Sports Car trunks big enough for golf clubs

I'm looking for a small, fuel efficient car with some panache, and two-seat roadsters fit the bill, e.g., BMW Z3 Z4, Mazda Miata, Honda S2000, Mini Cooper, Nissan 350Z, etc...

Please reply if you own one or know someone who owns one and whether their golf clubs fit in the trunk (mandatory requirement)

I had a 2002 honda s2000. my clubs fit and i have a ping bag. I would usually have to take my driver out though.

You should have not problem, but you can only fit clubs w/ nothing else.

I had a 350Z and I was able to get my golf bag in there. Now, i will say this, since it's a hatchback, if you go with the Z, you'll hear the clanks of the clubs hitting eachother because its open back there. You'll have a blast in the car, thats a promise. I think you should consider the G35/G37 coupe. That fits with no problem (and its pretty much a 2 seater cuz no one ever fits in the back of that thing....who are we kidding)...

my dad had a 2004 corvette z06 and a ping staff bag just made it....thats one and my 08 mustang gt fits 2 golf bags

BMW 1 series... they have a full size trunk... and dont look as gay as those other cars.

My 350Z has been to many many rounds in the 5.5 years I've had it. Wroks great. It can squeeze two bags in there, but thats tight. One bag is not problem. I take my driver out and put it in the deeper part to make getting the bag in and out easier.

Porsche Boxsters have two trucks. The back holds the clubs and the front has enough room for a weekend gettaway. The engine is in the middle.

I've been down the sportscar road and frankly, for a golfer, it's not great. Cramming your bags and stuff is just a pain not to mention the potential for damage.

Try this on for size: Mini-van. Don't laugh! If you put down the rear seats you have comfortable room for four and scads of room for all your golf equipment and luggage. Can you say ROAD TRIP? Have the van modded. Lowered about 3 or 4 inches with some dub wheels. It would be truly phat.

You're still laughing at me. Actually Mercedes makes the R-class. Check it out.

The guy I play w/ has an S2000. We fit 2 bags in his trunk if we remove the woods from the second bag. Of course these are fairly small carry bags...

I second the vote for the BMW 135i. If I hadn't bought my current car (A3 3.2) last year I'd be getting one of those in a heart beat.

Thanks for the replies..glad to hear the car manufacturers make them large enough to fit golf clubs. My primary limitations are MPG (must be 25mpg, no Corvette) and cost, I'm looking at used (no BMW 1-series) to keep the price down (no Boxster).

My 07 Mustang has a huge trunk. I can fit 2 golf bags easily. In fact it acts as my golf locker most of the time right now it has my clubs, 4 pairs of shoes, 3 dozen balls, and some extra golf towels.

Well, if you never play golf with anyone or travel anywhere to play golf, drive whatever you please! You can let the clubs ride in the passenger seat. Sportscar and practical don't fit in the same sentence. I just know that "cramming" stuff in your trunk is a potential for damage. Putting stuff in different parts of your car is a pain. A true golf fanatic might want to do a rethink on his mode of transportation. There are a lot of nice cars that would still be "styling" and have road performance and still fit your equipment. BMW, Acura, etc. Take a look!

Actually, the vette is quite fuel efficient (if you stay out of the gas), thanks to good aero, tall 6th gear, and very light weight due to its lack of creature comforts and compact OHV engine design. 08 vette gets 16/26 compared to s2000 and 350z each at 18/25, and has a 200 hp advantage on the honda and 125 on the nissan, and the torque numbers are even more one-sided.

Performance wise it will absolutely blow the doors off any of the cars that have been mentioned, but it won't be as comfortable because its built to go fast. Its also on the high end of prices but it will probably very reliable because its just a light car with a small block chevy.
