What Kind of players Irons do you recommend? My Handicap is coming down, and Irons are my strong suite. I've already hit a couple and they really were not as difficult to hit as I thought. (maybe because im playing with 10 year old irons?) Im currently looking at mp-52's mp62's and titleist ap2's. Is there any other iron you would recommend?

Any mizunos. Mp-32's, Mp-57's, etc. The playability and feel of Mizuno is unmatched in my opinion. I tried the AP-2's and didn't much care for them.

Yeah I remember hitting some taylormade blades, and thinking they weren't that hard to hit. Those Nickent blades are hard to find, there is only one of them on ebay. Has anyone tried those TW blades nike came out with, if so how do they perform?

as one high school golfer to another,I use Nike Slingshots. They are very forgivable (if you hit a bad shot, it won't go too far off course), and are very soft when hit. Also, they are the type of irons which you don't have to swing hard to hit far. Swinging easier than normal actually makes it go farther.

You will find great accuracy and distance with the Nike Slingshots. You won't be dissappointed.

IMO, it will be hard to beat anything from Mizuno. The old MacGregor V-foil 1025 or 675 are great old irons and very inexpensive (but very high quality). The new Niki VR blades are really nice. Bridgestone irons are, IMO, harsher feeling than the pervious mentioned irons, but still very good irons. Can't really go wrong with Titlest irons either

I go between my MacGregor V-foil 1025 mb's and my 78 Wilson Staff Tour blades 1-pw. IMO the Wilsons are the best feeling clubs I've hit, but you gotta have a decent swing to make those babies work, and when they do, oh are they sweet--better than my Mizuno's or Mac's. The Niki VR blades feels a lot like my Mac's. Please realize that this is just my opinion and as another poster said, (I think it was this thread), "irons are a pretty personal thing".--for me that is a top line; I can't stand a fat top line, well except for my Bridgestone Air Muscle. Good luck and in the end, again IMO, what really counts is that you feel comfortable and confident over the ball.

jesus, to people on this site get PAID to market for Mizuno?....My suggestion is you could get fitted for some Ping i-10's or Callaway X-20/22 tour clubs. I'm not a huge fan of taylormade unless they remake the R7 TP again...i should've bought em when i had the chance. IMO Mizuno's are nice and all but, comon people, there are other frickin clubs out there...you can't go in any of the rooms in here except for golf balls and hear about how these clubs are getting praised.

This is just one person's opinion - mine...

I haven't been able to demo many of the newer clubs, but of what I have, my favorites were the Mizuno 57/67, and Titleist ZB/ZM, and the AP-2. I bought new clubs last year and these were my finalists.

If I got the Mizunos, I would have got a 57/67 combo, probably split at the 6-iron (57 for 4-5, 67 for 6-W). These were great feeling clubs. I had some Mizuno players clubs prior so I knew what I was getting. I haven't hit the 62 or 52, but I would assume the same would hold true.

I ended up with the Titleist ZB, mostly because I got a better price for them over the Mizuno. I thought the AP-2 was a good club and almost got them, but in the end, I just liked the ZB a little better. I think it offers a great blend of cavity and blade style irons which was one of the things I was looking for. Very good feel, and very easy to hit.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

Yea whats with all the mizuno irons? ive tried to hit a few of my buddies mizunos and hit them terrible. i play TM mb tp smoke irons. theyre awesome and are just soft when you hit them right. and when it comes to spin...put it this way i hit a 6 iron on a par 5 one day and it spun back a few feet and a P wedge will just suck right back. but you couldnt go wrong with the r7 tps either they feel good too. good luck!! :)

Give the Titleist 735cm's a whril. I tried out a number of players irons and dollar for dollar I think these are a great iron to play with. There is more forgiveness than many people think and when you hit them solid the ball flight is boring and right on target. I have a Titleist bias but I would not pay Titleist prices. When the AP2's come down in price then I will consider them but for the price range the AP2's are going for there is so much out there that will perform just as well without the "new car" price. Just my two cents.

