Now THAT is some creative taxation - these guys in UK really must be down to their last penny... Better join the european union quick so we can bail you out :) I wonder if any of the players in the old days complained about not getting "paid" playing in a nations event, where it should be an honor to play for your country, not a duty. What a digusting attitude!

I read a comment on a blog where someone called Sean Foley a "non-PGA" coach. What does that mean? Wasnt he educated like all the other PGA professionals or did he go through a different training program? Whats his background? Anybody got an idea?
-
His head always dropped, in the back and as well in the downswing - even when he was hitting it well. Thats not the solution to his problems... For those of you who are intrested - this guy analysed Tigers head dip and compared it to Ben Hogan who had the same action going on:
-
You sure about that? The GC just showed his "shot highlights" like 4 or 5 times during the broadcast. IMO thats pretty ambitous for a guy thats at the bottom of the leaderboard. On the other hand, i havent seen a single shot of AK or JB Holmes or pretty much 80% of the Top of the leaderboard and how they got there....... The GC (or any other media network in that regard) is like a gambler, he just cant let go.

Once Phil shows up with a 30inch-Driver the cursing will stop - PROMISED! But until then, what are you supposed to do if you cant hit a fairway to save your life - bless the golf god? I dont think so.
-
I agree, thats why i think we just should accept the fact that Tigers game stinks at the moment, and we shouldnt try to sugercoat it. He should get his stuff together and after that we can see if he will be a force to be reckoned with or just some other guy like Ernie or Phil or Steve Stricker.. Discussing his game and his potential right now is pretty useless.
-
I really hope he gets a wildcard and accepts it, since his "efforts" on playing himself on the team dont seem to work out. Oh wait - i´m european.........
-
Dont worry, we can still make it on the seniors tour - Scratch is good enough - problem is, Tiger is playing there back then paying for his dozens of future children and his divorces, so it will get automatically thougher....

The MP32 are have been a great set and will be for a long time - and you can get them so cheap, why would you even bother buying MP68s. But one thing of caution, if you had wrist problems in the past, coming from a faulty golf swing - blades will hurt you, i´ve been there. So get some professional advice to get this problem fixed and after that you and your MP32s will have a great relationship (about one shot every round or so ). And just in case, you should have some Cavitybacks in reserve. And yes - Tiger is right, everybody has his individual golfswing. Tiger does, Phil does, AK does - Charles Barkely does, but that doesnt mean that his golf swing is fundamentally correct, compared to the other 3 guys mentioned - THATS the difference.
-
Try this out. Get some difficult equipment, go on a really difficult narrow course where ballstriking counts, play from the tips, get a local guy with about the same handicap and gamble for a lot of money to simulate the pressure - then report back what you shot and put this in comparison to your handicap. One more thing - if you have trouble hitting your long irons you obv. have some kind of swing flaw - stuff like that just doesnt go away overnight and will hinder your future progress considerably.
-
If i look at your front video - you have a lateral shift and a hip rotation (which is a bit open for impact) - do you actually plan on more lateral shift? To me it looks a bit, when you are hip high on the downswing, you come in with a proper "LAG", but from this point til impact it seems you try to actively release into the ball with your right arm and therefore destroying the LAG instead of just letting the clubhead release passivly? Sorry if i´m totally off here, i´m not the best at analysing swings.
-
Love the lower body action in your swing. Regarding the hands, we are talking about the slight flipping through impact, right? Eric, could you please elaborate why you have him do this?

What is with all this bump&run; advice, what if he has to play to a tight pin, to an uphill green, to a bunkered green, where he cant just bump & run it all the way, what if the fairway is crappy and he cant put 10 yards through fairway? Not everybody plays on St. Andrews fairways or can pull a texas wegde from 50 yards... Just because you chip with a sandwedge doesnt mean you hit it 10m high everytime. Hitting a chip from 10y out probably wouldnt even rise above 1m on a standard shot but has a lot of spin so he checks and stops quickly. And if you play on sloped greens you can use this to your advantage much more than you could ever do if you would bump&run; it.

Couple of months ago i went to a pro, because i pulled a lot left. Back then i started experimenting with the right hand thumb and index finger being more active and applying pressure. He told me to take them off completly and swing without them, and all off a sudden the left pulling stopped. I assume that the applied pressure somehow closed the clubface. But again, imo you can only do this if you are a pure swinger. Since then i read up on this stuff and decided to go the hitter/switter route and actively use the this pressure point and i dont have any problems with pulls whatsoever.

