Did anyone happen to see the commercial on the Golf Channel for John Daly's new reality show The Daly Planet?! Finally a reality show I can watch. Move over Natalie Gulbis here comes some real entertainment.

I'm looking forward to it more than I was to Natalie's show. The only reason I had to look forward to Natalie's show was to see how badly Ben R played golf, and that isn't gonna happen.

Yesterday on the cable on screen guide it said 8:00 to 8:30 The Daly Planet, and 8:30 to 9:00 The Natalie Gulbis show. So 8:00 comes and it is Natalies show, bummer, but I thought perhaps they simply mixed them up. 8:30... Another Natalie Gulbis show :/

January 18 or so. Months ago it said the Natalie Gulbis show was on.

The Golf Channel pisses me off because they don't set up their shows properly. I set a Season Pass for "The Grey Goose 19th Hole," for example, and I wake up only to find it recorded 10 episodes because they didn't tag all but the first one as "Repeat." TGC sucks as far as keeping their programming schedule up to date with useful information.

Saw a commerical for Daly Planet while I was watching Tiger's Prey (another goood show which is a 3 part series) and was cracking up. The commerical shows Daly pulling out a cig while walking the course and he says, "You know you have been out on the course a very long time if you gone through two packs of smokes." He then puts the cig in his mouth and tries to light it. After 3 or 4 tries he says, "You know you have been out on the course a very long time when your lighter won't even work."

I'm looking forward to this show.

How about the commercial last night during the big break. John Daly on practice rounds......"Practice rounds suck!"

"This water tastes like sh*t".

I can't wait to watch this. There should be a drinking game that coincides with this. Like each time he lights a cig or takes a drink of diet coke you have to take a shot.

And if you can avoid blacking out before John makes his first disparaging remark about one of his ex-wives, you win!

I have heard they set their start times at odd minutes to screw up Tivo. True?

John Daly's show is going to be a winner for sure.
My favorite part of TGC is "Playing with the Pros." I'm watching Jim Furyk right now. One of my favorite players. Any pro talking about how they think, practice, pre-shot routine is only good for me...

In the case of The Golf Channel, no, it has nothing to do with that.

John Daly's show is going to be a winner for sure.

I wish they had some new ones. I haven't seen a new one of those in a year or so.

Tivo recently announced that they will catch starts/stops that are a few minutes off and if you have something else recording before or after then it will use the priority list you have set up in your season passes.

Yeah, but most stations don't do that anymore, and TGC never really did it to screw up DVRs. They did it because they put something like "Playing Lessons" in the middle of a two-hour "Your Game Night" so the start time was like 8:43 or whatever. Not just to screw up your TiVo.

What I'm talking about is that they don't use the "Repeat" flag or put descriptive text in so the TiVo records all 15 episodes of the same "Grey Goose 19th Hole" each week.

    • It’s simple. Hook it onto the tee box of the adjacent hole. Get a GIR with your approach. Birdie hole. #5 Hook it to the adjacent fairway Hit green with next shot. Birdie hole. I call it the Bill Method.
    • I’ll have to pay attention more attention to the area when I’m there. I know the area to the left of the bunkers off the tee is fescue/native vegetation but I can’t remember what’s around the tee boxes. Something to consider still is that you can’t see the green from the tee. You can’t even see all three bunkers IIRC. So I could have a line on the drive but still not know where it ends up. I think I’d be a lot more comfortable going with driver if I played here more regularly and had a log in my head of where shots tend to end up like I do at the other county courses. I have never hit driver on this hole off the blue tees. I have done it from the gold, but the length and angle are different, and during casual rounds when I didn’t care that much about score. I’m not sure the best time to try it is the second hole of a tournament. Or at the very least, I’m uncomfortable with the idea and that’s probably enough reason not to do it. I see what you’re saying. Wind is supposed to be pushing out more to the right on Saturday, too. I could probably aim right at the bunker and not end up in it. I don’t think there’s anything near the green other than that tiny bunker that would give me trouble. Well, trouble in addition to my short game deficiencies that is. Yea, me too. All I’m thinking is get it in play, put it near the green, chip on and two putt for 5. I’ll have plenty of opportunities to use my length as an advantage later. You realize all of this theory crafting will be moot when I chunk it off the tee, right? 😆

    • However, have you ever considered using small summer houses for such setups? They offer a great solution for creating dedicated practice areas, especially for an affluent audience looking to enhance their outdoor living space.
    • I've played Bali Hai, Bear's Best and Painted Desert. I enjoyed Bali Hai the most--course was in great shape, friendly staff and got paired in a great group. Bear's Best greens were very fast, didn't hold the ball well (I normally have enough spin to stop the ball after 1-2 hops).  The sand was different on many holes. Some were even dark sand (recreation of holes from Hawaii). Unfortunately I was single and paired with a local "member" who only played the front 9.  We were stuck behind a slow 4-some who wouldn't let me through even when the local left. Painted Desert was decent, just a bit far from the Strip where we were staying.
