I was using a golf pride velvet pro putter grip, but I always had a problem with getting a good opposing palms grip when I putted. So I decided to change to a Golf Pride Jumbo Crown putter grip and although my putts roll straighter, I feel like I don't have any feel on the putt. I played two rounds and my putts are either short or really long. I'm sick of 3 putting and want to switch back.

How long do you guys give a grip before you give up on it? Anyone have experience with other fat putter grips like the tigershark?

if its not for you then you generally will know, id give it a couple rounds at least to adjust but thats just me.. a fat grip is supposed to help with getting rid of hand/wrist movement in the stroke...

About two minutes on a practice green and I can tell if the grip is right for me or not. Sometimes even less.

yeah i found them interesting until I borrowed one from the club house and took it to the practice green it took exactly 3 balls for me to shake my head and walk it back to the club house.

I tried out the tigershark. It was the first + size grip I've ever tried on a putter. It did quiet my hands a little bit, but the bigger size and softness really hurt distance control and feel for me. I switched to a Lamkin deep etched paddle after 3 rounds and some practice sessions, and I really like it.

I bought one of them that is real REAL BIG. I don't know why. Seen a pro using it. I could barely fit it in my bag. I used it 4 rounds and changed.

i think ive seen those... they are crazy big I dont even know why they would use those? they are like 5 or 6 inches around. I would think it takes all feel out of it. whatever works tho

I use and love the giant Winn grip. To answer the question though, think you should know pretty much immediately.

Do you mean the

2Thumb putter grip? I have seen several tour players using it recently, i noticed 3 in one tournament i was watching on TV. Jiminez was one of them, though i don't think he uses it now. The commetator made a comment about them, saying these pros like the 2Thumb because they are getting a large surface area on their hand in contact with the club. I have tried the grip once on one of my friends putter (White Hot XG #7) and it was pretty sweet - though could have just been that i was just using something new. New Equipment Confidence.

I just put a Winn jumbo grip on my putter today. I decided on the jumbo grip to take my hand and wrist out of the short putts and I notice a big difference with short putts being very solid.

I tried lag putting and had no problems, myself.

I would practice lag putting with the jumbo grips and stick with it for at least 5 - 10 full rounds of 18 holes.

I just put a Winn midsize grip on my putter last night. I figure it's in between the no distance feel fat putter grip and has less hand action than a standard size grip. I'll let you guys know how it works out...

I haven't used one of the massive grips, but I really liked the slightly larger grip on a Nike OZ putter i tried. I'll be putting one of those on my putter when the grip wears out.

Yeah, the midsize grip was a massive difference. It's wide enough to get both my thumbs on the front, but thin enough not to kill all the feel. It's been a huge difference in feel and my putting has improved significantly.

    • I’m not sure I agree. It’s just what the majority find more entertaining. Most people prefer women’s gymnastics over men in the Olympics. How much hype is there with the men’s compared to the women’s? I bet you can rattle off several big names in women’s gymnastics and only a handful of men. Women’s tennis …same thing. And sure enough, their purses are the same. However, WNBA, awful…LPGA, not near as much interest than PGA. Don’t think it’s really that complicated IMO.

    • If you walk up to a food/drink kiosk at Magic Kingdom and ask the person for a cup of "magic water" they will give you a small cup of Sprite for free. About 3 fingers worth. They don't sell alcohol at MK anymore so I go over to one of the courses while she hangs out there.
