I have normally been using a Power Cart.....but those fees are starting to add up. So I'm thinking of buying one of those nice push carts....plus I figure it is a good workout :}

What push cart do you recommend?

I love to walk when I can, I carried my clubs backpack style for years.

Now that I'm smarter, I have a Sun Mountain V1 push cart that works great. If I were to buy another manual push cart, I would probably go with the Clicgear 3 wheeler, which folds up quite nicely for travel.

Then I became really smart and bought a remote controlled motorized cart from an estate on Craigslist. Trust me, for walking, it's the best way to get your clubs around the course.

Here's a video of the cart I bought for $175, I got the cart, remote, travel bag, battery and charger. I emailed the company for an owners manual, and the guy in the video is the one who responded and sent me a manual.

I have never seen a cart like mine anywhere but in my garage, I hear they are big in Australia. It's really cool to have your clubs meet you at the teebox.

I have the Clicgear 2.0 push cart and love it. It's very similar to the Sun Mountain except that it folds up a little smaller and has airless tires. You can't go wrong with it. I seldom walked before buying this cart and now I walk most of the time.

I voted Push Cart, but i use a pull cart. I would rather walk than ride, but didn't have a stand bag. I was going to buy a used stand bag on Craigs list, when an add for a used BagBoy pooped up. $20 for a perfectly good BB. I don't even take my bag off it now. The whole thing fits fine in my trunck and that's where they stay.

In my bag are
Hibore XLS 10.5*
Hibore XLS 22* 3i Hybrid
TA7 irons 3-PW, SW
CG11 60* LW VP #5 putter.

Almost always ride because my buddy is too lazy/always claims he has back problems. Our cart died this weekend and we had to walk one hole while the pro shop sent out the replacement and I felt like I was on the Amazing Race or Survivor telling him not to complain so much.

this is probably the best push cart on the market right now

I have a Bag Boy 180 which is nice, and you might find a bit cheaper... but it's folded upsize is a fair bit larger than the Clicgear.

There was a very good article in the most recent golfweek in regards to push carts and JR golfers. I can't remember the specifics, but i think that most JR golf programs/tourneys are now allowing push carts due to the possibility of back and posture issues with the juniors. I carried for 20+ years, and moved 3 years ago to Sun Mountain. My only wish is that i should have made the move earlier. Much less stress on the back and shoulders for me. It also allows me to use a cart bag vs. a stand bag giving me more room for stuff. The 3 big guys (Sun Mountain, Clicgear, Bagboy) all have terrific carts and i think you can't go wrong with any of them. good luck.

99% of the time I'll walk and carry my clubs. Sometimes, some of the courses I go to will let me use a pull cart for free, but that's pretty rare.

I kind of think it's a joke that they charge you to rent those. It's not like they need the money to pay for maintenance on them or anything.

    • Best drive I've ever hit: I will not be answering any questions about the rest of the hole. Or the round, for that matter.
    • I tried hybrids way back when TaylorMade introduced the copper orange Firesole Rescue, the clubhead having been made of titanium which was still relatively new even in drivers back then. I couldn't hit it well at all, and while the success of hybrids suggests that the modern ones must be quite good,  I'm perfectly happy with the 5, 7, and 9-woods.  Early ones of mine were Top Flite Intimidator 400s made by Spalding... and also made of titanium, now that I think of it.  I still have them in my basement. I do bag a driving iron, but it's a one-trick-pony that never sees fairway use.
    • The last time I played Maxfli balls, Dunlop was still making them. How long ago was that? Mostly, though, I used to play Top Flites (original 336 dimple model) when Spalding was still making them. Now I play the Pro V1x. Last time that I ordered some, Titleist was still making them. Let's see how long that lasts.
    • Once, on a course in Middleton, Massachusetts that I used to love but has since closed down,  I hit the wrong half of a huge, UK style double green.  Then I made the hundred foot putt.  Tough to  forget that one.
