Companies you'll never buy clubs from

I was just thinking . . . .

Do you have something against a certain brand as to you will not buy a club - no matter what from that company?

1.) Wilson. I don't really know why - I think of Wilson and I think of WOOD woods, old stuff, ya know?
2.) PING. Alot of disagree-rs here but I just don't like any of their clubs. I tried the Karsten Anser putter - didn't like it. That and I hate the way they all look.

So - do you have any brands that you WILL NOT buy from in terms of clubs-wise?

I'd buy from any company as long as the quality, looks, and performance met my requirements.

I would never say never.

If somebody makes a club that I hit well, I'll consider putting it in my bag.

Having said that, I've never hit a TaylorMade that I liked. I've gone to demo days several times stoked to hit the newest TM club [insert joke re: frequency of TM new releases here], whether it be iron or wood. Every single time, I've walked away disappointed.

Oddly, PING irons are exactly the opposite. I thought they were ugly and didn't give them a second thought. Hit them at a demo day as an afterthought. Since then, I've liked them all (to varying degrees). Plus, as a bonus, they are a great company.

In reply to the original question, I wouldn't discount any company. Never really thought about it though.

I wouldn't buy Nike, Adams or Nickent. I don't know why, they just seem gimmicky and use too many bright colors on their stuff.

Adams does use colors, but they did bring us the hybrids so without them many would not have this wonderful tool. Just like Nike with the square driver. As to the OP topic. I cant imagine limiting myself at all. If it is something that I hit well, and is in my price range, then I dont care who makes it. As you can see by my bag, Im not brand loyal at all.

i'll buy from anyone as long as it works for me.
just look at my bag...i'm not brand loyal by any means. i love mizuno irons...that's my preference...but when it's time to go to the next step (which is hopefully a true blade), then i'm gonna try every iron to see which one i hit the best

I won't buy anything from Nike period.
Not now, not ever.

It's about their labor practices.

I dont like to say, "never". Who knows, some company that you would have never even considered might start making clubs that you really, really like.
Personally, I prefer to buy from American-owned companies but if Titleist, Callaway and Ping all either went under or were bought out and were no longer American-owned, its not as if Im going to quit playing golf.

I never liked Ping because the irons were ugly... but now I have a Ping putter in my bag.

I never liked Adams because they pushed for these integrated sets and were for old men... but I play the Idea Pro irons because they were the best looking and feeling irons on the market last year (in my eyes), even though I was reluctant to try them.

Only loyalty I have ever had is to Cleveland wedges... but I find myself wondering what a Scratch wedge or the Callaways feel like.

I will always buy whatever works BEST and is visually pleasing to ME... unless of course the company says they plan to use the profits to support terrorists or testing clubs by hitting puppies or some other crazy nonsense.

I personally dont consider brands like ram and wilson real brands so they are automatically crossed off.

But in all serious I cant ever see myself buying anything from Taylormade or Callaway. Taylormade because thats what all of my wife's equipment is and Callaway because 90% of the people that I have played with that have Callaway clubs annoy me.

Right now I am mostly Nike but I see a Titleist shift coming ( the irons will be quite awhile before I switch) and I see myself sticking with Nike hybrids.

Wilson isn't a real brand? Wilson staffs have been around forever and many consider them fabulous clubs. Ram, I can see that, but Wilson really?

    • I get kidney stones. So 100 oz of water every day. Some nights I drink 32oz between midnight and 6 Am. Which means I dont sleep much.
    • 46 (9 over) Short game and putts were awful!
    • 46+40 for an 86. I just need to play 9 holes on the range before each round. 🤣🤣🤣
    • I don’t measure my intake either. I generally have a black coffee, a bottle of soda, some sweet tea at home, and anything in between is water. An ice cold bottle of water is one of my favorite things. It feels like an immediate refresher for my body. I’ll admit that I need to drink a little more though.
    • For such a nice membership, there have been some bad incidents in the past few years.  We had someone voted out a couple of years ago over something he did and he harassed the board members for three months until he moved out of the area.   Generally they’ve tried to do things like tournament handicaps and identify certain people who they know should be lower and adjust it somehow.  I can understand not wanting to go thru something like the guy who was voted out again i emailed the pro who forwarded it to the handicap committee.  They are going to see what can be done.  I walked someone thru what happened and they are going to nudge him to post the score from the match and see what he does.  Since he didn’t put anything in the electronic scoring past 13, based on how he played 14 and 15 plus having to take bogey on 16-18 for after he left, he should post 83.  We’ll see if it’s even higher,   Since he was really even thru 13, then doubled 14 and parred 15 my guess is he really shot 75 being generous and giving him 2 pars and a bogey on the three holes he didn’t play.    i shot 88, getting 16 shots for my course handicap which is net even and I lost on 13.  We do brackets where handicaps should be within 4-5 of each other.  Most matches only have 1-2 shots as a difference between players  neither of us posted the score yet.  There was something in the match play rules about whether or not to post your score.  I couldn’t remember if we were supposed to or not.  I don’t think he was going to post that, because even with his inflated score it would be the lowest score in his recent 20. Lucky I didn’t because they want to see what he does post and they don’t want me posting so he can try to calibrate his score.
