What's the most 'trouble' you've gotten into at a course?

Ok, so I don't really mean "trouble" but you know, those awkward moments, for example:

I was playing at a course yesterday that I hadn't played at in years (infact the only time I played it was when I played it as part of the first official foursome with the genltman who designed it). My buddy and I checked in at the clubhouse and proceeded to the first tee. We walked the first 4 holes and while walking to #5 tee we were approached by the ranger.

"Excuse me gentlemen, did you guys check in before you teed off?"
"Of course, sir."
"Can I see your starter tickets?"

We whipped out our tickets and he looked over the validity of them.
"Have you guys played here before?"
"Not in a long time"
"Did they tell you we don't allow you to walk this course?"
"NO!"
"Ok, well, we don't - here's your cart"

There is so much distance between greens to tees that they require you to use a cart (and they don't charge you $32 for 18 w/ cart ... not bad!) so that play doesn't slow down.

Probably the most awkward moment I have ever had on the course.

I recently got yelled at for changing shoes in the back of the car, when the member who invited me told me I wouldn't have locker room priveledges. I was a bit confused.

That's weird ... I would never think twice about changing my shoes in the parking lot ... not like you were changing clothes or anything ...

We had a mix-up on the tee at the club a couple weeks ago. We were told to tee off when we checked in, but as we were walking out of the clubhouse, they called for a group of 4 Korean women. We went back to check what was going on, and were told again to tee off. When we got outside, the four of them were riding to the teebox and beat us there. Rather than sit behind an obnoxiously slow foursome who was out of turn, we drove to the second tee and played 2-18, 1.

As we were driving from 12 to 13, we saw them on the green of 7. God only knows where they were when we finished the round. As we were driving back from the 1st green to the clubhouse at the end of our round, I remarked that we really ought to go back inside and complain about the slow play. These women had to be playing over 5 hours... probably closer to 6. My buddy laughed at me, "After that stunt we pulled, they're probably gonna come to us."

Sure enough, they did. We explained the situation and they understood (we didn't even interrupt any tee times on the 1st tee), but it was still amusing.

Honestly, I never play there any more because the play has gotten so slow. It used to be 27 holes and it's been cut to 18 and you can't play a weekend round in under 6 hours. We'd have gotten stuck in a 6 hours weekday round if we hadn't skipped the first tee. I'd rather pay to play a decent public course near school than try to drive home to lose my whole day for 1 round.

I threw my clubs into the lake so it's time to start over...

Yeah, it was one of those below average country clubs which makes up for their shortcomings with their bad attitude.

The funny thing was, I didn't have locker room access when I went to change back after the round. So we just changed in the car with the doors closed.

I was playing this course yesterday for a golf team match. This course was like half golf course, half public park. It was so strange people would just walk across the fairways. There was a shirtless guy jogging. They cool part about though you could see all of downtown Pittsburgh.

I was playing in Florida a couple years ago on a course none of us had ever played. We were on a short par 4 (listed as 310 yards) and the foursome in front of us were all near the green, including a few chipping from 30 yards or so in front.

None of us were big hitters so we decided we were fine. I teed off first and landed my shot on the front of the green and ran off the back. Evidently, we were hitting from a temporary tee box that was only 250 yards or so from the green. We all just stood there in silence looking at each other with wide eyes and a "Holy Sh*t" look on our face.

Of course, these two older couples started yelling at us ... and justifiably so. We yelled our apologies and felt terrible about it.

By the time we reached the next tee, they were well ahead of us, but there was a ranger sitting at the tee. Before he could say anything, I thoroughly apologized and told him I felt awful about it. He said "Yeah, that's a temporary tee box. We need to get someone to indicate that. I'm just here to let you know that the foursome you hit into are the owners of the course and aren't happy at all."

Needless to say, we went the long way from the 18th green to our car.

I wonder how many people have gotten domed by golf balls...

Well there is another hole where on the second shot you have to hit across the road, and both of the kids who I played with said that they have hit cars with their shot.

Talk about a real "hazard". On our course the first hole runs parralel with the highway and onetime a kid I played with just crushed a low hard drive but he sliced it straight into the front end of a truck ripping down the road. I just ran back to the clubhouse with my clubs, I'm not sure how it turned out

One of my first times out playing a full course, I had an approach shot to the green which the card indicated about 160 yds. I proceeded to pull out my 6-iron but then looked at the green and was like "no way, it looks too close...lemme try a 9 iron"

Whacked the ball perfectly on to the green and I was the envy of all my friends (also beginners at the time) since they couldn't believe I carried a 9 iron 160 yards at that time...It was an elevated green too!

As I'm climbing up the steep bank to get to the green I wondered why it was so damn steep. Turned out it was another hole's green, lol...got yelled at by these three old women while I profusely apologized. It was pretty embarrassing.

One time me and my friend were finishing the day on the par 5 18. So deciding whether or not to tee off because there is this really slow group playing infront of us. Keep in mind that for some reason I have a horrible eye for distance. So my friend gets up and doesn't even come close to near them. But when I get up there I hit this bomb right down the middle of the fairway and almost hit one of the guys in the back. So we immediatly jumped in the cart to apologize (and make sure they dont kick my ball off the fairway) and luckily they were very forgiving.

Never with a committee or ranger, only other golfers who were either in the wrong themselves (teeing off a par 3 when I was on the green!) or decided to butt their nose in what wasn't their business. I was a junior member at a snooty country club so had quite a lot of that...

If someone tee'd off on a par 3 while I was still on the green I would politely smack their own ball back at them

NOt too long ago I sliced the ish* out of a drive with the wind. It carried out of my fairway over the rough and toward the adjacent fairway. I was intently watching the ball in flight, to get a spot incase in laded in the rough, and I did not even see a cart coming down the cart path until ... BAM!!! My ball hit the top of their cart and bounced off like a freakin' laser. Bounced from their cart over the (wrong) fairway into the rough on the opposite side. I didn't yell "fore", there was no warning, just BAM!!! I apologized sincerely and luckily the husband and wife in the cart were understanding. A little pissed, and a lot shaken, but civil. I felt horrible. It could've been bad.

Hahaha, reminds me about this one time I was golfing with my mom. There is this one par 3 on our course that the teebox is super elevated but there is a sharp bend of trees to the left of the green and our marshall came ripping around and my mom skulled a rocket that smoked the windsheild and boucned up and onto the green. It was akward.
