  1. Hmm, time to get a new set of wedges! ** Crap, just noticed there are no wedges on the website. I wonder if they are just out, or not doing them anymore? I think I'll send an email to Jesse!
  2. http://www.cobragolf.com/press-releases/cobra-launches-amp-cell-drivers.-one-driver.-six-settings.-four-fresh-color I absolutely love my AMP driver, so I'm not in any hurry to replace it. But I definitely want to give the Cell a swing when they come out. Might be on my list for a couple years down the road when the prices come down. For a really good review with great pics, Google "My Golf Spy First Look 2013 Cobra Amp Cell Driver". :
  3. Rams avator AND a (team?) roper? Why does it seem possible I might you?!
  4. For me it's 170-175..... sometimes shorter, sometimes longer. But when this is distance I'm looking at, that's the club I'm pulling.
  5. Trade in values generally stink.... my brand new Callaway Razr X Black driver that is sitting in the corner is only worth $48.88 in trade!! BUT... looking at eBay, he could probably easily get $200 for them there, or even Craigslist.
  6. ^^ Truth! ^^ BUT.... if you are brand new and you suck, your money would probably be better spent on QUALITY lesson so you suck less, then you can look at blowing your wad on a new set of clubs. New clubs won't make you suck less, you'll just look better at sucking!
  7. This little move (along with the new driver) has really changed my game probably more than any other one thing! Not only am I hitting driver MUCH farther, but I am in the fairway A LOT more. This mean shorter approach shots, and more greens hit. And twice now I have been on a couple par 5's in two, which I have never done before!
  8. If that was the case, at impact the face was inline with the path. Draw = club face closed to path. Push = club face square to path. The ball will generally start in the direction the face is pointing, and curve away from (opposite of) the path.
  9. Bought a pair of FJ WinterSof gloves last night. They are really comfy, and I was able to hit some irons shots with them before I decided to buy them. I thought it would be really odd to swing with two gloves on, but not at all. As an added bonus, they make really nice driving gloves!
  10. Your numbers aren't far off from mine either, except you hit driver a little longer. I'm still getting use to my new driver, but I'm getting it out around 240-245 total, although I did hit 2 that were just over 260 on Wednesday (either hit it just perfect, or got a LOT of roll!). My 4 iron distance is the same as yours, 7 iron is my 150 club, and PW is the 120 club. I'm an easy swinger, I don't really go after the ball hard. I just try to make a nice smooth swing that is fluid. I also don't get too wrapped up with how far I hit my X iron compared to the other guys X iron. As long as I know what my distances are, and that I am consistent with those distances, I just play my game. I also don't necessarily hit each shot with the idea of hitting it as far as I can, but I try to plan each one. Like one particular par 5 at a local course...... I KNOW that I cannot be on it in two, and that I will (should!) be on the green with my third shot, so I will try to set up that third shot to be about 100-110 as that is my most comfortable shot. I'm comfortable with my distances. The putter.... not so much! Oh, one other thing to consider besides just swing mechanics is the specs of your irons to his. Depending on what he plays, the specs for his PW might be the same as or close to your 9 iron, or even 8 iron. The loft, length, total weight, head design, etc are all going to be a factor.
  11. I walk/push a lot, and quite often get paired up with someone who is driving. I almost always get the "roll eyes" when they think the have to wait for me, but I've never had any problems keeping up.
  12. Hmmm, might want to go see your doc!
  13. Seems everyone has their own way of reading the greens. What I've been working on is a routine of setting up to the ball and making the stroke. Once I feel I have my aiming point picked out, I pick a spot about 1' to 2' in front of the ball that is on the aiming line to my aim spot. Then when I set up to the ball, I use Martin Chuck's 8 second drill, or a cadence of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7,8: Where 7 is the backstroke and 8 is the moment of impact: * Two practice strokes (7 and 8, 7 and 8) to get a feel for the stroke length while looking down my aiming line. * Then step up to the ball, line up my putter with my "spot" * 1 - look at aiming point * 2 - look at the ball * 3 - look at aiming point * 4 - look back at the ball * 5 - look at the ball * 6 - look at the ball * 7 - backstroke * 8 - impact
  14. It typically reacts by shooting it across the front of the range line a la "Tin Cup" style! With that face being so small, the margin for error is very small. It's easy to see what could happen if you miss this small little face: Pro model X7 iron: Regular Pro model 7 iron:
  15. Maltby KE4 U30 irons.
  16. Score keep dropping for me! My last rounds were 40, 45, 42, and 85 (40 front 9, 45 back 9). And this past Sunday shot my first 39!
  17. My old Maltby driver, fairways and hybrids with adjustable weights had o-rings on the weights.
  18. This thread is over 3 years old, and the OP hasn't posted on this forum in at least 3 years either. I'm sure he doesn't care anymore. BTW Charles, welcome to the forum.
  19. ^^^ This! I Started playing this game thinking Callaway was the only one for me, especially for the driver, and ended up with a bag full of fitted Callaway clubs. Now I have a hodgepodge of a bag because they just happen to be THE clubs that work best for me. I never thought I would ever have a Cobra club in my bag, but the AMP driver has just totally blown me away!
  20. Play golf. Although, we do need to remember to bring the Phillips screwdriver along. It's pretty handy to poke a hole in the ground to put the tee in.
  21. The wrench itself will exert 40 in/lb of torque to the fastener. You asked "how will I know when it's tight enough" and "how much force do I use". The most common statement made by someone who is unfamiliar with the operation of a torque wrench is "it feels like I'm using too much force, and I'm afraid the bolt will break". So, most will not hear/feel the click and will think that they are using too much force, and are not willing to keep tightening the fastener. When in reality they just need to turn the wrench until it gives them the physical and audible signal that the proper pre-determined torque spec had been reached. Listen at about 0:58 -
  22. If it feels like you are exerting too much force to make it click, exert a little more force until it clicks.
  23. Just FYI...... If it stock (hasn't been cut or lengthened), and it's the Diablo Edge (I'm guessing it's this one since you say they don't make it anymore), then it's 45.5".
  24. For as much as I seem to bag on TMaG, I do like these. But it's going to be many years before I shell out that kind of cash on a set of irons.
