From the sounds of it it's just a book and a weekly newsletter you get with info/playing tips. Seems to me you could get the same info from this forum or searching around the internet.

It seems like the whole thing is too good to be true with all the testimonials and whatnot. And like zac said above, this forum can provide the same advice and more.

Well the Newsletter is free to sign up so my advice would be to give the Newsletter a chance. After keeping up with the newsletter for a few weeks then maybe look at the prospects of buying the Ebook.

Honestly, I'm sure most of the tips/techniques can be found online or whatever, but getting the information you need together, in sequence takes some work and that book seemingly has everything you'll need for reading or reference.

Send me a dollar and I'll tell you how to break 80.

This reminds me of when I went to buy a car last year and was talking to the salesman about golf. He (claimed) that he played to a 7. This was when I had only been playing seriously for about 2 months. So we're talking and I tell him ive already broken 100 a couple of times and he looks at me and in the straightest face goes.. "I got the best tip for you... If you want to get really really good, and start shooting in the low 80's" (im on the edge of my seat awaiting this golden nugget of advice) "All its gonna take you is thousands and thousands of man hours and about a quarter million dollars." LOL.. I laughed my ass off at that one.

I bought the car from him too!

Send me a dollar and I'll tell you how to break 80.

yeah me too, send me $50 and I'll tell you how to turn pro.

I listened to that guys voice for 20 seconds... then I wanted to murder him, so I closed that window.

My favorite parts of the site:
My name is Jack Moorehouse. I'm an average Joe, not a Pro and most importantly, I know how to explain things in extremely simple terms.

I'm still lost how, according to the Rules, you can sell golf instruction and not be a pro.

Also, look at the bottom of the FAQ page. Links to discount cigarettes, online roulette, and cheap life insurance. Yeah, this was one of the first links I found when I was thinking about starting golf 3 years ago. I'm still on the mailing list, largely because it seems to ignore me when I send a remove request. I rarely read it, and I never find it worth reading.

Here's how you break 80...Practice and make your putts

its simpler then that - Stop playing when you have made 79 strokes. Nobody says you will break 80 in 18 holes.

In my bag:

some golf clubs

a few golf balls

a bag of tee's some already broken the rest soon to be

a snickers wrapper (if you have seen me play, you would know you are not going anywhere for a while)

and an empty bottle of water

I've only broken 80 twice, but I noticed that something seems to be overlooked frequently: chipping. Sure, you need to know how to putt. But to putt, you need to be on the green (assuming you're not using the Texas wedge). If you're not breaking 80, I'll bet you're not 18/18 GIR and three putting a bunch. I'm shooting mid to low 80s mostly now and just recently found the importance of <20yd chipping. Imagine if all your greens were 20 yards bigger how many greens you might hit. How often is your approach just off the green? You probably hit a chip/pitch more often than any other single iron in your bag if you're over a 10 hcp.

I started practicing my chips and found a nice 9 o'clock to 3 o'clock pendulum with my 58* goes about 40 yards. Add a little, take a little away, and practice. Now my chips are consistently within about 10' (and often just a tap in). I'm not even afraid to chip a 15' shot from just off the fringe (short chips were ironically the hardest in my opinion). Makes one putting much more frequent. Save par MUCH more often. Now my extra strokes come from OB on drives, barely not carrying the water on a long approach, tree ricochets, lip-outs, buried in the lip of a bunker, etc. In fact, my recent 79 included 12 tap ins (some from lags, some from chips).

To me, putting is an art and takes a lot of practice. You'll go from two putting 30' and then 5' to two putting 20' and then 1'...but you're still two putting. But imagine if you were chipping from 30yds and then putting from 3'. That's as good as a two putt. And I found learning how to get the short chips close was even easier than learning a lag putt.

Specifically, the formula/strategy I use is that if I have green to work with, I might chip with a PW. I aim for 1/3 of the way to the hole and consider the break of course. If it's uphill or downhill, I'll adjust accordingly. If I'm going to chip with my 58*, I only get about 6' of release at most, so I just work on distance control. I've got my "clock" dialed in (9 to 3 is 40 yds; 7 to 5 is 5 yds; etc.). If I can land it within 6', the release takes care of the rest and it's generally no more than a 3' putt. If I'm chipping up any slope with the 58*, I will usually play it to just 1-2' in front of the cup.

The other recent revelation I use in chipping but was explained to me for my putting is: don't be afraid to have to hit a 3' comeback putt. Meaning, play the ball (putting or chipping) so that it'll go past the cup. As a wise man once said, "you'll miss 99% of the putts that you leave short". It helps to take out the funk around the cup as well as give you a chance to make it. Sometimes if the ball will just barely make it, it takes funky turns around the hole (spike marks, subtle breaks, cup damage, repaired ball marks, grain, etc.)
