I have been playing about 7 years and average around 235 -240 carry with my driver.  I normally try to play from tees that range from 6200 to 6400 yards. Last weekend I was playing my local course as a single and was paired up with two guys playing from the golds at around 7100 yards. I started from the whites but after a while I wanted to "prove" I could hang with them and went back where they were hitting from. To their credit they were fine with me playing from a different set of tees. I was absolutely miserable hitting 5 woods into most of the par fours and needless to say shot my worse score in a long time and it was physically and mentally exhausting. The other guys actually shot about the same as I and should have been playing from a shorter set of tees also LOL.

I feel you on that. I have played only a few holes from back tees, ever. And I had no business even trying it with my length and skill level. Also average about 230-240 off the tee. Those holes are ALWAYS bad for me. The 20-40 extra yards really do make a difference in how a hole plays.

One day....!

I'm either getting lazier or smarter myself. I've played from one up from the tips most of the time this year when I played a longer course, and even moved up another set a couple of times. Sure was more relaxing up there.
