What did you do to find your perfect golf swing? ok, lets assume its close to perfect as it will get and you feel that this swing will last you forever, in another words you can play with this swing into your senior years.

I discovered mine recently about a week ago when I was practicing my chipping and found an easy take away down the line lifting the club off the ground naturally with a one piece take away, meaning not breaking my wrist, and after the club was parallel with the ground I would start to break my wrist and take it up to a full turn of my shoulder and my hip and simply release or uncoil my hips and shoulder for a solid ball contact motion. This swing motion has given my more confidence that ever, so I am excited to play or hit balls to refine this swing.

Whats your eureka golf swing moment? Thanks in advance for your replies.

I definetly wouldnt call my swing, "perfect".
Mine just comes from practice and trial and error. Ive gone on some golf websites where they had online lessons and read some golf magazines, but for the most part Im self-taught.

Best thing that ever help me was the feet together drill. Helped me get a great feel for swinging the golf club and how my body turns.

It has come pretty naturally, but with some adjustments through various lessons. There is always room for improvement though.

Momentus weighted clubs and the swing glove helped me a ton. I am not kidding I went from not being able to hit my driver at all to absolutely crushing the ball.

The more you use these two in combo the better your swing will get and you will stay on plane. The worse part of my game as I was learning was being consistent with the driver. Now I have it down and I am telling no lie I constantly crush the ball 300+ yards and I am a medium build guy 5'9 170.

Other things that helped my swing was making sure I rotated properly and kept my right elbow tucked in. I would put a towel underneath my right arm pit and if it fell out I knew I was doing something wrong. Slow back and rotate through the ball and you will drive it like a pro.

I have found it and lost it so many times over the last 25+ years that I don't have the space (and the internet still has plenty of room left on it) to list them all!

I started using the instruction is a small e-book titled β€œThe Golf Swing and It’s Master Key Explained” by Noel Thomas.

OK, this is only my second post here, but be assured that I am not a promoter.

I skim through several golf instruction forums as I have time, so I had seen references to this instruction. I had read the copy on the website, and I had seen it listed for sale on eBay. I figured it was just another rip-off.

Then I found a 9 page thread on it in another forum that was mostly positive with some of the posts being very enthusiastic. From reading the posts in that thread, it seemed to work very easily for those who were already using some form of left side control. For those using right side control, it took more time and practice to change over.

I was using total left side control, with my left hip as my downswing key, but that barely kept me in the 80s. I have been buying instruction for many years, so I spent another $6.00 with a money back guarantee.

For me, it works exactly as the ad says. Now if I could learn to putt better, I might be good at this game.

I found the "8 Step Swing" by Jim McLean to be the best thing for avoiding the 'death moves' in the swing.

http://www.jimmclean.com/swing-step1.html

To help me with reinforcing that swing, I use the hinged iron and hinged driver. I am hitting very short this season but it is going straight for a majority of shots (not necessarily on the fairway).

My goal is to get a little more rotation, without killing my lower back, to get more distance.

Regarding chipping, it was holding the club like I hold my putter and using a putting stroke.

Regarding lobs and pitch shots, it was about shoulder rotation, getting less wristy, keeping the club face open through impact and not shifting my weight.

My putting is what keeps my scores sky high, right now.

I have been head-faked many times thinking I had arrived at the end of the road only to discover a blind alley.

I hope that my latest forey has not been in vain but I now know better than to declare a premature victory.

I need a more specific question.
To which time I found my perfect swing are you referring?

My swing is far from perfect, it actually went from very ugly to somewhat reliable. The key for me was understanding that to hit the ball further you don't swing as hard. That in turn helped me get a good rhythm and fully transfer my weight forward and down into the ball on the downswing instead of lifting up like I was trying to hit a home run. Also watching the instructional videos on golf.com helped me a lot especially the one about ball flight mechanics which greatly helped me figure out my slice and hook issues.

I doubt i would be able to use the swing i have now in my senior years. I base my swing on high flexability, so i doubt my body would be to happy if i swing like this when i'm like 60 or something :p I like how my swing is now though, single digit handicap is only days away
- I've found my swing through practice, and then a bit more practice .. and watching the pro's :p

This is my swing:

For me it was several years ago. I was on the range hitting balls and not really working on anything mechanically, and just wondering what I could do to get rid of this wicked slice. I was probably a 20 to 25 handicap at the time. I just stood there for a second and thought about how to correct my over-the-top swing path. I took the club back slowly and thought that if I could get it moving forward on that same path then I would be able to hit the ball much straighter. It was hard to do and I had to work a few half swings to groove it. Then I took a full swing and the ball went absolutely straight with a slight draw at the end. I just looked at that ball in amazement. That was the first time that I was able to hit a draw. I finished off that bucket of balls and was so excited that I went and got another large bucket just to commit the move into muscle memory. I know that it is simple, but this is the one swing thought that I have. With my right eye I watch the clubhead go straight back and then I just bring it straight forward. This thought has kept me more in the fairway and light rough instead of losing balls, and has also lowered my handicap.

it took me a looong time ... I started playing at age 13, summer before my freshman year of high school. I then decided to join the golf team that fall, they were taking everybody.

I took lessons, went to summer camps, worked hard at it every day but could never find a swing I liked, I was always fiddling and fussing with it and didn't know what to expect from one day to the next.

Still the same, I finished my senior year averaging 41 for 9 holes. Decided in college to try out.

I made the team in college, but just barely and didn't play my freshman year. My sophomore year .. things clicked .. I was consistent, shooting mid to upper 70's most of the time, feeling good about my swing.

That was now about 12 years ago .. since then my swing has at least felt good and I knew I could hit solid shots .. I've tweaked it here and there, but that sophomore year of college was when things finally "clicked" knowing that this was mainly the swing I was going to stick with.
