  23. XBL tag is looongball. I mostly play black ops but I just picked up TW2012 this AM and I am planning on getting into it this evening. Funny enough I haven't played a golf video game in about 10 years. So I am sure it will take a few days to get the hang of it. I downloaded the demo for the xbox and played the 18th hole about a dozen times.
  24. Unfortunately nothing listed is worth much hope you didn't pay more than a couple bucks for each.
