I have come across this problem as well. Very, very rarely will I hit a shank while playing a round. Yet when practicing I can hit two or three in a row and be completely confused about why I have done it. Usually the shots before and after the shanks are hit flush. I guess it is a lack of focus while practicing. Although I tend to focus on the basics while hitting balls on the range. I'd love to know what causes this cause it can shatter your confidence with certain clubs.

Thanks for the link to this. I was looking for it. Looks like she has a chance if she can continue the consistent play! -

My MP-68s are way better than AP2s! When I was buying my set of irons I narrowed it down to AP2s and MP68s and tested both of them thoroughly. Went with the Mizunos because they just felt better to me as well as looked better. Both are really great irons though. Good to hear that you are happy with your purchase.

I prefer to use my time at the golf course as a chance to get away from women for a little. But that's just me.

I really like Michelle Wie and I think she is going to be a great golfer for many years to come. She just had the unfortunate privilege as being crowned the next golfing great at a young age and I feel like that brought too much pressure upon her before she was ready to accept it. She is only 20 years old and that is still very young, give the girl a little more maturity and it just might be lights out for the rest of the tour. I could see her going on a long reign as the top woman golfer in the world.

Just keep looking around and be patient. You will find exactly what you are looking for. Being a lefty sucks sometimes, I know all about that.

This is incorrect. Phil 272 + 287 + 289 + 282 = 1130 Tiger 277 + 287 + 285 + 286 = 1135 Phil wins by 5 shots.

It would make my course management a whole lot different. I guess I could drop the 3 wood, a wedge or two(I carry four) and a three iron. Usually play a few three irons from the tee on short par fours. Might be fun to try though!

Thank you to everyone that provided me with some feedback on this thread! This is just the kind of information that I was looking for.

Just looking for a little bit of feedback before I make my next big iron purchase. I was going to buy the Callaway Prototype irons but they decided to discontinue the irons before I could get a set. Being a lefty didn't help me out much either. I've narrowed it down between the Titleist AP2, Titleist CB, or one of the Mizuno MP iron sets. I will be getting them custom fitted so either way I go it will be a big upgrade from the 15 year old set of Hogan forged irons that I am currently playing. It seems like the AP2s are a highly regarded set and have great reviews all around. I'd like to hear from any of you that have played any of the iron sets that I have mentioned. And I am especially interested in the difference of the Mizuno MP iron sets. Appreciate any feedback you can give.

Currently playing a FT-9 Tour. I love the driver, if I could just get rid of the occasional snap hook I'd really love it! :)

Sooo....I went to place my order on a set of Callaway Prototypes only to find out that they have been discontinued. Being a lefty sucks sometimes when it comes to equipment purchases. Callaway doesn't currently offer a "players" iron set with the Prototype & X-Forged iron sets no longer being offered. Anyone know if they are going to be coming out with a new line anytime soon?

Sadly, you are probably right.

I'm looking for Westwood to win this tourney. He is in a great position if Oosthuizen falters(which I expect him to do).
-
Thinking about ordering a set of Callaway Prototype Irons and I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with these irons. I've been playing a forged iron for the last ten years so I don't expect much of a feel difference from my current set. Just looking for some input before I make this purchase. Any input or opinions would be appreciated.

Three New Wedges (Your Favorites and Why)
BC24 replied to bopanic's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I have no problem with feel shots using those shafts. I use them in all of my irons so I guess I do it for a sense of consistency. There is quite a bit of a distance gap in all of my irons so I like the keep the shafts the same so that I don't get a different feel from a 7 iron or a 56 degree wedge. -
Ball Markers. What do you use?

I've been using a dime for years. I think I've had the same two dimes in my bag for over a decade. -
Three New Wedges (Your Favorites and Why)
BC24 replied to bopanic's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I bought a new 60 & 56 degree Callaway X-Series Jaws wedges with Project X Flighted shafts(6.5) this season and absolutely love them. I will probably be ordering a 52 degree in the near future to round out my set. I had been playing a Vokey 60 & 55 degree for the last 4-5 years. Just wanted to try something new and I'm glad that I did. -
Play suspended for the rest of the day due to bad weather. :(

If he could have turned that 9 into a par he wouldn't have been in such bad shape today!

Golf Pride New Decade Multi-Compound in Black/Blue on all my clubs.

I recently purchased the 60 & 56 degree Callaway JAWS wedges and I absolutely love them. I've had Vokey wedges in the past and these Callaway are every bit as good as the Vokey wedges that I've been playing. I'll most likely be ordering a 52 degree one as well, they are not cheap but very much worth it.