How much from beginning of the green to flag? Thats pretty relevant imo. By chunking you mean fat? And we are talking about a general chip shot here right? What helped me tremendously was watching Phils DVD, although no secret, since its pretty basic. A bit of wristcock on the backswing and then just pushing through the ball, not actively releasing the wrist cock and my contact got better quickly. I frequently chipped of a thin carpet that was layed on concrete, and i also often chunked it, but afterwards i didnt had any problems with it anymore. So my guess would be you, you are to handsy, trying to pick the ball (by flipping), instead of hitting down and that causes your chunk.

TGM differentiates between swingers and hitters. When i hit, i actively use my right arm to release the club into the ball, therfore the pressure point with the rigth index finder and thumb is absolutly necessary - you couldnt do it without. On the other side swingers dont want active right hand participation and want a passiv / centrifugal force release into the ball. From this perspective it should be understandable that this pressure point can cause a lot of harm, since it is belived that an active right arm into a swingers release (switter) can throw the swing completly out of balance. I havent read this book, so i cant really say, if there is a swing specific target group for it, but i hope this explanation helped anyways.

Does the PGA Tour need Tiger to win a major?
kafka01 replied to The Recreational Golfer's topic in Tour Talk
Actually it isnt - you might check this article http://www.golf.com/golf/tours_news/...863837,00.html for TV ratings & Tiger Woods. The time when Tiger wasnt playing the TV-ratings were down big time. -
Isnt that the running joke in like every golf club? If you had a boring round you had a good one? I guess thats the same for us amateurs as for the pros.
-
On the European tour he avg. 290-295 - Casey´s avg is longer. We should always judge these things in the big pictures not just within a couple of holes were things like bounces/wind conditions and so on have a big effect. Here is his swing - looks pretty standard to me if you ask me...

Does the PGA Tour need Tiger to win a major?
kafka01 replied to The Recreational Golfer's topic in Tour Talk
You might wanna read up on some of the LPGA threads on this board and realize that it matters A LOT. Even the LPGA was getting "tired" with the asian dominance on their tour since they couldnt sell this to their target audience, loosing sponsors and TV money left & right. They didnt had problems selling it in the asian market, but again, thats not where they make their main money from. In the end its all about marketing and selling it off, and selling a YE Yang (just hypothetical if he would become a dominant force) to a western audience is a lot more challenging (impossible?) than a Mickelson or Woods. -
Seems like everybody nowadays just expects a choke of the leader and is just waiting to get the trophy handed to him - LOL. If you want something, take it, dont wait til somebody decides to screw up and get it handed to you. Maybe a change in attitude towards this regard might help these guys... Regarding the final round being boring - I´m sure if "some other dude" was a top of the leaderboard crushing the field, nobody wouldnt even dare to call it boring. Everybody would have raved about his "marvellous" eagle putt on the 9th and for the next few weeks we would see rerun after rerun of his victory. But since this "other dude" is a bit out of shape, it must have been boring to watch for many. GET USED TO IT!

Does the PGA Tour need Tiger to win a major?
kafka01 replied to The Recreational Golfer's topic in Tour Talk
I agree - but as of right now, the PGA Tour is pretty much like GM, trying to sell the old glory and not planning for the future or being ignorant of the present. And i´m sure they had a cozy decade with Tiger bringing in all the money. That was an easy sell - guess now its time to work for your salary again, Mr. Finchem. I really dont think, that any of the young guns will be the next big thing. Sure, they are all very good players, but you can spot a "prodigy" miles away, and all those young guys arent. They are on a very equal performance level, but nobody seems to have shown big outperformance in the past. Oh dont worry, there are several young guns in the making, but you guys wont like it where they come from. 10-15 years from now the PGA-Tour will look like the LPGA Tour now. Maybe you should check some results of relevant junior tournaments and the dominance of asian players. And if you thought this British Open was boring now, what do you think how boring it will be then to watch, when the leaderboard is filled with names we cant even pronounce nor can we identify with... -
He´s still putting the same slow greens, now with his SC? That doesnt make sense. If you actually want to switch putters for slower greens, you would use some kind of mallet putter to have more force, not just switch from a blade to a blade putter. So Tiger reasoning for switching to a Nike blade in the first place is kind of flawed. Too bad for him his ballstriking never was the superb thing in his game, but his putting.
-
O boy - this method thingy seems to suck hard What a PR desaster for Nike - who is gonna buy these things now (esp at that price) - you probably find them soon at Walmart for 20$/piece .
