reshafting my wedges (vokey 56.10 and 60.04)

I've had these two wedges for about 2 years now and about 20 - 30 rounds on them .. I've realized I need them reshafted I think ... they have the true temper "Wedge" shaft in them .. which I think is too flimsy .. I hit these quite high .. and my misses are right .. usually solid shots yet 10 - 20 feet right of the pin.

I have lengthened them an inch when I regripped them by adding a plug .. but I want to buy new shafts .. just some Dynamic Gold S100's I think is what I need ..

Do tour players use the standard "Wedge" shaft in theirs? .. my swing speed is 115 - 120 on a driver .. and I use stiff in my irons ..

blocking approach shots right is fairly common - I think when striking down on the ball, hands often drop too quick and the club pulled through, leaving the face open and coming accross the ball - resulting in high right

I have a SM 60 that had a s200 sticker and a SM 56 & 200 series 50 and they both have "wedge flex" stickers. All the steps line up the same on all 3 wedges. I'm quite sure the wedge flex is s200. I suppose some could be s300. I play R300s in my irons and you can definately see a change in the step pattern. I removed all my stickers because I like a clean look.

If yours are 1 inch over, but weren't built that way from the factory, then you have increased the swing weight some 6 points (in theory). That would put a stock SM that is D5 all the way up to about and E1. If you could get them reshafted somewhere that had a SW scale you might find you need a lighter shaft a 1" over. Just a thought.

I have the same problem with my wedges, but I never considered that it might be the shaft flex. Do you work the ball right to left pretty aggressively?

I play a pretty strong draw on my normal iron shots, so I have a pretty strong move from the inside to push the ball. My wedges don't have nearly as much draw action on them (which I think is mainly due to the fact that they are not in the air as long), so it does not quite make up for the push of my normal swing. Hopefully that makes sense.

My solution has been to lessen my inside-out move with my shorter irons. My wedge swing thought is "single plane...straight back, straight through". Give it a shot.

If you're an average height I suppose the regular length should be okay. The wedge flex for Titleist is either S200 or S300. Are you going for X100 or S100 (I've never heard of S100)? As for hitting it too high, well they're 56 and 60 degree wedges.

Like mrobbie said, blocking is common on wedge shots. Now, I think this is the reason why you hit your wedge too high. Due to slightly open face, your shots would go to the right of the pin like you mentioned and ball trajectory would be higher because you're adding the loft the club. Just make sure that it's your shaft before you spend your hard earned money. But from my opinion your shaft is fine as it is. Hope that helps.

My Mizuno mp-r wedges all have "wedge" shafts. I don't notice much difference (any really) between those and the s300s in my irons. Driver swing speed is (or should be irelevant). How hard do you swing your wedge? I never swing as hard with any of my wedges as I do with the longer irons. I'd spin the ball off the green or skull it 200 yards across!

The greater the loft, the less side spin there is in relation to backspin and the less draw or fade.
