  1. I would reccomend getting one tv for movies and one for your son. You can pick up a 32" LCD for pretty short money these days. I have found that it is tough to play certain games on the big boys - I have a 37" LCD and 50" plasma, and I rely on the LCD exclusively for Call of Duty. With a TV above a certain size, you tend to get "tunnel vision" on the center of the TV.
  2. Nike Machspeeds maybe? I paid 500 new for my set, slightly used ones can be found on ebay for high 300s low 400s. They are extremely forgiving and ballflight is long with a pretty soft landing. I have stuck a lot more greens since switching from Cleveland TA5s.
  3. How fast I play...on an open course, I'll go through 9 in an hour and 15 minutes walking,
  4. There is an indoor place by my house called "Fore Season Golf" in Portland, Maine. I have not played there yet personally, but they've got pretty much the exact business you're looking for - indoor golf, simulator driving range, and food. If you call them up and ask how the putting works, I'm sure they'll fill you in.
  5. Best distance/trajectory for me was the Nike Machspeed. Best feel was the Ping Rapture.
  6. I hit the G15, i15, and a couple other hybrids on a launch monitor last week. The i15 was a lot less consistent than the G15 for me - on great hits, it flew about 5yds farther, but on bad mishits, it left the fairway. I think my longest hit with a G15 20* was about 150 and ~155 for i15. I preferred the Rapture as far as Pings go, it had a nice "click" on solid shots and was a bit more forgiving than either the G15 or I15. Oddly enough, the club I ended up going home with was the ugly duckling of the bunch. I absolutely crushed the Nike Machspeed - longest hit with it was about 12 yards longer than any of the competition. It sure is about the ugliest thing ever put on the end of a stick, though. If you want to keep an all-ping bag, I would reccomend the Rapture.
  7. Personally, I always seem to hit my shots fat if I hinge early. I usually hinge right before the top of the backswing, when I time it right it feels like the club "floats" at the transition and I hit my shots 15-20% futher than with an early hinge. However, I'm far from a swing guru, so it might just be a case of different strokes for different folks.
  8. Do both! I am from the Northeast and going to school in Florida was the best decision I ever made. It was a much better fit for me culturally, academically it was a little less pressure, and I pretty much had the time of my life while graduating with honors. I went to Florida Atlantic which is basically a safety school, but there are plenty of world-class universities down south (Duke, Miami, UF, etc).
  9. I just picked out the 5-10 putters that I thought I would hit the best (based on looks), and putted 5 balls each from about 10 feet or so. I found the winner easily - 3 balls holed compared to at most 1 for the other putters.
  10. About 160 with my 4H/4i... I lack the confidence to really go at a green with a 3 or 5 wood, I tend to shank those two off the grass if I am really pushing it distance-wise.
  11. And that's not the end all of everything - my relationship with my father improved significantly after college. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, for sure.
  12. I like to hit a 4H out of rough - the key for me is to treat it like a sand trap and swing without grounding my club. If you address the ball and try to drag it backwards through the rough, it'll wreck your swing.
  13. 58 on 9....rough day, I shot a 51 on the same course Monday, but today I couldn't get a consistent connection on my shots, felt like a major hacker.
  14. Hit a 3-wood, thought it rolled into the water. Walked up and it was hung up in a bush just over the water. Took the one stroke for an unplayable lie, hit an 8-iron over the water, 8 foot putt for par. Pretty unbelievable for me, usually if I hit a bad drive I'm at double bogey or worse.
  15. I don't have a problem with it. It's my first year of serious golf, so I usually hit from the whites and my buddies hit blues. If it's a casual round, I just let them tee off first, without regards to honors.
  16. I got a Callaway Warbird in green at BJ's wholesale club for 62 bucks....same bag in grey was 80ish at Sam's Club.
  17. I have the same problem. What has helped has been keeping a little more weight on my front foot and shortening my swing a hair. This has produced a bit of a distance gap between my 7i and 8, but I hit the high numbers straighter.
  18. Mostly bad slices that bounce off a tree right into the middle of the fairway, once in a while when going at a pin I'll gauge the distance right but hit a shot that's real pure and 15-20 yards longer than usual and fly the green.
  19. The course I usually play is 35 with a cart, 25 walking and it's pretty well kept, nice layout. The cheap course a little ways away is $12 for all you can play, they only have 9 holes though.
  20. What flex do you have on your irons? I hit a stiff driver just fine but I had to back my hybrid down to a regular to hit smoothly off the grass.
  21. You might be able to file a claim with UPS, but it'll take a lot longer than a week to get your money. My best bet is that the seller is going to take it back and then go after UPS for the money - been there, done that, it's not a fun process. Best to ask him to pay for expedited shipping back and an immediate replacement.
  22. Take a look at the Nike Machspeed irons - I am a pretty high handicapper and I hit the G15, Rapture V2, Machspeed and Cleveland HB3 on a launch monitor. Nikes had the best overall distance and 2nd best dispersion after the Raptures which were a couple hundred bucks more. The clubfaces are super hot and shots seem to just fly off of them, even with mis-hits. Plus, they were on sale for 499.99 for 4-PW, SW at my local golf shop.
  23. I would look into dropping the 3 wood for a 1 hybrid (15-16 degree). I recently made that change and I find the 1H to be easier to hit straight off both the fairway and tees.
  24. Craigslist is a great place to look - I got a Nike sumo 4 hybrid and a Callaway FT-I 3 wood together for 70 bucks. I buy pretty much all my clubs off Craigslist/Ebay/forums, and it's worked out well for me so far.
