March Madness Baby!

25 posts in this topic

I don't really follow college B-ball during the regular season, but I love March Madness. The effort that the kids put in (like actually playing defense) and the drama are unmatched. So, the time is approaching. Post your predictions here:

Winner

Final 4

Sleepers/Dark Horses

Overrated/Epic Fails

And, any other predictions/ideas/observations. I need to get some direction for my brackets!

I think there is a lot of parody this year in collage basketball. I dont see any one team thats great. Tough to say who at this point will be in it. If you want some upset picks teams out of THE VALLEY could make some noise. The MVC Is the 8th rated conference in CBB. Wichita State and Creighton are very good teams. I dont follow alot of other conferences. If Arkansas gets in I think they are a tough out. Indiana Michigan and Miami look good.

I'm a Michigan Wolverine and believe we have a great team. I believe the winner of the Indiana /Michigan state game will make a deep run in the tournament. don't count out Wisconsin or Ohio state.

As a buckeye fan I hope the big 10 does well in the tourney. The only problem I see is that the big ten is so deep, indiana, Michigan, Ohio state, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Illinois, are all solid teams. But what I see is they beat each other up in the conference tournament and are worn out come the ncaa tourney.

I am a huge UK fan.  Have been my entire life.  Lots of bad years till Cal arrived.  This year is tough.  But I expect this team to find something deep down and make the NCAA tournament.  Then I just hope for a magical deep run.

Other than UK, I don't care about anything else.  I love to see either Miami, Michigan, or gonzaga matched up in the championship game.

A tough loss this weekend for the Crimson Tide. They are already projected to be on the 'Next 4 Out', and then really needed to win against LSU on the road. It'll be interested to see how we rebound against Auburn this weekend, and then the Gators this weekend on ESPN.

Currently on is the Alabama - Auburn game. A definite must win if Alabama are to get in the tournament. Auburn are woeful and we've already lost to them once. A second loss would put our NIT hopes in doubt.

I still think Duke will win it this year. Avoiding all serious injuries, they are the best team in basketball.

I'm a B1G guy.  Anyone else believe Cowherd when he says all teams except IU will be out within 2 or 3 games?

Maybe, come Tourney time anyone can be beat by anyone. Like I stated above the Big Ten schedule is tough, like there are no easy wins in the conference. So these teams seem wore out come the tournament. But I can easily see IU, and it pains me to say but UM (yes I hope the buckeyes demolish them in the B1G tourney), and you can never count MSU out come tourney, idk if Izzo puts something in the water but his teams are always ready.

Oh, Jspangler.  You and I are going to have fun come November with you being an Ohio fan and all.  Grew up in MI so naturally I'm a UM fan.  You won't get any smack from me on the hardwoods though, even though UM is doing well I'm still not a big bball fan.  Good luck in the B1G tourney though.

Thats funny, I was born and raised in Ohio, but lived in Ann Arbor for about 6 years and now live in grand rapids. Now idk how much fun you will be having in November, but yes watching OSU whoop on Michigan is always fun for me.

I'm looking forward to the rivalry between Hoke and Meyer once they both get their systems up and running.  I think it will be good for "The Game".  I'll leave it at that since this is the March Madness thread.

For the good of the rivalry I hope they are both competitive. Michigan should be a better team with Denard not QBing, but the only problem I see is, I just don't think Brady Hoke is the guy that will take UM back to national dominance again. I just can't see him winning a National Championship in the next 10 years, and I doubt Michigan keeps around longer than that if he hasn't.

    • What'd You Shoot Today?
76 today 36 on the front 40 on the back I started off hitting the ball better than I ever had. I didn't miss a fairway until somewhere on the back 9 and the only thing that kept me from going low was not being able to convert on key birdie opportunities. Had a real good look at shooting under par but I let my swing get a little quick on the final holes as I played the closing three at +4. Despite a couple errant tee shots and a 4 -putt (yes, a 4-putt...), this was a pretty clean round for me. I feel good going into a 4 day break.
    • The Tiger Woods/PED Thread
Tiger never got "so big." Have you seen the dude in person? He was not an imposing figure. This is a myth. I get that he can look pretty stacked on TV, but he's not: his shirts were tight, and he was fit, but he wasn't "so big." Like most men, he filled out from the time he was 20 until he was 26, 27…
    • The Tiger Woods/PED Thread
Wrong again! I loved Tiger when he was out there dominating the game. He was great for golf, bringing new fans and attention to the sport. I attended the WGC Bridgestone in Akron when Tiger was in his ascendancy. I tried to follow him, but it was impossible! He had to be dragging 10,000 people around the course! But I, like many others, began to wonder when Tiger got so big. Remember when he first came on tour? A skinny string bean with big, thick glasses. When he showed up at Stanford it was his teammate, Notah Begay, who tagged him with the nickname "Urkel"! Even though Woods and Begay became friends, I don't think Tiger liked "Urkel" very much. And it's been reported that Tiger didn't like the idea of golfers not being considered "real" athletes either. So, if Tiger was juicing he never got caught. Neither did Bonds, Sosa or McGwire. There is no proof, but suspicions remain. It's kind of sad to see Tiger in his current state, trying to claw his way back to the tour. No doubt he has enough money to last the rest of his and his kid's lives, but you don't get to where he was unless you are competitive. I think that might be what Tiger misses the most. I just remembered that he named his yacht "Privacy" because, at the time, that is what he craved. Well, he has plenty of it now. Wonder how that's sitting with him?

      Black Mass
The story about the infamous crime lord Whitey Bulger. It starred Johnny Depp as Whitey Bulger. Benedict Cumberbatch played his brother, and US Senator Billy Bulger. This was an enthralling movie to watch. I give it a tap in Birdie. I give Johnny Depp an birdie performance. He was totally convincing playing Whitey Bulger.  Kung Fury
This is a little gem I found when I was hanging out with my friends just skimming through Netflix. This is a movie that was crowd funded through kickstarter. It has that cheesy 80's action movie coupled with cheesy kung-fu movie feel to it. It just works brilliantly to give you an over the top 30 minutes of enjoyment. I give it an birdie for outstanding exaggerated fun and enjoyment.

Watching Steph make clutch 3s from mid court routinely must be like watching Spieth putt those 15-20 footers knowly there always a chance goes in no matter how tough the green is
