  1. That is the craziest thing I have heard in my whole damn life. Wow. How funny/disgusting/awkward.
  2. I always get the guys that say something like "Yeah I shot a 74 out here yesterday." Then they shoot 102.
  3. Welcome to the Sand Trap, to both of you. I grew up in southwest Virginia, Lee County to be exact.
  4. http://www.deadhorselake.com/
  5. 85 (44/41) Rarity Pointe.
  6. Personally I don't believe you should quit. I played a round with an 89 year old man once, when I had first started playing, and he told me something I will never forget: There are two things in life that are fun even if you're not worth a damn at it: golf and sex.
  7. This always makes me feel a little better about my game.
  8. I have the same problem. The humidity in TN in summer is stifling, and it just draws the sweat out of you. I played a few rounds in Charleston, SC last week and it was even worse. My hat had absolutely no dry areas at all, and felt like it weighed 15 lbs. Just gotta keep fluids handy I suppose. Side note: Gonna try a full brim (think: Gilligan) hat when I go out today. In SC, I wore a baseball cap to protect my shaved head from the sun. The one area it doesn't protect? Ears. The tops of my ears were so sunburned I could feel my heartbeat in them.
  9. Thanks for the input. I played 1 round at the Muni, 2 at Shadowmoss Plantation, and 2 at Dunes West. I tried to get a time at Stono Ferry, but they couldn't fit us in as our schedule allowed. Those are some great golf courses.
  10. Oh, and there's an old man, a golf club and a pond too. At first I just saw the babe in the atlasphere ball.
  11. Leaves laying all over the course in the fall. Sad when it takes 5 minutes to find your ball in the middle of the fairway.

    Broke 80 with a 74

    Nice work.
  13. Usually somewhere around 3-5 just totally wasted shots for me a round. Total chip shot chunkage is usually the culprit.
  14. At Shadowmoss Plantation # 13: +/- 155 out, hit a 6 iron from the left of the fairway, landed and stuck within 6 in. of the cup. Ended up with a birdie. Normally I would use a 7 from that distance, but the conditions were really soggy. Worked out well.
  15. I have a Callaway FT-IQ and I absolutely love it. My drives are much straighter and a little longer. The sound has taken some getting used to, but I don't care if it sounds like Gilbert Gottfried when I swing, as long as it helps my game.
  16. 88 @ Dunes West (45/43).
  17. Knoxville here.
  18. 90 (46/44) Shadowmoss Plantation (on vacation) Standing water everywhere. Greens were surprisingly fast despite all the recent rain, but I was happy with my putting. However, my driver and I are not currently on speaking terms.
  19. Softer grip = higher loft.
  20. Well said.
  21. played 36: 91 (46/45) and 88 (44/44) on vacation at Charleston Municipal. Very happy with my scores with all things considered: it poured the rain for 3 holes, created super marshy/swampy conditions, and the greens had just been aerated.
  22. I've always heard downtown Nashville called Gotham City because of the Batman building. I think that's what everyone in East TN calls it, I just assumed everyone called it that.
  23. I play better at my home course as well. However, playing at other courses presents me with different challenges, and I have learned how to make adjustments to my game. For example: my home course has extremely wide fairways except for two holes, and those two holes were nightmares for me. Another local course has all narrow fairways, and after I played that course a few times, I found that I could play much better on those two holes. Might not be the answer you were looking for, but hope it helps. BTW: I dig that Gotham City avatar.
