  1. I don't think so. The driver is the one club in your bag that's not supposed to go a specific yardage. It's supposed to go as far as you can crush it. So don't you think that taking out a variable in your setup is worth a couple of pennies? I use Pride prolength 2 3/4" yellow & white. Same height every time.
  2. I just wear swimming trunks. $5 @ wallmart.
  3. Eat less, move more. Simple as that. You don't have to track calories, micro macro whatever. You don't have to give up the things you love (Beer!). I lost 75 lbs in 2014/2015, It can be done.
  4. It's NEVER too hot to golf. I don't care if it's playing, driving range, chipping or putting. Today It was sunny, 95 with a nice 7-9 mph breeze. The course was empty, love it!
  5. I have installed many different companies grips with just air, no tape or solvent and none of them have slipped. In fact the only grip that I've had move on the club was a Pure. I don't think that you can blow on Winn or Superstroke grips though.
  6. Depends on your game and course conditions. I find around here most pin placements are on the left side of the green, probably because most people slice. My normal miss is left so I am often stuck with little green to use. Drop and stop is an advantage to me.
  7. I've scored many ridiculous Craigslist/Goodwill deals but my best is a Par Aide Master golf ball washer with stand and a Par Aid standard pin (19th flag) and cup with a mounting base all brand new for $25. I actually felt a little guilty driving away after that one!
  8. I bought a cheapo MacGregor 64 deg. wedge back in the early 90's. Thought it would be fun to chip over furniture in the house. Well that club has never left my bag since. Just bought a duplicate just in case.http://www.ebay.com/sch/Golf-Clubs/115280/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=macgregor 64 wedge&LH_Complete=1&rt=nc&_trksid=p2045573.m1684
  9. I take one of those rubber tee things that go in the range mats, turn it upside down onto a broken wooden tee to hold it up straight.
  10. I think that with a soft grip like Winn you squeeze the club too hard. Firm is better and I would error on the side of larger than smaller. Smaller grips cause hooks for me. I play Ping NTS wrap grips white color code which is one size larger than I was fit for. With the right grip you sometimes won't even need to wear a glove.
  11. The guy I played with today is a PGA club pro but also a friend of mine. I've seen numerous people bug him for free advice and I don't want to be one of those guys. He normally waits until the last tee shot of the day to say anything to me knowing I already have too many swing thoughts in my head at once. Today he pointed out that I have too much arms and not enough core in my swing. Well that's probably because I'm fighting the forward drift. I'll see if I can post some video but still concerned about the shaft choices given my age and slower swing speed.
  12. I'm currently 47 and 5' 5" tall. In 2015 I lost about 75 pounds. I also lost my swing. I've been fighting what I call the wobbles. At 200 pounds I had a fairly repeatable swing. Now at 127 lbs I have to really focus now on the fundamentals, especially on my turn, to avoid swaying (mostly forward). I've made great strides in rebuilding a swing but it seems to come and go far more often then it used to. Any suggestions for making it repeatable? To make matters more complicated, I've spent alot of time working out. At first it was all cardio which actually helped my golf swing by making me more flexible but now weight lifting has me questioning my golf club choices. I was playing regular flex Ping G10 graphite irons and I hit them well up until the weight lifting. Now I have no feel of where the club is in the backswing. I just bought a set of regular flex Ping G25 steel irons thinking that it would help swinging a heavier club even though the swingweights are close. I saw mixed results over the last 4 days at the range and I know some of this is my new, not yet solidified swing. The feel is different going back to steel and the ball flight is lower but distance seems to be about the same if not a little longer with steel. I played 9 holes this morning (par 3 course) and played 2 balls off each tee hitting both sets of irons. I was surprised to find on 7 of the 9 holes the steel shaft was the better shot even though it felt like the opposite at contact. Usually golfers go from steel to graphite but has anyone near my age gone back to steel? I never had any negative effects on my swing when I originally switched to graphite and I'm wondering how long it normally takes to get used to a big switch like this? I don't want to take a backwards step in the evolution of my golf swing so I'm asking if you all think I'm on the right thought path or should I just add a bunch of lead tape to my graphite heads and sell the new ones. Obviously I'm a little unsure of the best path for getting better. Thanks for your time.
  13. Herman Williams now teaches at Knights Play in Apex. You can check out his videos on YouTube but be warned, he is not cheap.
  14. Thanks but I was looking for an easy way to get it both on and back off intact.
  15. I almost bought one today but I have yet to find out if it can be installed using an air compressor like Pure grips. Anyone ever blow one of these on?
  16. When do golf stores EVER have good deals? Today I went to the grand opening of Golf Galaxy's new mega superstore near me and even after the so called discounts the prices were still higher than my clubs pro shop. The store was really awesome, 8 hitting bays and fitting stations plus 3 specialty rooms for fitting Ping, Callaway and Taylormade. Suprised Titleist was not represented but still a really cool place. I really have no clue how these places stay in business. I guess some folks don't mind paying $50 more for the same putter as elsewhere.
  17. Shaft extensions lead tape Ping Eye Two BeCu lob wedge from 1987 Macgregor Response putter from 1986
  18. Has anyone used an air compressor to install a Super Stroke putter grip?
  19. "The issue I have is carrying clubs I don't use." The issue I had was carrying clubs I didn't hit well. Last week I got tired of spending countless hours on the range trying to perfect my swing to hit the harder clubs. So I decided to only carry the clubs I have faith in and hit well with my current swing. I cut my 4 and 5 hybrids down to their respective iron lengths, dumped my 3 hybrid and added back my old 23 deg. 9 wood. Surprisingly my gaps don't suffer and I'm now a happier golfer' D 230 4w 200 9w 185 4h 175 5h 165 6i 155 7i 145 8i 135 9i 125 pw 115 gw 100 sw 90 lw 80 fw 60
  20. I would look for an outdoor GRASS range that carries demo models. If you find one you love they just might offer you a great price on a lightly used demo driver. Some places will let you take the demo out to another course to try out. I bought my last 2 that way and now I'm contemplating the new Callaway X Hot 2.
  21. Interesting weekend, Saturday COLD, wet and windy (this is August, right?) played with the newest PGA pro on staff. Nervous as could be on the first couple of holes but I finally settled down on the 4th. We got 10 in before the rain and 4 more before the greens were puddling from so much water. Shot 8 over and only 3 behind the pro. Sunday I played with the new grounds crew superintendent. What a mistake. Every shot I took (all bad) somewhere in the back of my mind I envisioned him getting pissed from divots, ball marks, not following 90 degree rules, etc. I just was not capable of a decent tee shot at all. In addition this guy was the fastest player I have ever seen, I had a hard time keeping up and I am not a slow player. Played nine in less than an hour walking (he was riding). After nine I was 11 over and just gave up. I would like to be a fly on the wall in the pro shop if/when these 2 guys compare their rounds and realize they both played with the same guy.
  22. Has anyone checked EBay lately? I just watched a set of BeCu 1 thru SW go for over $1800. Thinking of selling mine now.
  23. Which one did you go to?
  24. Hey Joe, When do ya want to play? Did you sign your 8 year old up for Tim's clinic this month?
  25. I play graphite and will never go back. I am never sore after a round or practice session compared to when I play steel. For my slower swing speed it works great but I find that it makes little difference when you get to wedges since you rarely want to step on a wedge. You are looking for consistency and I think the extra weight of the steel helps me from over swinging a wedge.