Give the Taylor Made R7's a shot. (The older version that is being discontinued) I liked them the best of all the ones I tried, and the price is excellent right now, if you can find them. Crisp hits, good feel, and quite forgiving. I tried the AP2's and didn't like them as much as the R7's. They seemed nice and soft (buttery would be a good description) but I preferred the crisper feel and forgiveness of the R7's.

I'll second the shout for MacGregor's older V-Foil 1025M irons. You can get the cheap via eBay or online stores and as MacGregor aren't "cool" you can get a great price. Beautiful feeling to them. Best irons I've ever played except my Wilson FG17s which I wore out.

Never hit Mizunos so can't comment but personally, they don't look quite as nice as I thought they might. Is it me or is their topline a bit thick cf. some other makes? How much are you willing to shell out for a set? If money isn't too much of a problem, look into the offerings from Miura or Vega . I've demo'd some of those Vega blades - awesome. You might also take a look at the blades from KZG. The Z0s are fabulous, the standard blades are very good (hit them - they're excellent) and if you want a real players cavity check out the gorgeous Tour Evolution irons. I think you have to go to a registered KZG fitter to get them though. Other custom irons you might consider (I nearly got some; they're a fantastic price direct from the maker) are the Raven TS102i Blades . If you can find them, any Hogan Apex blades are worth a shout. The 2006 model is fabulous. I think you can get some from Callaway Preowned online or online stores such as Global Golf carry them still I think. Titleist are pretty good. The new ZM and ZB irons are pretty decent although i think you might want to look at the older 695mb or 690mb lines. Excellent. Look around. Do some research. It's not all Nike or Mizuno out there .

Stack System’s marketing materials inflate apparent swing speed and distance gains through selective presentment of data without qualification that purported gains are not the result, in whole or part, of its training protocol and products. * Yes, I'm joking about abbreviating both "SS." SuperSpeed wants: A judgment that the Stack System has disseminated false and/or misleading information in violation of federal and Illinois law. The deletion of all false advertising distributed and recall of all packaging containing false advertising and a requirement that Stack System issue notices (written or otherwise) to that effect to all current distributors and retailers of its products and all distributors with whom Stack System has done business in the past eighteen months. Oy.
    • I'm not doing this for the hundred and twentieth time. Sorry in advance, but you get the massively abridged version. Those guys also benefited from the weaker/shallower fields. Also, Watson's career doesn't overlap with Jack's like many think it did. Tom is nearly a decade younger. Jack won only like four majors only after Tom won his first. And Tom won more British Opens than he did all three of the other majors combined, as it was his specialty (not Jack's). Arnie's career similarly doesn't overlap Jack's as much as many think.   Jack would also tell you Tiger was the better golfer.
    • Weaker depth of fields for sure. Some of the top level guys with Jack were pretty awesome. Tom Watson had the lead on the 72nd hole of the 2009 British Open, an event where Tiger missed the cut. Old Tom was almost 60 years old. Jack himself at age 58 finished Top 10 at The 1998 Masters and scored better than Tiger, who won The Masters by 12 shots just a year before that.   The success of both Tom & Jack in older age gives some hope that maybe Tiger can find the magic again at some point. He’s still trying to figure out how to build the stamina for 72 holes after the leg injury. I would love to see him jump on the leaderboard in the coming years. I know a lot of people have given up on him at this point, but that was also true from 2014 to 2017 with the back injuries. He had a hell of a resurgence in 2018 & 2019. Would be fun to see it again.
    • Perceptive rules question by caddie unlocks Tour pro’s ‘dead zone’ relief A perceptive rules question by Xander Schauffele’s caddie, Austin Kaiser, unlocked “dead zone” relief during the Wells Fargo Championship.
    • I ran across an interesting new clip, Johnson Wagner went into that spot with the Referee who allowed the relief.  Apparently there was a perfectly reasonable shot to be made, as Johnson clearly demonstrated, so relief from the TIO was perfectly appropriate.
