I don't do it so I don't know how it is done, or even if each league does it the same way. But it works. As far as the USGA, when they decided to use social engineering tools to weigh who gets to play in youth tournies, regardless of qualification, they lost me. Among other reasons, but that was the last straw. Accepting less qualified candidates over more qualified candidates under any circumstances is just plain wrong.

A few of my leagues do their own handicapping, it cuts down on the sandbaggers and gets the vanity cappers where they belong. I no longer support the USGA for a number of reasons and will in no way provide them with money whenever possible.

In MI if the club moved the hole after the couple lived there, the club bears responsibility. If the hole is as it was when the couple purchased the home, the onus is on them. Reminds me of the people that bought houses in a new sub next to a dairy farm, then sued the farmer because his farm smelled like a ....farm. Judge dismissed it with prejudice

Yesterday, on my sim league. Back finally loosened up and my 63 yr old self unleashed a 272 yard drive followed by a 277 yard drive, of course it took till I got to 17 & 18 for the back to let me go after it a bit........ I had been driving in the 220's the first 3 holes, then the 230's and 240s prior to the last two holes. LOL Pretty soon it will warm up and the back might cooperate quicker outdoors.

I have only seen a couple 11 woods in 45 years of golf. I did pick up a 9 wood a few years back when I saw some pros bagging them at the US Open. It has actually turned out to be a great club, much easier to hit out of bad lies and rough than a long iron. I don't know if I am ready for an 11 yet, but I'll hit one at Carls....

I play two leagues that are both net stroke play and match play, number of holes won over the season and low net both pay out. We play skins and Nassaus most weekend casual rounds, sometimes 2 man best ball. Match play is my favorite because someone can have a meltdown and still be in it....

Pings are probably the most forgiving drivers out there, but in my experience, the create a lot of backspin and aren't exceptionally long. There is however, much to be said about being 10 yards short in the fairway.,.....I found that the Titleist TSI and TSR 2 drivers offer very good forgiveness, but are longer than the Pings. Meanwhile, on the Fairway wood side, for me the Ping G30 is a rocket, spins less than the TSR, but is easy to launch. So I am packing a Titleist driver and Ping fairways. My stuff doesn't have to match, it just has to work.........

Right now I don't bag a 3 wood. I'd happily add a G430 3 wood because I am pretty sure I could reliably launch it.

Thanks for the invite, but those dates put us in the heart of the Walleye run, smallmouth prespawn feed fest, and the Muskie bite.......... I am not leaving home, I am minutes from my fishing grounds on St Clair and some great golf on days too windy to fish. -
Hit my 9 wood to 3' from 186 yards yesterday. The resulting bird sealed the match for us. Never could have stuck an uphill 5 iron like that towering 9 wood stuck.

I play a 5, sometimes a 7 & 9 when the wind is down or the greens are hard. 9's are quite versatile. Problem is I like my 4 & 5 irons too much to bag the 7 & 9 in lieu of them every round. 9 woods are amazingly versatile. Never tried to hit an 11 or even more lofted wood, I hit the 6 I on down high and spinny when I need..

63 yr a old....I was playing a 9 and 7 wood last weekend. On a par 5 that started poorly my 189 yard 9 wood approach stopped 3' from its pitch mark, well within 10" from the pin. Shot of the round. Lovey 7 &9 woods. -
Level ground. Mild cross wind. Carried a hazard off the tee today that was a 276 yard carry. Ball was another 18 yards up the fairway. Not much to talk about for some of you, but I'll be 63 next month.... That was one of my best drives all year. And I put the TSI 2 in the bag because it hadn't been getting much love lately, sitting at home feeling neglected. Lol

Heck, after 18 holes I have to retire them from regulation courses, relegating them to par 3 courses. My wedges will scuff up any ball enough in 18 holes I don't want to drive with them any more.

I carry 2 drivers. One changes course to course, one replaced my 3 wood. It's a 12 degree Mizuno STX with a high launching shaft. Very forgiving, and I have to put some effort into working the ball. A higher lofted driver with ample backspin may be the answer to your driving woes...

Today. 166 yard par 3, playing almost dead into a 15 mph wind. Ball striking wasn't at its best today, so rather than playing a knock down I figured I'd just hit a standard 6 iron and let the BXS balloon and that would knock the distance off. It did. Ball pitched 4' from the hole, and pretty much stopped dead, pulling back about 8" from where it hit.

Repeatedly. It happens. My sister in law got nailed last month with a drive and she got 6 staples in her scalp as a result....

I'll play lofted fairways (7 & 9 woods) instead of long irons on courses with long uphill approaches, or when things get really firm. -
As I have aged my driver loft for ideal launch and carry has kept going up. I do believe part of it is my swing, but there is also a decided loss of clubhead speed. Now 62, and I just spent some time getting fitted.... 10.5 degree Mizuno STZ cranked up to 11.625 degrees and -0.5 face angle. Average distance carry and rollout 245-265..... about 15 yards longer on the average than at 10.5 degrees.

I play three 9 hole leagues a week and at least 18 on the weekends, might golf twice or take the boat out and fish the other day. My wife has degenerative disc disease, but wants me to keep doing the things we always did, Golf, hunt, fish.....

I understand where you are coming from, but on the other side of the coin, it is a PRIVATE club. And last I checked, the Constitution still assured us freedom of association. No one is stopping anyone from joining a club where they are welcome, or even starting their own. I view this as akin to suing because you weren't invited to a private dinner party you wanted to attend........
