  1. I think your love of Tiger is making you just as irrational as all the "Tiger haters" your so upset with. The PGA tour has been on network TV with huge galleries long before Tiger--to call that a dead sport is crazy. See the WNBA for a dead sport
  2. So you don't think he has the iron accuracy to win at Augusta...but if he does win a major you think his best chance would be a U.S. Open. Really?
  3. I didn't realize he's won that much already. I wonder if he does become an 8-9 major winner will anyone stick around to watch?
  4. reminds me how I 've never understood what is meant by the "mechanical player" vs. a "feel player". Like Faldo built his swing like a robot and Couples has no clue what he's doing but just "feels" it.
  5. I think Ian Baker Finch is a better golfer than announcer
  6. not a bad move to get that out there before a match play tourney---if he can back it up
  7. He was fun to watch in his prime. Given his popularity, I'd bet most fans probably think his playing record is much better than it really is
  8. Steve Marino and Ricky Barnes
  9. He has a handful of wins (yes, including two majors) but he also has years and years of really bad golf. Three top tens in Majors in his 20 plus year career. I'm curious if there are any other two time major winners who have missed as many cuts as him. My point is that terms like "comeback" and "return to form" seem a little strange in his case given that good golf has been such an anomaly throughout his career.
  10. 5 tour wins in probably a 25 year career doesn't sound like there was ever much of a form to return to.
  11. gotta be the most hated team in all sports--who doesn't want to see them loose
  12. you forgot about the John Daly "zero iron" he pulled out sometime in the early 90's for a U.S. Open
  13. 1 major= either beem or paul laurie a case could be made for each one 2 majors= probably Andy North or John Daly- but Cabrera has had a much better career than both of them 3 majors= seems like a strange question at this point
  14. Rich Beem-his win at the PGA is his only top 10 in a major in his career.
  15. if he's the real deal wouldn't he have won something?
  16. I would agree with all of that...well except the part about Ping clubs looking good
  17. I wouldn't put Furyk in the "great" category, I think he's been a good player for a long time but the numbers are not that impressive. I look at Vijay's 04 season with (I think) 9 wins and a major--that is basically the bulk of Furyk's career in one year by someone that's not Tiger. That would go for Couples, Love, Kite, Pavin, and probably quite a few more. I think greatness has to be multiple majors AND over 20 wins at least.
  18. Dismiss it all you want but Sergio was every bit as impressive
  19. I thought the British Open showed us all who the next big star will be....what was his name again
  20. About ten years ago it was Sergio, and I think Rory has a better chance at being the "next Sergio" than he does at being the "next Tiger"
  21. I think it was pretty clever of him to say it. People will now compare the two and maybe even call it a rivalry, not bad for a guy who at this point is nothing but hype.
  22. I don't get how people are always saying Tiger is obsessed with distance. He was probably the last tour pro to stop using a steel shafted driver a few years ago, and it's been said many times that he uses a ball with the highest spin rate on tour--neither of those equipment choices sound like a guy who just wants to outdrive everybody
  23. A few guys I would like to see win Kuchar - I think he could be a guy to win multiple majors and I love his swing Els- If he won a PGA he would only need a green jacket for the career grandslam Phil- could take number one and his 5th major Johnson, holmes, Watson - I think these guys could all be the next big time stars on tour they just need a resume
  24. without seeing many of these guys play in their prime it's impossible to really know. It's like the "who's better Jack or Tiger?" if I never saw Jack play in his prime how would I really know
  25. I agree, the British Open was boring this year--kinda reminded me of the 2000 U.S. Open
