ive been looking at wedges for close to a month now. it seems that the cleveland cg14 and the vokeys or even the taylormade tp are the best out there, but they are also upwards of $110 each. thats a litlte steep for me, especially when i dont have a job. my local Dick's has cleveland cg10s on sale for $50 each. i thought that would be a good club and great deal for me. however, ive been thinking and i really want to do some major improving this coming season, and getting pitches and chips close to the pin are my weak point. are the more expensive wedges (cg14, vokey, taylormade tp) really worth the extra cash? or would i be fine with the cg10?

in my opinion, YES, those wedges are good wedges, and i also think you'd be fine with the cg10. if its money you are worried about, have you ever considered the Sonartec or Tour Edge wedges? the Sonartecs can be bought brand new for around $30 on ebay, and Tour Edge makes some fantastic Spin Milled wedges that can be bought for anywhere between $30-$50 on ebay (brand new also). here are a few links for ya:

All of those wedges are probably worth it. The value is in the eye of the beholder though.
Many players on Cleveland's staff actually play the CG10 wedges. They could get any Cleveland wedge they want, but chooses the CG10. To me, this shows how good the wedge actually is.

CG10s loom fine unless you just want the vokey, TM etc. The only thing that could possibly make them seem bad is if you think that they are bad and cheap etc. Its all how you look at it. After all golf is 70% mental(or something like that)

first off i think that yes they are worth it.

if you can get a couple of those cg10s i would jump on it right away. they had the sale at the stores near me too but they sold out.

i think the cg10s are comparable to the vokey 200 series which are my choice wedges.

Not sure. Just got some Vokey 200s (was treating myself!) and they're very good but I wouldn't say they were any better than a lot of older, forged wedges you can get via eBay for a fraction of the cost.

Doesn't have to be expensive to be effective. If you find something cheaper that you like the look of and works for you I'd say stick with it.

The CG10 are high quality wedges just like the other ones that you mentioned. When released the CG10's were to be included on the list of expensive wedges. One thing to keep in mind when shopping for these discount wedges, as well as any new one, is bounce. I would say if you can find the CG10 with the loft that you want and the two red dots, go for it. The red dots signify medium bounce which will probably be the most versatile. Sometimes when they are discounting these wedges they are the ones with something like 16* bounce and 56 loft. That would be too much for me! If you want more info on how bounce in wedges effect your shots I would try searching this site for past threads on bounce in wedges.

ive had both a 56* CG10 and a 56* vokey. couldnt tell the difference when hitting with them. so its all about what you think, if you see the club as being "cheap".

      Day 37, June 10.  Today was primarily WFH, so I had several practice sessions (indoors, off a mat, into the net).  At least one each of U, 9, and 6-iron full swings with the usual priority.   I also tried a few times a putting type stroke with my 4H, as something I should probably learn how to hit (and what it does), but the mechanical shot at home off a mat doesn't tell me much of what it's doing.  That's something I should probably try on a real green, not during a round until I've tried it.

      Day 10 (10 Jun 26) - Played in the midweek shootout at my home course - on aerated and sanded greens - day of trying to figure tempo to get the best roll on the greens.  Approach game was decently solid as was shots off the tee.

      Ok, I'm trying to find a feel to hit a consistent ball flight (irons).  My current predicament.  1. I try to do the arms down stuff better, with the club feeling like it is way behind me more. It's just a cluster of results. Most of the time, I can't get any speed on the swing. If I get my arms down faster, I just throw them out.  2. I focus all my attention on turning better. Pushing off with my left leg and getting my right side through better. On the DTL view, this doesn't produce anywhere close where the hands and club should be. The result is usually ball first contact, lower ball flight, more centered contact.  At this point, I am going with option 2. Stop thinking about what the hands do. Just make a shorter backswing, keep it wide, turn through. Somehow, the club head finds the ball. My focus is so much on just making sure I turn, it's like, "Oh, that contact was better.... Oh, that bell flight looks playable." If not, I will just be practicing my entire summer.

      Nope, they spent too much money. They are in over 28 million on the football roster and related NIL compensation at this point. Boosters associated with any Texas college football team has HUGE sway. The AD is between a rock and a hard place. They put a lot of money into Sorsby, at the chance of winning a NC this year. If you move on, you basically wasted a lot.  This is why Ohio State wants 3 QB's they feel can start. That is why the backups the past 5 years at some point transfer. Texas Tech has no backup near the quality of Sorsby. If they move on, they are screwed for 2026.
